The Tiger Boi This quote is just sad and dark. It’s very negative and I just don’t like it. The whole saying is basically that “heroes” *must* die young to be treated with any significant value. If they get old and die like the rest of the npc population, nobody will remember them anyway... unless they suddenly do something uncharacteristic and evil because then people will definitely notice them. Otherwise most good guys or “heroes” live a regular long happy existence into old age and die just as good or heroic as they always had been, except by that point nobody cares... sad. Haha I don’t know why I decided to go on this rant here lol so many people say this about so many situations and I always just think it’s sad and mostly untrue. Two ways, 1. you said it yourself 'suspected of', not proven. 2. TV Show broadcasting the 'confrontation' with this suspect to the world. Those two factors, along with his high profile public office, created a genuine crisis for him which was supposedly justified only by an artificial, victimless, false scenario, set up with the motive of profit. So while the suspect is ultimately responsible for their own suicide, the TV company contributed to it by creating the crisis that pre-empted it.

@@supaseshXO I really don't consider the DA suicide a scandal, despite the manipulations on Hansen's part. Good riddance. There is an instance of Hansen and the show completely rail-roading at least 1 guy that was completely innocent. Some dude that was essentially doing something similar as "To Catch a Predator", showed up at one of the sting houses to warn the parents. He had screenshots of all the conversations where the fake victim was presenting the bait and this guy told her she was gonna get hurt if she kept inviting strange men to her house. The dude called the cops and showed up at the sting house and even had his story corroborated by the local cops but NBC still aired highly edited clips of this guy to make it seem like he was a pedo. I think that is ACTUALLY what led to the cancellation of the show. I don't know how the fuck the creator of this video didn't include this story. The death of the DA pretty much got the exact reaction as this comments section. Most people were quite pleased that a scumbag authority figure that regularly prosecuted teenagers for possession of marijuana, ended up dying in a terrified state of paranoia... knowing full well that everyone was gonna know he was a diddler. But after it got exposed that Hansen intentionally portrayed a fellow vigilante as being a kid-fucker, the network caught some serious heat. They also had another series of incidents where they had a sting-house that led to the detainment of like 20 pedo's but they were all cut loose because they used private security to carry out the investigations and arrests rather than involving local police. I think they also got caught trying to submit edited video footage as evidence to one of the courts. Personally, I think the man contributed a net-positive to society. Even though many of the arrests were thrown out, the show did manage to OUT quite a few unknown predators in communities that had no idea that they had child molesters in their midst. So I don't take any real issue with the original concept of the show but the way they did that one guy dirty was unforgiveable in my mind. Slapping the pedo label on someone is literally the worst thing you can do to someone and they appeared to very intentionally ruin this guys life.

It's weird Hansen would try to frame Onision as a cult leader instead of his more evident behaviour of grooming underage girls to use them for any purpose he wanted. Even from my cursory knowledge of Onision's history, those who've done the research know that his attempt to start a religion were very far in the past and ultimately fruitless. Hansen seems to want him to fit a particular narrative, which isn't good journalism. And what's even *more* bizarre is that there is so much you could do with the quasi legal or even likely illegal activities he's done, not to mention the evidence of abuse.
@smokythebear10044 жыл бұрын
Yeah as someone who watched all the interviews from the very beginning, Hansen only brought that up when the stories were starting to get repetitive or when he ran out of the more evident behavior in the first few interviews. I think he was just covering all his bases with this one not fixating on it. I personally always guessed that Chris was in this fornmoney but I didn’t care because I like how he tells it. That’s why people watch drama channels. I think people took him more seriosuly then they should have.
@Predalien1954 жыл бұрын
You are aware that cults are not always religious right? There are several cults over the years that religion is not the center piece of it all. A guy who grooms underage girls for his own agenda can very well be that of a cult, especially if they fall for it and get sucked into it all. That said, I don't think that was the case so much as it was just general predatory behavior.

