I think it's a good movie. I'm not going to dislike a movie for having retarded feminist undertones. It's a good movie. Marvel films are always good. Females need their movies to feel empowered. I don't have a problem with it. If I don't like a movie I can simply choose not to watch it. I'm not going to whine and cry if it doesn't hurt anybody. I thought it was an okay movie and actually enjoyed it, except for scenes like The Don. I knew what they were going to do from the moment I saw it and wished they hadn’t gone there. Hell, if he had grabbed her butt or something it could have been played for humor. Since he didn’t and was a vanilla bland and nothing ‘this is how jerks act’ shot at the fans who didn’t like the lack of personality they had planned for her, I found it cringey.

See, the funny thing about this to me is that despite being a guy, I've been told to smile before on multiple occasions, because I'm a stoney-faced guy who doesn't emote much unless I'm having fun. By this logic, I was repeatedly sexually harassed by my peers and teachers in school.

“Wolverine is a villain.” It’s funny that he’d even insinuate this considering that in the comics, Logan is the one who carries on Charles’ dream of peaceful coexistence between humans and mutants. Not Cyclops. Not Beast. Wolverine. The man who was treated as little more than an animal and a weapon by humanity is the one to carry on Charles Xavier’s dream of coexistence with these people. That’s what a hero does.

@Dog House He acted in a violent way after the biker refused to cooperate. But again, they are booth different situations. T-800's directive was to protect John and if John hadn't ordered him to not kill, he would have killed most of the people they crossed in the movie. So T-800 spent the rest of the movie incapacitating other humans or forcing them to retreat with higher firepower because John's order modified the priorities in his directive.
@Zenn_Chan
@Zenn_Chan 5 жыл бұрын
Dog House also if we're to look at it in a meta way, that scene in T2 was meant to make the T-800 look like the villain to build up to the twist that he's there to help John. So he's meant to look evil in that scene. And then Plank casually does it and she's meant to be the hero

Superman then starts using his eye lasers (aka heat beam) on low intensity on the woman's wrist, causing her to try to frantically pull away. I remember posting a scene from the D.C. universe where a guy attempts to grope Harley Quinn at a restuarant. She throws him and breaks his arm. Now THAT'S clear cut sexual harassment and the dude was dealt with beautifully making it justified and great to watch. Here it's done to vaguely as The Don is only casually flirting with Carol before SHE gets physical with him. It's a bit of an overreaction which is why a lot of people disagree with it.

Yeah, The Don MAY have been a bit rude by pushing the paper down, but it was broad daylight, she clearly heard him approaching thanks to his motorcycle and boots, and he moved very slowly. There were people all around them, it was broad daylight, and he never made any gestures that would convey the idea that he intended her any harm. There is no reality where Carol’s response is justified. People who act like it’s justified are either simply saying that to earn brownie points with their progressive friends, or they literally want the world to have a giant wall down the center, where men and women live on either side, so that men are never allowed to so much as interact with women, aside from maybe the occasional sperm donations.

