There is an option while returning you can set the altitude level, like if you set the altitude level to 100 metre then while returning the Drone will first go to hundred metre altitude then it will return to your spot and land straight down so it will not hit any tree or building.

Upon takeoff it says my mavic many return to home position has been updated.when clicking on the icon on my phone I only see the land option not the return to home option. Why is this?

Than you fly within 20 meters of your home position than it will land where the drone is. If you fly further so more than 20 meters away of your home point you can use the return to home.

Because the drone is too close to you and when it's within these parameters I think it's 20m it will just try to land safely on the spot and not return home

I have a question I haven't yet found an answer to. What if you've flow up above your set RTH altitude? Imagine I'm at the base of a 500 foot hill. My RTH is oh, say 300 feet. The drone is above the top of the hill and I hit return to home. Does it just plop down on the hill trying to descend to 300 ft? Or does it realize it's above it's RTH and just head back to home coordinates at it's current altitude and then land?

Yes but why don't I have the RTH option in my app now its been fine but I was flying today n hit high winds warning and then it said it could not RTH have to do it manually but now I don't have the 2nd option in the app only the Button on the controller ty😢

Do you have to configure return to home when battery is low or when signal is lossed in order to gain those features or does is automatically work as long as your home point is set? Also I notice that return to home on this mini doesn't always show available even after I set the home point during the flight. I almost always have to manually return to home and only get the land option alone. Any advice you can give is appreciated. Great video.

Hi! HELP# I always fly my drones over the bay, since here in Miami Beach, FL, where I live, is a crowded area with many tall buildings. I already crashed on the water the Mavic Mini and the Mini 2. My mistake is that: While using the left joystick to rotate, I keep lower the altitude by mistake and forget to check it. I get very distracted looking at the video images. Why the drone doesn't have a "Low Terrain warning" or "minimin altitude reached warning" that I could preset to, let's say 10 or 20 meters, so it sends me a warning when it gets below that altitude. Especially over the bay waters where I can't receive it? Thank you!

RETURN TO HOME is more than a safety feature. If you are flying somewhere you never flew before, and you fly pretty far away, you will not be able to return to your starting point without RETURN TO HOME!

Great video, simple and to the point. One thing I would just add though which is as important as your home point being set, is to ensure your RTH altitude is set high enough for your surroundings. Otherwise on its way home it could go straight into the side of that water tower haha

I believe that when you take off, it automatically sets the "Home Point". Always make sure though!

Ok nice demo. Question. After pressing the Return 2 Home button does it fly 100% the same path or it it off a few degrees? The reason for my question is if it is off a few degrees and now there are cables or maybe trees etc. Will it fly into them or would it be best to fly it always in manual mode? Like the water tower there for example.

Biker Boy Good question. What it does, is it’ll fly in a straight line from wherever it is back to the home point. There is a setting where you can set your RTH altitude before taking off. Where I typically fly, I know that if I’m 200 feet in the air, I won’t hit anything so I set my RTH altitude at 200 feet.

I’ll have to give that ago. Every time I hit RTH the drone immediately descends below selected RTH altitude and wants to land right where it is. Bit awkward when flying over the ocean. So I must have been using it as a landing feature, not a return to home feature. Good video. Very well explained.

Brian Clark I think I’ve mastered the problem. Using an sd card helps gps location. And if there is and medal in the surrounding on take off it will also throw the gps signal out.

I'll try again with the mini SE farther away next time (at least 20+ meters). I think I've only tested it in smaller distances, so your comment makes a lot of sense.

Hi Dylan, I'm curious if the Mavic Mini drone will return safely in an obstacle ridden area. Your video has no obstacles. I often take off from a very small boat or a kayak. I'm often up a creek or near a waterfall with trees everywhere. I see that your drone made a b-line home. That wouldn't work in my case since I had to maneuver around all the tree branches. What do you think? I've been afraid to attempt it because a crash is the end of the drone.

I you are on a certain height before returning to home, does it maintain the height until it reaches the homepoint or does it descend as it goes home? I'm afraid that if it descends while it goes home it might hit something like powerlines and stuff even if IO flew higher than powerlines before RTH.

You absolutely need to set a return to home altitude. This way you don't hit wires, trees or anything else that gets in the way. Figure out the highest obstruction and set the return to home altitude a bit higher than that.

PLEASE DO! I owned the Mavic Pro and had to replace my ribbon cable twice (did major surgery on my drone) simply because the ribbon cable tore because I didn't keep my gimbal cover on it to secure it from vibrations, etc.