I feel like his legacy with to catch a predator will outlive the bad shit he did later life. Like no one is going to care about this in 50 years but they'll still be watching to catch a predator probably. watching pedophiles get caught is timeless.
@TheDirtysouthfan4 жыл бұрын
But the question is, should that be a tv show? Should someone have an incentive to try to dramatize and film people getting caught for being pedophiles? Why not just make it a normal sting operation? I think it was good for maybe a couple predators, just to show us who these people are, that many are people we would never expect. You know, people with families, college students, even police officers, in addition to the kind of people we would expect i.e. 30-40 year old losers who still live with their parents and have no job. But the fact that it was a constant tv show and there was an incentive to keep going, it kind of led to its logical conclusion, especially as what they were doing was borderline entrapment.

Without the legitimacy of NBC, HvP comes off as bottom-tier sensationalism. I'm not sure. Cheating is not okay, but I don't really feel like that's enough to hate a guy. Then all the stuff about money, kind of seems like he got a big ego due to CTAP and got a bit too deep into debt, went a bit beyond his limits. Issue is now that he's still got that ego and he's still got debts. His desire to take down pedophiles may be genuine or may be just to keep his old claim to fame - it is good work, either way. I feel like maybe nothing will come of him though until he can humble himself, until he can realize and admit that he's messed up. Until then, he's just going to be a greedy conman scraping away at his former glory.

Thats not the problem over there. The real issues is trying to make him look like a shady journalist by using a pretext that has nothing to do with his professional integrity. That mean that every single idea you have is rotten, nothing good can come out of it. Its childlish to think that way. Whats next? You're not good at math? Must mean you're the dumbest human being that has ever existed. No, its not how it work. You're bad at math just mean you're bad at math, period. He's not a good husband. But what does it have to do with what he do as a pedophile hunter? Nothing. All i see when i read comment like "He have no right to act like he have the moral high ground on those pedophile cause he's cheating on his wife" is "i have no brain, help". What's next? that cops like to get wasted beyond reason from time to time, so he doesn't have the right to arrest criminals?

Of course he isn't but he wields a lot of power nonetheless, and he acts like he is the judge, jury and public executioner of these entrapped individuals. How many of them would have actually done anything if his little media posse hadn't said "come on, come on, yeah just do it - come on - come over...." and then after tempting and baiting them to do something they may not ordinarily ever had done... publicly shot them down in flames for his own ego and public image. This is entrapment of the highest order. He's not doing this to protect the little kiddies - he his making news to further his grubby little career and ego.
@burntpieceoftoast41484 жыл бұрын
@@Starwithnonname Nah, bud. Completely disagree...and I find it appalling that you are trying to stick up for these people. Were you one of those caught or something? These people that you are calling "entrapped" are guilty of having sexually explicit conversations with individuals they are led to believe are CHILDREN. They choose to say the things they say and choose to begin talking to the children in the first place. In a lot of cases, they are the ones to ask to meet in person in the first place...and when they are not, I see absolutely NOTHING wrong with pedo hunters giving the first invite if it means exposing another pedophile and/or having one arrested. I hope you do not have children. If you do, I would be seriously concerned for your child if you truly believe that these pedos being exposed is actually entrapment.
@Starwithnonname4 жыл бұрын
@@burntpieceoftoast4148 the key word here is "led to believe" - the point is they are NOT children - they are actors actively playing along with the game in order to make a TV show and get ratings and advertising money. If my child arranged on the Internet to meet a complete stranger in the house when I was not home - I'd kick his arse and tell him he got what he deserved. These are not children - they are posing as children and enticing these hopeless sad cases to actually go through with this. Secondly, they are not cruising the streets looking to abduct people - they are in chat rooms - this is the point of chat rooms. If I was chatting to a person and he suggested robbing a bank and I played along with it and arranged to set up a heist and encouraged him to go through with it - then when we went to do this heist - and dobbed him in - I would have to ask - would this bloke have done it if I had not played along with it and arranged it? The answer may be "no". All I am saying is there are far more dangerous criminals who deserved to get done. If the decoy had not played along with it - would they have done anything? I mean who in their right mind would think a 13 or 12 year old would actually set up a meeting like this? These blokes are sad little nobodies - who were offered candy and were too hopeless to say no. It's entrapment - pure and simple. And not for keeping the kids safe - it's for ratings and revenue. Focus on real criminals - god knows there is enough of them who need to get caught - these blokes are just sad and pathetic.
