I'd like to address a comment that was made which has annoyingly disappeared from the feed and I'm not sure where to find it. To the user that posted it, I'm not sure what happened but I'm going to post it here as I found it when checking my emails. So, I'm really sorry about that. Here it is: "Yes, you are actually missing something in the microtransaction-discussion. First it's about principles. Excepting them just because "they are always there now" doesn't change that it's a bad thing. That is exactly the mindset corporations want to instill on people by hammering them with their shitty tactics until people stop caring. And they shouldnt. Secondly it's the way it was done, which is even worse you could say. Putting the microtransactions in a while AFTER the release is just plainly admitting they did that to deceive early impressions and reviews. It's another typical move from corporations and there is no defending that. And last but not least "you dont have to buy them" is and always was the weakest argument in this whole debate. These things pray on people giving into shady deals. That's like saying "gambling shouldnt be restricted because people can just choose not to gamble". The fault lies with the people trying to pray upon others. Especially with so many stories of people that cant help but to give into some of this shit because they are suspectible to it. Stop blaming customers in defense of greedy corporations when they could simply choose not to have them!! The casual gamer argument also isn't one. If they wanted a "do whatever you want"-mode like that for people that don't have time they could've just put it into the game!" Firstly, I'd like to say thank you the response. Admittedly, I as an individual have never been affected in any negative way by microtransactions, aside from the one time I nearly got hooked on loot boxes. I was enjoying the excitement opening them, but realised soon that I was spending a lot of money which was akin to gambling in a sense. On a side note, I get the same excitement from opening trading card packs so that probably tells you a lot about me. I understand there's a wider discussion around greedy corporations and the way they operate to try and make money, especially when it comes to DLC in games. If I came across a little flippant and like I was hand waving the issue, then I apologise. That was not my intention. Yes, maybe Capcom didn't need to put microtransactions in RE4, but at the same time, if a majority don't like this practice, then we can vote with out wallets and not buy them. Once they see that no one is going for it, maybe they will rethink their options in the future. As for the deceiving part, I can't tell you if overall scores would have dropped as a result of them putting in at launch. I've heard from plenty of reviewer who said despite it being a shitty practice, the base game is still worthy of the high score. On it's own, it's still an amazing game. And yes, a fair point of if they wanted a mode to do whatever you wanted to, they could put it in the game from the start. But at this point, I'm not sure things are going to change unless more people speak up about it. unfortunately, a majority of the player base either won't say anything, or don't care enough. I personally do wish things were like they used to be where you could unlock things with cheat codes. Unfortunately it's a lot easier to make money by locking the cheats behind a paywall. All we can do is not pay for them. You've definitely given me a lot to think about and I thank you.

Fantastic review, as usual. One of my favorite aspects of the remake is not only the cohesiveness within itself (backtracking, consistent tone, gameplay segments) but also within the franchise. It truly feels like a sequel to RE2, unlike the original. It's really nice to see Leon's arc continue and the cleaner integration into what came before it and what's to come next. Also- at first, I wasn't sure about Krauser's voice, but I quickly came to love it. Since most of the "campy" nature of the game was trimmed, Krauser brought a lot of that 80's action movie villain vibe that I think was much needed.

Thank you so much! Yes, RE2 and RE4 do feel more tightly woven together now. Yeah, I’m not sure what it was about Krauser that didn’t hit for me. I think I just preferred his original VO over the new one.

A lot of "fans" are being really weird with this. Im glad they finally adressing the cannon issue they had making just one timeline with everything connected. If you recall the lore of the game was and mostly is still all over the place, we still dont have any tie in with 7/8, that im just assuming they will adress in the future. And for Krauser, I like how he comes out as a deranged soldier than a generic edgy villain man in the OG

Thank you for your level headed comment to microtransactions. I'm tired of hearing people whine about something they don't need to engage in. Microtransactions exist because people want them, whining about them doesn't make them less profitable. ftr the whole review was fantastic, can't wait to pick this game up for some nostalgia.

Another great video! I thought the game was phenomenal. I personally found Krauser to be far superior in the remake. My only gripe was how the unlockables were handled (both the variety and requirements). I thought Village and RE3R were on the right track, so this execution was not my cup of tea. It did sour me on doing additional playthroughs right away, but I'm going to return soon having accepted that flaw. Also, I do have to disagree on your point about the Dead Space remake. It is up to the player to decide how to look back on an original game after a remake. I do not think it should be a fault of the Dead Space remake for being a perfect remake. One of the few in my opinion. But looking forward to more videos! Keep up the great work!

Thank you! The unlocks were the reason I ended doing nine runs! Quite challenging in some respects and I can see why anyone might get a little burnt out trying to unlock everything. It's why I really appreciated 3make. It felt like I unlocked everything a lot sooner. You make a fair point on Dead Space. I absolutely agree it's always down to the player on how they look back on originals. Just for me, I have no desire to go back to the original. I don't think that's a fault per se of the game itself, just a lack of desire on my part. If anything, they did an amazing job of remaking it. Almost too good haha! The original is still and always will be a great game. But if I had the choice between the two, I know which one I'm now picking. The good thing about the Resi remakes, is there's enough difference in them from the originals that I can go back and still feel like I'm playing something different as opposed to something less polished, if that makes sense.

