DEFEAT OF THE CX5 DEADBOLT 1600 DEADBOLT LOCK

The CX5-1600 was a lock produced in Canada and appeared to be a knock-off of the Medeco Maxum deadbolt in the U.S. The mechanical portion of the lock contained traditional bitting and a laser track key. Watch the analysis by Security Labs of the design failures of this lock. It is discussed in the new book Tobias on Locks and Insecurity Engineering, to be released in March 2024 by Marc Weber Tobias. This is just one of many examples of design failures that can lead to the compromise of locks and safes.
