My favorite way to beat balthazar is to say "yes ill help" then close the door to his office, park my casters in front of the door, park my paladin right next to him. Anyway I started Smiting.

I beat the Creche leader with a combo of going into turn based while stealthed, casting hold person him, and rekting her in one turn before she could react because she was held.

My strat is to 1) Kill the Dark Justiciars in the main room 2) Talk to Balthazar and obey his commands 3) On both sides of the room he is in, there are high ledges that your characters and jump to. Balthazar’s undead cant hit you when you’re up there (away from the ledge) 4) Have everyone jump on those platforms and target Balthazar first 5) Once Balthazar is dead, pelt his minions until they’re dead

Don’t forget you can also throw a silence bubble on him and just have your casters and ranged just turn him into a pincushion.

I just covered Balthazar’s entire room with explosive barrels that you can find in the Last Light basement and a couple of Alchemist Fires. One shot with a fire arrow and they were all dead in seconds.

You can also get the bell from balthazar and summon flesh into a different fight. He's a pretty easy kill by himself, then ol bally boy is pretty trivial

Personally, I just used good ole’ barrelmancy after the justiciar fight. It wiped the entire room and I got to enjoy caging Balthazar in a barrel pyramid. 😂

I had something similar happen in my playthrough. However I killed everyone outside first. Flesh did the job for me. Apparently a berserk flesh golem is nothing to sneeze at.

On the night song platform I threw all of his skeletons into a pile before the fight, when the fight started I just threw holy water at them and my paladin just smited him down

Two of the bonuses are from armor, one is just the dex stat and the other two are proficiency and expertise (which is something bards and rogues get). Bards and rogues can have difficulty sometimes being damage dealers in battle, but the classes make up for it by having some nice noncombat perks like this

@@raeg1100bards have zero difficulty as damage dealers. 6 in sword bard gives you 4 (ranged) slashing flourishes per short rest, use dual hand crossbows or titanstring and go ham. Get 2 levels in fighter and you can action surge to use all 4 flourish charges on turn 1 for 8 main hand attacks without haste or a bloodlust elixir.

There is some incredible armor skill stacking you can do with any character with high dex. The armor used in this video can be obtained from the woman outside the Gith Creche (the member of the Society of Brilliance)

The way I’ve found you can beat him effortlessly is by bringing him to the night song, then before initiating the dialogue where you choose to let him take her or not, turn invisible with a character with high strength and shove him into the void

I've made a mistake of initiating this with Divination Wizard and Lore Bard in party. Balthazar's whole army was neutral, and thus subject to pop-up "do you wanna reroll?" Took _ages_ . Seeing Balthazar - with all his Legendary Resistances and Actions - go down like a chump without lifting a finger (while casually stealing his Mother) was increadibly satisfying though.

While hes monologuing to Nightsong, he has terrible situational awareness. Hitting him from the rock above the platform with everyones scorching ray will kill him if you do it within 2 turns

I saw a video like this ages ago and I tried it out on my evil run and it worked! So I did it for my Honor mode run because I was NOT doing the Balthazar fight at the end in Honor mode because that took me like 4 attempts on a normal save to do, much less an honor mode one. It works like a charm! Just have them fight, use the chests in the room to create a barrier in front of the door one everyone leaves, and fling a couple of spells here and there at Balthazar before closing the door again. Worked like a charm

If you're solo you can sneak or go invisible in the middle of the fight, and as long as they fail to detect you the door will open to start the first cutscene with Balthazar.

for quest progression - yes for balthazar and flesh - no since they are neutral to player. You have to finish them off yourself to get exp

No, but I saw in some video or another that if you attack balathazar before you go invisible he and his retinue turn hostile to you, so you get the xp when they die.

Meh. What are those several hundred XP worth at this point of the game? You are Level 8-9, maybe even 10. There are no power spikes in sight until 11 (6th Spellslot, 3rd attack). And you get Level 12 so early, I actually tend to delay it a bit.

No need for Rogue in your party, tbh. Just don't go North in Shar temple, go to the left to the room with duplicating flying fish. You will emerge before Bally's room right after.

You can trade with him also and if you trade him a susser bloom he is unable to cast spells unless they are sheild spells he only has mage armor so it is the only spell he will cast and you can kill him easy

Warning do not sell one to the illithid in the mushroom colony as when you see him later he lacks the movement speed to escape the situation and hell die if he has a susser if he dosnt have one he misty steps or blinks out he's not important to the story as he already gave his buff but still no reason to kill him he sells good things and is good squid Boi. He's also so grateful and confused by your actions as saving him is not a logical decision

Has anyone has issues with shadow hearts progression line if you kill Balthazar early? Not glitches, I’ve played through the game twice with killing Balthazar on the night song platform but tried this trick in a multiplayer run with some friends. Don’t know if it was just our absence in having a good relationship with Shadowheart but without Balthazar there as a confrontation, Shadowheart at best hesitates before always killing Nightsong without any rolls to stop her and then killing all of Last Light

Nope. If you don’t destroy the umbras during this fight (Balthazar is too stupid to do that), they’ll spit out several very strong justiciar crusaders. You’ll need to fight them afterwards and they’re much more pain than Balthazar. At least on Tactician. So I don’t recommend this approach
