Ian Paice has said that Roger is the closest thing to the perfect pure bass guitarist as you can get, he said he's never seen or played with another bass player who can slot into that groove and hold it for as long as needed, and no other bass player has afforded him as much room to do his thing (drumming) as Rodger. Musicians and people with a high music iq will understand what Ian's meaning here !

It is deserved that Purple is inducted into the hall of fame. A pity that after so many years there are still the egos and personal differences that prevented ALL the Purples.Evans,Simper, Blackmore,Hughes,Coverdale,Turner and the beloved Lord and Bolin deceased may they rest in peace. Nothing prevents everyone from being there, only that Gillan did not want it to happen... I say it from the respect I have for Ian.I would have been nice to see them all playing Smoke and the water.

If you know this group they have had many incarnations & never rested on the works of any period but continued always to write new material.

Paul McCartney says the way he got Ringo Starr (who was already in as one of The Beatles) in as a solo artist too was by getting Bruce Springsteen and Dave Grohl to agree with him he should be in. No one was looking out for Lord the same way. The RRHOF guys themselves are incompetent, it's fairly anarchic.
@DavidSmith-ss1cg6 жыл бұрын
LongLiveThe70s - I agree. Jon had a friend with money who enabled the band to start, and the first guy he called was Ritchie. As soon as Ritchie Blackmore came on board, it was his band. He came up with the name, and the guitar players who followed him have said that "you can always feel Ritchie looking over your shoulder." Such a shame, as Jon Lord was such a sweet guy and the Hall of Fame induction would have meant the most to him. Ave, Jon Lord! Good job, guys!
