1:17:44 - The sequence at this time is so perfect. It can only be divinely orchestrated. Mathew talking about the complex and story of a partially evil Samson as he spins his tale from daylight into nighttime and a hunters rifle crack echos through the woods. The meaning is so thick the reality of it even diffuses through this digital medium. Beautiful, gentlemen. Bravo.

Thank you so much for your work! I appreciate the effort of expanding symbolism to the Spanish-speaking world. I’m from Mexico and am constantly trying to explain what Jonathan and Matthieu are all about to people around me to no avail. This translation will be of so much help, since there is nothing so concise and simple to explain symbolism as Matthieu’s book. Will definitely buy a couple of copies to give as gifts!

I've thought a lot about these things recently. Some thoughts: 1. Adam doesn't name the fish, but he also doesn't name the things that "creep on the ground." Basically dirt swimmers or dirt dwellers. The serpent is one of those. 2. Adam does name the domestic beasts, the wild beasts, and the birds. That has to do with the ox, lion, eagle, and man tetragrammaton. These are also "covered" animals, either hairy or feathered. The serpent is "subtle" or "naked." Hair and feather has to do with commanding the outer nature. The woman is where the command of the outer "turns on itself" to the inner. Adam must command his own animality (sin is "crouching at the door" like a lion). 3. This idea is directly related to Samson and David. David can grasp the domestic (sheep) and kill the wild (lion, bear, dog) by seizing it "by the mane" or hair. Goliath compares himself to a dog when he fights David, and then David receives a bride (the woman that turns the judgment inward). Samson kills the lion exposing the inner honey (honey is related to wisdom and the brightening of the eyes), but the secret of his outer strength is exposed and turned against him by Delilah (whose name means weakness, the opposite of strength, but also is a play on night and Lilith). Samson's weakness is his lack of self-control. He can't "subdue" his own animality, so he is himself "subdued" by the woman. He is bound by having his hair woven into a piece of fabric. Much more to say about this given Mattieu's insights. Honey or "enlightenment" coming from inside the lion is also related to the only female judge, Deborah, whose name means "little bee," a honey maker. 4. Proverbs uses the woman to personify wisdom and folly, which is basically the idea of the way of life and death, discerning between the sleep of renewal and the sleep of destruction. The relationship between wisdom and woman is very profound. The woman Wisdom cries out for repentance, the "inward turn," the sword that "turns on itself," the mirror of one's own judgment, seeing ones own face so to clean it, the eye seeing itself so to clarify its vision. The staff that can turn into a serpent, we could say. (The serpent is the limit of Adam's judgment that can "turn" on it). Again, much more to say about this. 5. Solomon seems to ultimately fail in this discernment because he builds temples to foreign gods, which is related to taking foreign wives and foreign perspectives. Somehow he allows the eyes on the wheel to drown the central eye or light that creates ordered space. He too is like Samson, in a way. 6. David also exhibits this same weakness with Bathsheba. Uriah the Hittite is the inverse of David, the righteous foreigner, the righteous mercenary. Before David takes Bathsheba, whose bath is likely a cleansing ritual following her period, he asks who her husband is. He tries to "cleanse" her of the foreigner, even though Uriah is more committed to the fighting men of Israel than David is, because David is supposed to be off at war. In taking Bathsheba, he creates a link or "con-fusion" between himself and Uriah (his opposite or inverse), but in such a way that he is cursing himself. He tries to create further confusion to muddy the water and hide his sin by telling Uriah to go sleep with his wife (or euphemistically "cover his feet") so that if Bathsheba got pregnant Uriah would assume the child was his own. But again, Uriah acts more like an Israelite than David and refuses to go to his house while the rest of the army is off fighting. So David has to purge him, or to cleanse Israel of the foreigner, which is the outworking of the logic of his initial act. David was trying to act in a "totalizing" way (the fact that he was on the roof is a marker of arrogance, exalting yourself beyond your proper place to see or know more than you should. So he became Saul, in a sense. And when he sees himself, or "turns on himself," he uncovers himself from the royal garments, becomes naked, exposed the "inner man." And he also sees his death in the death of Bathsheba's child. Solomon is the second child, the child of David's renewal. 7. Solomon judging between the prostitutes is related to David and Saul, because there was confusion in the kingdom as to the rightful king. Samuel initially annoints David in secret. But David does not insist on his ownership of the "child," he cedes the kingdom by going into exile, even though he is its rightful "mother." Thus he avoids cutting it in half. Saul wants to turn it into a competition, for people to "take sides."

