Something I find pretty funny, albeit not surprising is the fact that he is currently digging his own grave. I had actually subbed to Def back in 2020 bc his channel popped up on my feed and like 1 of his jokes made me chuckle for like 2 seconds. I hadn't known much about him so I hadn't really cared much so I gave him a shot. Each gossip video though failed to say anything that wasn't already known and his content became incredibly boring. I stopped watching and let his content creep by while I sunk my teeth into amazing stuff like Internet Historian and The Right Opinion when I wanted real comedy and sited news highlights I actually found interesting. Seeing that he's actually a prick who is simply a less attractive version of Dane Cook in the mid 2010s I chose to quit watching altogether.

This is a great summary, one of the best actually, and I hope you'll talk in part two about Papa Gut, which is how his devoted fans really started to turn on him. Even when fans cared for him and worried about him, he snapped on those fans and he talked how his 'true fans' would support him regardless. His fans wanted him to do the reporting and he kept making content that's about him and his 'comedy'. He encouraged a fan to end their life. Then after the comedic failure, he kept threatening people picking fights and being the worst he can be on twitter. He removed several of those tweets, but a lot of folk screenshotted it. I think he was burnt out of the thing he is doing and wanted to make content he loves doing, but instead of doing it gradually, he trippled down and tried his hardest to cancel himself.

It’s been awhile since I’ve clicked on a John Swan video, I think just because they haven’t been circling in my algorithm and I tend to click on a lot of different stuff so that was getting recommended to me first. But I’ve been binging some def noodles drama content and here we are! I’m going to have to backwatch because I’ve forgotten how great a John Swan deep dive/ commentary video was. I love the editing, the pacing, the language (as in the intelligent word choices and the lovely accent). So glad I ended up here again!

I used to watch in 2020 to 2021 for the gossip. Nothing about him ever hinted at him being a comedian. I even thought his jokes were just some weird ironic statements. He never made me laugh. I keep seeing the odd creator follow along with the claim that Dennis was making money through comedy clubs but I have still only seen that one video where he’s on stage whispering and then yelling other than that no evidence and his “comedy” hasn’t been shown on stage yet in fact when he’s on stage doing his show he looks like a terrified elementary school kid. The issue is that Keem can just remove it back to a state level court, such as California, which has an anti Strategic Lawsuit Against Public Participation law that is very very strict. Dennis happens to live in California and that would be the correct venue to file in.

As someone studying journalism, him reaching out the actual sources for comment is not uncommon. However, it’s weird he posted it.
