It is called Famously Filmfare Flashback, they are looking at old interviews. Easy to miss, perhaps, so it might be surprising for some. Ok, this is kind of long but I think it's importantIt is nice to watch and see how far she's come. She struggled hard for the happiness she has now and she's using it so well. Her Live Love Laugh foundation is something that is needed, not only in India but all over the world. I hope others follow her example. I have lived with serious depression for years and know several others who have. People don't understand what they can't see, don't know how bad it is. But one of those people took their own life. Public awareness is so important. She should have been surrounded with love, support and compassion instead of judgement and criticism. Deepika is saving lives.

That last bit may be confusing. When I say she should have been surrounded with love, support and understanding I am talking about my friend, not Deepika, though the same does apply to her. Her family are wonderful in how they supported her, especially her mother (from interviews with Deepika). I saw interviews and public response to her revelation of her depression that called her an attention seeker, amongst other things. This is part of what needs to change. "She is rich and successful, what has she got to be depressed about?" is another one. It's not only caused by something in a person's life. They don't know that it can be a physical illness, where the brain doesn't produce the right chemicals, so nothing in the world would fix it except for medication to artificially produce those chemicals. It's similar to diabetes in that a diabetic replaces the insulin their body doesn't create with injected insulin. I apologise for the length. When I think of my beloved friend who took her life my heart still breaks. She deserved so much better than she got. The memories can cause me to speak on depression and it's effects. She was the sweetest, kindest person I have ever known, and the world became a little bit darker when her light was gone. It remains that way to this day, though I have learned to live with the loss of her light.
