The Chinese client drops world buffs (ony head) on the hour every hour in major cities with no turn ins needed. I think this would work well in NA because you could just log in a couple of minutes or at most 1 hour before your raid get the buffs then head into your raid. No more raid logging for multiple days at most you would be raid logged for about an hour.

My favorite option you suggested was to have NPC’s that give them to you with a cool down. But I would like to see them available from start to finish of the fresh servers release. So if you want to slap hard you can, but if you wipe you have to take your time and be more cautious about mechanics and pulls... I also wish every world buff would go off every hour (like on chinese servers) in each factions major cities. But only after you reach lvl 60 do they become accessible, as well as having the proper attunements. Example, you can’t get rallying cry or war chiefs blessing if you haven’t finished the Onyxia attunement, can’t get DME buffs without killing all bosses in all three wings of Dire Maul... and no heart of hakkar without killing Hakkar in ZG at least once. As well as making herb/mining nodes spawn at a frequency relative to the population. I remember playing vanilla and paying 40-50g for a black lotus and thinking that 50g was overpriced... and Mongooses being 2g each was the average... now I’m paying 15+g for a mongoose and can MAYBE find a couple of plaguebloom nodes after two hours of searching.

I couldn't agree more with option 5. My biggest complaint about Classic is the Raid Logging. I started Classic late... very late... not-until-AQ-late. My friends assured me this was no big deal because they'd carry me on their MC & BWL runs since they were DEing everything at that point aside from alt gearing. SUPER!!! What sounded like a GREAT idea quickly turned into a nightmare because, outside of tagging along on raid nights, I literally could not get one person to help me with any other activities (dungeons, class questlines, pvp, rep farming, etc.) because the entire guild consisting of 4 full raid teams refused to log into their mains because they were all buff locked for the week. Pugging any of these other activities, even on a high pop server, was virtually impossible as well due to the same reason. I'd fully support the removal of all world buffs and vote for zone-type buffs like we had back in Wrath. World buffs implement an element of toxicity into the entire game without people even intending to BE toxic. It's nuts.

I work as a dev. I'm pretty shitty at it, but i'm trying to get better. But one thing I can appreciate is people breaking down tasks, because I do it all day at work and see others do it as well. This video has considered so many things - example - the fact we already have Sayge's player only world buff. While this may seem so obvious DUH, it's not. It's not when you bundle it all together towards a complete thesis point. I'm not joking, you did free work for Blizzard explaining this. The pros, the cons. It's one of the best and most detailed summaries I have seen. I highly recommend you to send this to Blizzard (full-on being aware that you are pissing into the void). Try tagging their twitter or something with "here's a decision document as a video why XXX". Ironically enough - it's so detailed and professional that it doesn't really feel like entertainment - but rather - like a Q:A session on classic at Blizzcon (that doesn't exist - like COME ON. You could fill an entire day with panels on classic, but alas we have voice actor tributes and cooking shows *sigh*).. Anyways, great vid, keep it up guys and yeah - just wanted to let you know that someone out there appreciated the immense detail you went into this. I can see this took quite some time to formulate (this video) and it's impressive. You should be proud.

I don't disagree about them being a problem, but I still think WBs are the worst. Bots are a close second. I haven't seen anyone leave due to bots. Just grumbling and frustration. But WBs have lost us atleast 10 core raiders, and a bunch more short term members. Bots lost us none. Still hate them. And I think Blizzard is being dishonest when they say they can't deal with them. But, its just a cancer upon the economy really, not a cancer upon the core gameplay.

Actually you should think a bit ahead. The issues of world buffs and botting are linked together. Let me explain : world buff brought a culture of raidlogging into the game. Once you have your buffs, you have to stay logged off. You can't do dungeons anymore, you can't farm, you can't do any sort of activity, you just have to wait. Of course, you can do all these things with an alt. But a main character is, by definition, the character/class you enjoy the most. Doing things on an alt is not the same at all. So, because of this raidlogging culture, people invested less time into the game. They started to think "Oh, i can't play anymore ? No problem, i can just buy gold to the bots"'. And then RMTs become rampant. And then begin the GDKP culture / pay-to-win culture. All these topics are heavily connected. If you remove world buffs, people will slowly begin to play the game, once again, instead of staying logged off and buying gold off the bots. And then the bots will be far less present, because if there is less need, there is less supply. The only concern i have is : to what degree this world buffs / raidlogging / RMTs / GDKPing / boosting mentality has changed the players themselves, in their own way of playing ? The future will tell (TBC Classic)

I left Activision services and games in Panda beta. I'm pretty confident they're going to lose a customer for life. The job post boards are mostly in app game purchases designers and junk like that. The desire for them to have quality GMs and moderators in our game like we actually did have a vanilla is completely gone.

Disable all world buffs in Classic WoW raid instances. That'll do the job. Also, disable/fix 'smart' kiting paths in instances, to stop that aspect of the boosting culture. Now, please give a fresh Classic server with this please!

The thing that really sucks about world buffs. They make some classes more fun to play. You would think this would be the one standing positive, but it just goes to show the level of dependence people have for them even if it were this reason alone. I play a mage and having the increased crit along with the other mages in your group creates a unique playstyle that is team built.

