Ian paice is the greatest drummer in the world. I tried for years to play like him never could so I quit. The guy is insane on the drums. Impeccable timing, i think you have to play to truly understand how bad ass he is though.

Let me get this straight. You quit drumming just because you can't reach in your words the best in the world lol.
@danielmacdonald83492 жыл бұрын
Let me tell you - I know EXACTLY where Felix G is coming from. I’ve been a drummer since I was 8. I though I was good - and the entire neighborhood that I was awesome. When I was 14 I saw Deep Purple in 1972 - basically during the American leg tour of Made In Japan - but BEFORE they went to Japan. I sat directly behind Ian Paice during the show - he was so close I could hear him talking to Roger Glover during songs. After seeing a drumming performance like that I was shocked!! I NEVER knew a drummer could be THAT good. I swear I probably didn’t pick up my drum sticks for probably a year cause I though I SUCKED!!
@CamusFR72 жыл бұрын
I think Paice is absolutely one of three, maybe four, of the greatest rock drummers of all time. Unlike the others, or at least more than others, he is very good not only in rock, but also in other genres, such as jazz. So to me he's definitely one of the greatest of all time.

Ian Paice GREAT!!! Lord RIP you were a soul in the band, Glenn really covered very well in the bass, David placed a good and modern style. Tommy RIP was not able to show his abilities for a long time, and died too young. this one of the bands that were listened in the 20 century and maybe will still be heard for along time in the 21 th. Congratulations To all, the ones in this video and the others and no less brilliants Steve, Blackmore, Gillian and the good Glover and more. last concerts ae coming soon this month. is going to be the Goodbye

Real Purple fans know of the unfortunate story about this Japanese tour, where Bolin had his left arm partially paralyzed and couldn't move his fingers (take a good look). I don't know where this soundtrack (where Bolin actually plays some of the parts) is from, but it's much better than the original sound for this footage. Nice job in getting it kind of synced to the video!!

You and me both! DC was my favorite singer way back then and still is today (even though his voice is toast at this point). Posters, picture discs and album covers of Deep Purple, Coverdale/Whitesnake & Rainbow covered my bedroom walls as a teenager. I always wished that Coverdale and Hughes would have done something together after Purple split. Too late now...Hughes can still belt it out with the best of 'em, but poor DC sounds like he gargled with battery acid. The Whitesnake "Purple Album" would have been so awesome only if it had come out 20 years ago when David still had the most incredible blues rock voice I've ever heard!

The combination of Goin Down and Stormbringer would have been the best set closer for this tour, especially when this rendition packs a whallop with this rougher sound and an extended improvised ending. Instead of Highway Star, it would have been neat for them to experiment with Space Truckin' (where Lord and Bolin could showcase licks and new melodies and Bolin could toy with the echoplex) or begin with Space Truckin' and interpolate other Purple Tracks, like a bluesier rendition of Demon's Eye and Sail Away or What's Going on Here before ending with Goin Down and Stormbringer. My ideal setlist for a Mark IV show: Burn Drifter Dealer Hold On Gettin Tighter (Hughes bass solo) Smoke on the Water Soldier of Fortune (full version w/Bolin on acoustic) Head Above the Water (Bolin feature) You Keep on Moving Lazy (Lord intro; extended jam before Paice drum solo; ending with Homeward Strut/Coronarias Redig) This Time Around/Holy Man/Owed to 'G' (Bolin Guitar solo) Space Truckin'/Demon's Eye/What's Going on Here (Lord keyboard solo) Goin Down Stormbringer