@@DeepDives What I loved about the unlockables in RE3R and Village was twofold. I felt like there was a greater variety in what to use with your personal play style, which could spice up any playthrough. But more importantly, it felt like I was using smaller unlockables to achieve greater ones. That made each playthrough a little different and more enjoyable while working towards a greater goal. Almost like having tiers to unlockables in a way. I really enjoy that kind of design myself. I do absolutely get what you mean with the Dead Space Remake. I too probably won't return to the original much because of how much they nailed the remake. But then again, I also think REmake is the definitive version of Resident Evil 1, but I'll still return the original here and there just because there's something special about it. So it could or could not end up being the same with the Dead Space remake. But I don't think the original will ever be forgotten regardless because we wouldn't have the superb remake without the truly amazing groundwork set by the first Dead Space. I think it'll always get its flowers in some way.

I also feel the modern RE remakes have the heart of "reimaginings" more than remakes, which may be why the originals remain so relevant with the remakes being phenomenal games in their own right.

Great review for it. Holding off picking it up as I'm behind the curve on big games, but looking forward to it. Think the issue with micro transactions being added is a kicker for neuro divergent people. It hits on a part of some people's minds that make them feel like they NEED to buy them, even if it's stuff you can get from just playing. I don't get the feeling as strong as others, but I have had to bin games I was enjoying because part of me really just wanted to spend freely, even with stuff that I knew wasn't necessary
@DeepDives
@DeepDives Жыл бұрын
Thank you! When you get it, I’m sure you’ll love it! Yeah I get that. In an ideal world, transactions for cosmetics and other little bits would just be cheat codes like games of old. Sometimes, I do get that feeling where I need to buy something even if it’s not necessary, like a constant nagging in my brain. So yeah, I can see the problems here. I had a bigger problem with loot boxes a few years ago. I spent so much money trying to unlock skins it almost became a problem. Thankfully I stopped. But there was still that part of me that said, go on, you might get the skin you REALLY want.

Idk.. The game was painful to play and is actually hidden in my steam library so I don't have to stare at it when browsing through my games. For me, RE4 was the "RE" for people that didn't actually like Resident Evil or survival horror games. It's just an action game that uses the IP name and characters to boost marketing and sales. About the remake, there are two sections that lçooks like a survival horror game. The first was the demo section, where you walk to the cabin. That was the part that made me think they would've turn the original RE4 into a horror game instead of keeping it as an action one. Se second, when you encounter the first regenerators. But thats it, besides those two very short moments, the game is just a gun run action shooter. I can see why it was such a success.. It's because action games appeal for more people, so every little timmy who likes Halo can play this and enjoy it. It's a great deal for Capcom, since it will sell more copies. But for actual survival horror fans, or for the original RE fans, this probably is kinda garbage. The worst part is knowing that Capcom let a third-part studio develop the RE3 remake so they could focus the main team on developing this. RE4 is, at least in part, responsible for the lackluster RE3 remake. And come on, lets be honest.. If the main character wasn't Leon and the game wasn't called Resident Evil, would ANYONE at ANY POINT say that this game, original or remake, reminds them of Resident Evil? A part from the new engine, that has the new "RE look", I don't believe anyone would've ever say that this game reminds them of any of the previous RE games to its time. And that speaks for itself, RE4 is the "RE" for people who doesn't like RE.

I noticed people like to act like this game just cut a bunch of content from the original for no reason but they never seem to mention that pretty much everything that was cut was replaced by something that fits really well and is often more engaging. I'm glad to hear your take on this it's a relief to know someone else has similar opinions to mine. Regardless, I can understand people being upset with certain moments from the original not being present in the remake... I personally would have titled this game "Resident Evil 4 Reimagined" because I think it feels more like that than a remake most times especially in the story. I guess certain people were expecting another remaster which would have been shameful and i'm glad we got this version instead

They wanted a remaster on the RE engine, a 1:1 replica of the game, were is the fun in that. I like the OG but I like new stuff as well. They can play 1:1 remakes on other franchises if they want but for me I really enjoy being surprised with new additions to games I really love.

Let's be honest...people don't like the microtransaction ticket for 1 reason. Easy S+ professional. You put the ticket on the Chicago and you win. It kills the accomplishment. If you had to upgrade the Chicago during the game, you still have to fight through pro at quick speed until you get unlimited ammo. They just killed the challenge. THAT'S the problem. Leave a challenge in there, it gives us something to work for, a reason to keep playing, a reason for youtube videos and community. Platinum means something to some people, it's a goal and now it's gone.

But you dont have to if you dont want to lmao its a single player game, has no competitive leaderboard. Why it annoys you that a guy that works full time can enjoy a game because him having an "easier time" will break your ego. Grow up.

@AshenMacaroon why be so ignorant with your reply? Did I offend you? I work 70 hours a week, so you can throw that excuse out. It's also an excuse I've heard multiple times online, which leads me to think you're one of those opinionless knuckle draggers who just regurgitates things they've heard. Platinum is an accomplishment, a way to play the game, but it's now removed for 3.99. What's not to understand. Why have prices on any guns in game? Since we don't have time for the challenge, all guns should be unlocked? If you don't have time, then maybe it takes you longer. What's wrong with that. To put it another way, you can play monopoly normally, or stick your hand in the bank whenever you need money. still feel good about your win? If you do, you and my 5 year old would play well together
@k1ler4m
@k1ler4m Жыл бұрын
@@kylemundy8871 I dont give a fuck what you think I am. Monopoly is a game to be played by multiple people, RE4R is a game to play by yourself, even more you can mod the game to shit to have OP weapons or unlimited ammo without paying a dime, I dont see you guys crying about that. And yes I did 100% the game before the tickets. And btw the platinum is not only S+ but you have to complete the game with pistol and knife only, not healing, not talking to the merchant, so youre being disingenious anyways.
@DeepDives

That is another reason, for sure. I got my platinum before the micro transactions were released, but I know for sure I wouldn't have purchased one because I liked the challenge, personally.