Best option in my opinion would be to keep the regular world buffs as is so they can still be enjoyed for pvp/leveling/dungeons and whatever but also add NPCs inside the raids that sell the buffs at a decently high price. Make them have a CD of 4 hours of ingame time so dying/wiping still has consequence. Even if you go in with the buffs from a regular pop in Org/SW whatever and you wipe that means you can get new world buffs from the vendors or vice versa. I would rather see they make the bosses hit harder and have more HP than removing the buffs all together because it just feels SO good to see big numbers :)

Why not implement a quest chain and/or an idol based system (similar to AQ20/ZG), which can be collected during/up to specific sections of Naxx (say for example all trash and bosses up to the last boss in each wing). Collected by all the raid members, when X number of the item(s) are collected, you can buff the entire raid with a WB style buff from inside the raid itself...means that the people who are serious about the buffs can collect the items and use them at an appropriate time within the raid (maybe they can't progress past a specific boss, so they use the WB then), but also gives you the freedom to be able to clear X amount of the raid before getting the WBs? You could even break them into 'types' so X amount of item 1 = melee orientated buff. X amount of item 2 = healer based buffs.

I just watched your video today, a day after digital Blizzcon. You present some solid arguments. To me, removal of world buffs will present a new challenge and will intrigue players to restart. Total removal of world buffs in any instanced content, the very least. I strongly disagree to keep them for Nax. People restarting and willing to raid will have Nax already defeated. It makes sense to try do it without the boost. No world buffs for any instanced content, including Nax! Thats my two cents on the matter.

I think after you do the quest you should just be able to talk to the npc to get a consumable whenever. The consume would be unique and give you a 4hr logged in cd when you use it. Then you don't have to be raid logged all the time and you can't grief players with them, you just collect them and pop them at the start of raid. It still has the risk of dying in raid=no more world buffs. The cd would be there just to stop players from getting the consume popping it and getting another one for an extra round of buffs when they die in raid. They should also buff the other raids so be on the level of nax.

i have been in the exact same boat as you Melderon. we were a chill dad-guild not requiring buffs. and we took the same route as you. we did however get 15/15 Naxx. and now people are quitting on a daily basis. its hard to keep players motivated to get the buffs/consumes needed to clear naxx comfortably in a guild as ours, where the skill lvl varies from the biggest pumper to the laziest casual.

On fresh seasonal servers an idea would be to give players a personal item like a hearthstone that has all world buffs (except DMF) rolled into it. Give it a 24hr CD and make it scale with lvl Edit: I’d personally rather no WBs

Time-gated WBs was the other way around on private servers. They were banned in new raid tier for some weeks, to make the race to first clear more challenging. You got it backwards, and i dont see how you could want it that way.

If I'm being 100% honest if they do you have fresh classic I'm not playing it I have no desire to not lessors significant changes. One honor system changed completely I'll say it from when they announced dead I'll say it now it's hot garbage Even competitive PVP players will say that. Dual spec I don't care if it wasn't in the game initially I don't care of it was an NBCI think the good outweighs the badd by an extra vent amount and I've said it a million times if I get pick one thing from retail it would be dual spec. As far as world buffs go just make them like a Lake sers make them so they can't be dispelled make them so they last through death problem solved. That's my opinion on them I think as much of a pain the but it is to get all of those I feel players should have the final and full time I of them and quite honestly the fact that they never dead in can beat spell by players I think is just badd in toxic gameplay. As far as dungeon boosting goes if I'm being quite honest people say that lovely as 90% of the content speaking from someone that played back then. Even if it is Just my opinion classic while leveling is awful and sucks I can honestly say leveling through it now and leveling back then there is never a point crime as in joyful of it. I enjoy doing dungeons with my friends I enjoy doing braiding with friends the only time I ever had find questing was when I was doing a leak West with other people. So I'm completely fine with it yeah it does suck a little bed no question and it's not 100% good for the game. By like someone else said what really is that content it's leveling it's not think something it's just something you have to do. Now my saying level boosts should come in no absolutely not I don't wanna see a paid level 60 boast or a level 50 or whatever. I personally don't have an issue with dunging cleave groups of people want to do that that's their choice and they should have a right to that choice. However what I do have a problem with is Bots as a whole I think that's the worst thing in classic while because we're not the player base we were back in 2004 its 2021. And like it or not people don't have the time to sit there for hours on and it's the same reason I really don't want to do next ramis as the prospect of spending over a 1000 gold from my re consumables as not some me it sounds appealing or fun. I would rather stop at AQ40 and call it A-day if I'm being honest. Is it a good raid no question is it the jam that everyone makes it out to be I don't think so Mainly just because a lot of the difficulty that doesn't come from the mechanics itself it's the fact that if we don't have this consumable we can't kill this. Don't get me wrong I'm not saying it doesn't require the most coronation out of them all I'm just saying that's the core of the difficulty I mean if you took out the consumable aspect of next ramis what that's 80% of the difficulty for a good portion of the bosses. Maybe that's a bit much let's say I would probly say to pay in the fight maybe 30% but still. Anyway that's my opinion on

Make world buffs available to be picked up in every raid but create an option to reject the world buffs for more loot drops. This way struggling guilds can still get the buffs to help clear the content and guilds looking for a bit more of a challenge are rewarded with more loot drops.