I’m reminded of C.S. Lewis in Mere Christianity. “Some people talk as if meeting the face of absolute goodness would be fun. They need to think again. They are still only playing with religion. Goodness is either the great safety or the great danger - according to the way you react to it. And we have reacted the wrong way.” (31)

Divination can be analogized to Bodily sin. Letting the material (what were composed of/body) direct our purpose/meaning/intention - instead of using our Head. Basically an inversion of hierarchy. - can all sin be reduced to disobedience/improper ordering in the hierarchical sense?
@ivanboivin317517 күн бұрын
Nice insight!
@TROTICS17 күн бұрын
@ thanks, what do you think of the idea, the more we integrate the enemy through Sin, we materialize the flesh which is against us. In addiction, neurological circuitry will grow in your brain, which will compete to impose its will against you - you become subservient to the foreigner against your proper principles - you become a slave to Sin, instead of the master of your body. And repentance, the flaming sword must Cut inwards ; to get out of the cycle of Sin there must be real neurological death within your confused identity (2 perspectives in your own territory competing for dominance). So repentance & Christ is truly the precursor into renewal to remove yourself from this bondage.

It can also be the animal/material, following it's level of natural patterns, showing a way that wasn't clear to us before. The example of an animal going to a cake A or B to decide on a vote is one such example. The animal because of whatever happenstance or logic of its own goes to the cake it prefers. We didn't force its way, it just did its thing. What we did was build the context that connects the other wise unrelated events, the connection between the animal and the cakes and the decision that determines our future, basically. We are the mediator between these distant levels of reality, but in this case we're letting go and not forcing the decision. This gives space for something higher to come through to direct us, to make the animal and us too participate in a pattern. It's appropriate that the purpose of divination in this example was about deciding on an election, too. Opening up to influence can be dangerous, of course.

1:27:00 This is the first time I have heard someone else connect the Solomon story to Genesis. Great work. There are three times in the scriptures where the Garden of Eden story is told. Each time there is the tree of the knowledge of good and evil and the tree of life. And each time the "Mother" is named. His knowledge is above Adams because of humility. Solomon says "I am a little child." Childlikeness. "You must become as a child to enter the kingdom of heaven." I would venture to guess that: Adam got the tree of knowledge of good and evil. Solomon got a heart of wisdom. Jesus got the tree of judgement/life.

1:44:00 This case is EXTREMELY important because it names the harlot as the mother. It is about redemption. It is tied to Ezekiel chapter 16. It is the reason why Mother Mary and Mary Magdalene are both eternal virgins.
@TheTimecake17 күн бұрын
So then discernment, as used by Solomon, is that which turns the flaming cherub/chereb (hybrid/sword) into a mirror (symbolized by water)? Since in the story, the baby that the woman gives through the sword is instead given back to her, and the death the other woman gives through the sword is instead given back to her. Or is this less a transmutation of elements, so to speak, and more of an emphasis on the "turning against itself" aspect of the sword in particular? Or are those types of aspect shifts and transmutation the same thing (per the whole perspective-magic link)? Regardless, what is the significance of fire and water both being aspects of one thing in the sword? I get what the individual aspects mean, but about the very fact of their union?
@TheTimecake17 күн бұрын
Oh, just realized. Both fire and water are aspects of renewal/transfornation. _That's_ the meaning of their linkage in the sword.
