Please admit it. 1980 was the best decade ever with so many awesome songs from different bands 👍 I saw them on top in 1987. It was never the same ever since. Still big respect.

3:05 - Vivian's solo is killer. It channels Steve and does justice to his original, but with Viv's own inimitable touch. Respect.
@josharmoogam66967 жыл бұрын
Mark Redfern It is good, but Viv's best work is with Dio hands down. Rainbow in the Dark, Holy Diver, Stand Up And Shout, Don't Talk To Strangers, I Speed At Night, We Rock, The Last In Line, Eat Your Heart Out, Mystery, King Of Rock 'n' Roll, legendary.
@mdredfern27 жыл бұрын
I agree with you, Josh. However, I do see his work in Def Leppard as revealing another side of his playing - a more restrained precision (not to mention what he adds to the band vocally). But, to your point, no debating that his work in Dio is exceptional. Unfortunately, that kind of playing can't really be replicated in Def Leppard. They're a totally different band. I do wish they'd let him loose to shred now and again, though. ;-)

@@mdredfern2 Live you don't see it much, but Viv's playing on all the stuff Slang and onward lets him really show what he can do while still sounding like he's in Def Leppard. The song 'Go' has a solo from each of them back to back and it's pretty cool.

Phil worked hard on developing his singing voice to a strong level so he can help Joe with the vocals that are too high for Joe. You have to realize it's not about a lead singer's age, it's about the immense physical strain his vocal chords and have endured for over 40 years. And even when there were years between Hysteria, that ENTIRE TIME they were in the studio working. So at times his vocal chords become stressed and develop polyps, AND if he doesn't give them a rest, the polyps will become larger and RIP the chords. Blisters can even occur. Joe's voice is AMAZING!!!

Wow, great sound and great vocals. I know it would have to be like walking a high-wire with those high vocals parts each night. I'm not just talking about Joe. That entire band sings great, and they shoot for amazing high harmonies. Hey, if something cracks, no big deal, everyone grins, and the audience does too, and just appreciates the effort. Because, everyone understands what a challenge those kind of vocals are for every member of the group. I think that is one of the things that makes their concerts so great. I always thought that they were one of the most talented groups out there. -Have been one of my favorites since high school, and wow, that was in the eighties. Great concert.