I feel like no world buffs in raids will mean that hardcore PVE’ers, such as the speed running guilds of today, will have no interest in fresh. I think dispelling world buffs is very uninteresting and not interactive at all. However I think it’s perfectly fine that you can be ganked or killed with them. It’s a perfectly normal mmo element imo, powerful world buffs are a useful resource like anything else in the game. There’s no option that will please everyone. So what logic should they base their decision on? please as many people as possible? Create most competition? Create the most difficulty? It’s hard to say what is the most appropriate. As someone who started day 1 classic I’d just like for them to keep everything the way it is. Except I’d make all buffs undispellable. I’m not saying I think this is the best solution, but it would be my personal preference.

I think there is a simple fix. Leave them in place and remove logging out from stopping the buff timers. This way if the guild wants to jump through the hoops they can but it’s far more difficult to stack. You will be forced to go in with fewer

is wiping part of progression/raiding an MMO? if you answer yes, then WBs cannot be part of an enjoyable MMO experience. period. sure they are nice, buffing the strongest classes in the game even more. but you die ONCE and the mood in the raid tanks. this is incredibly bad "game design" (wasn't really designed to begin with). Just my 2c. Lfr was crap for the same reason and the start of a steady decline in this mmo. Exclusivity as a result of greater effort/ ability/ gear is crucial to an mmo.

@@DefcampMelderonTV Hey, thanks for the reply. Yes, I have done Naxx (13/15). Some bosses (Loatheb and Patch) are hard without buffs, but are doable. I didn't expect to see the end of Naxx while wearing t2.5. Any new raids in my view should be tough enough that you need to progress through it, gear up from it and then complete it. Hence my comment that I believe world buffs just for Naxx and just for 'tourists' to see all the content I disagree with.

Sorry to disagree with you there. I wish world buffs to still be present, it's part of Classic, and it's been part of vanilla retail. Even though those were less used because using world buffs was not the norm back then. Competitive guilds back then used them pretty often ( at the exception of dire maul ). Yes it breeds toxicity within the game, but that's not world buffs that are toxic, it's the fact that you can dispell those and getting them are pretty dangerous. I guess the problem is the normalization of using world buffs, its easy removal and what comes from it, not world buffs themselves.

There's a difference between I can and the vast majority of raids can't. Check the logs. Rebuffing is required for 80% of guilds. I personally am not afraid of anything, I've done all the content with and without. This is a just a thought experiment. World buffs aren't needed to do Naxx, no but if most of the player base can't access it, it's hard to keep servers afloat

If I remember correctly, part of the Classic hype was the freedom to play the game how we want. If Blizzard removes WBs then the ultra competitive crowd is being told they're not allowed to play how they want. It's up to the community to make these decisions and unfortunately the community is pretty toxic. All that being said, I wouldn't mind hot having WBs be the meta, but not necessarily at the expense of other people's fun.

To me the problem isn't world buffs, they allow many things (like feral druid or elemental shaman) to perform to a good level. The problem with naxx imo was that not everyone can play all day or are willing to spend 90% of the time they can play farming gold while gold buyers spend their time gearing alts in gdkp and buying every consumable for their mains on AH totally unpunished. Also, ganking players at songflower it's griefing, you are only doing to fuck other people wbuffs (i can deal w that, at least aren't kamikaze dispellers. But it's the truth). And also, and sorry for puting it that way, but I feel that you are one of the less indicate people to talk about this topic at this point tbh: You are an "OG player" that makes wow content and streams it as well (so you ain't casual by any means), you admited that your "casual guild" went more "semi hardcore" after X time. And all that in Skeram, a 99% horde serverbi believe? I love your content and it's always worth checking it. But i think that you are clearly biased about this topic to the point it diminishes the value of the opinion you give about the topic itself. Casual people that want to experience all the game may want/need wbuffs (my guild needed 2 weeks to dosn twins, grabing wbuffs second week f.e.). "Casual people" may want to experience the game completely without the need to buy gold or spend their playtime farming gold due to consumables prices going insanely up thanks to gold buying inflation (let's ignore mages farming, that's not the problem). And casual people on pvp servers that aren't skeram may need much more time grabing worldbuffs, avoiding dispellers and competing for world resources due to the other faction actually existing in their server. My english it's not the best so I apologize if I sound condescending but that's my opinion. Love the content but this vid is geting a dislike by me, don't agree at all. Nevertheless apreciate always seeing new videos and keeping the "classic talk" alive when many people talk about SL/TBC.

Remove from raids. Waste my playing time and gold running around to get them. Scared I'm going to get ganked or debuffed. Then I have to raid log the character I want to play the most.This isn't funny. Also just tune down to content (where needed) to account for no WBs

Not realy. Balance is still not good (PVE and PVP). Dungeons and Raids are still easy. Dungeondesigne is boring as f. Flying kills every World PVP. Bloodelves ( i hate them). Sorry for my bad english.