I expect someone uses Rags' argument of "She was never in any danger" on Wolverine, and try to make that argument "hypocritical" or something. Well, if we remove the whole "Wolverine is actually getting attacked" schtick, Cpn. Marvel is shown, intentionally or just through shitty acting, that she is very calm and shows little to no emotion. Wolverine is exact opposite, in movies and comics is shown, that he has a really short fuse, gets angry all the time, and very often acts before he thinks. Few times it is shown as his strength (in tough fights for example) , and very often as his flaw. He screws up fights due to attacking without plan, gets into arguments (especially with Cyclops) with his team etc. And, the bar scene is an establishing shot, to show us who Wolverine is, unlike Cpn. Marvel, who has been on the screen for a while already. Also, who would let himself be stabbed for fucks sake?
@brofist1959
@brofist1959 5 жыл бұрын
Wolverine may not be in danger of dying, but he still feels pain when he gets hit. He's not invulnerable, he just can't be killed. There is a big difference between those 2 things. Let's also not forget Wolverine didn't actually kill him or steal anything from him, he just threatens him and then leaves. The scene goes: >Wolverine walks into bar >Wolverine sits down and orders a beer >Wolverine pays >Fight club dude comes in and demands his money back >Fight club dude says "I know what you are" >Wolverine says "You lost your money, you keep this up you're gonna lose somethin' else" >Fight club dude pulls a knife >Wolverine pins him against the wall, extends his left and right claws around his neck and slowly extends his middle claw but doesn't actually penetrate the skin >Bartender aims a shotgun at Wolverine's head and tells him to leave >Wolverine cuts the shotgun in half with his other hand's claws >Wolverine eyes them both down to make sure they're not a threat anymore >Wolverine withdraws his claws, adjusts his jacket, and leaves, both the bartender and fight club dude completely intact and unharmed. There is absolutely no argument whatsoever that Wolverine behaved in any way villainous. Maybe one might try to say there was no justification for cutting the shotgun in half, but if I were Wolverine and a shotgun was pointed at my head I might behave in much the same way because I don't want to take the risk of getting shot, and frankly there was no justification for introducing the shotgun in the first place since I hadn't actually done anything wrong.

When I saw the deleted scene the first time I did think the Don't was a tad bit of a douche but harmless otherwise. When I saw Legal Eagle's defense of this I had to point out that it was like a person in full riot gear with a drawn gun vs some guy. I don't know how or why they are defend Marvel, she was completely within the wrong especially as the hero. Never once tried to deescalate the situation and instead resorted to the use of overt force. The flirting wasn’t even overt. A guy with a motorcycle can ask someone if they want a ride. Sure his tone was flirtatious, but there was nothing to suggest that she couldn’t just say “no thanks” or “I only ride with women” and dude on bike would ride away. If the filmmakers wanted to show he was a douche then there are many worse things to have him say, or he could get aggressive when she says no. If the message is “girl power” then it falls flat at best. And video dude is a homophobe. If his scenario was filmed, and a guy asked another guy out and the guy shot him, the lgbtq community would be outraged. Hell, almost everyone would be.

I assume he wants something sexual, why else do random douchey looking guy walk up to an attractive perso of the opposite sex? I don't assume he's gay for some reason. Him offering help and a ride has ulterior motives, I assume. Let's take all the events of actual bad things happening to women and take revenge on this guy, who hasn't yet done anything wrong, because he looks like someone who I find threatening." Also the scene was deleted, which shows the filmmakers have some sense, but still left it on the DVD...

I really enjoyed Wonder Woman even tho describing Luddendorf (somebody who was trying to establish peaceful way to end WW1 after fronts stagnated again in late 1917) as a war dog and psychopath searching for blood was just disgusting. But the same Wonder Woman? She does mistakes, she is not perfect but she is LIKEABLE. Why? She is positive, she fight for her friends and for herself, she believes in people, she doesn't understand the world around her but she try to act in the most morally correct way. Captain Marvel kills and hurts others and later acts like a savior.

I still wonder why the second film is not as loved as the first film. I think the second film is better in terms of the character development and moments. A lot of what I heard is that its more of the same thing. I mean, yea, sure, its Guardians, their should be more of the funny. But I find that it does a lot more serious points then the first one.
@FastForwardPlans

@@BlazeHeartPanther I think its because of how focused the movie was, the first had about...2 subplots going. The second had about 5, which made things feel a heck of a lot less focused. Side plots are good, they add complexity to a story, but I think there were a tad too many in the second movie. The avengers movies were able to make a bunch of subplots work in infinity work, and I have no idea how they did that, but usually, that can make it harder to appriciate everything. Thats just my opinion though. Either way both GOTG are awesome.

The "It's fiction so it doesn't matter" argument always pisses me off. *We Live In A Society* where movies, games, books and other things are made with the intention of having an effect on you and reality around you. Take something recent like Death Stranding. That game is specifically made with the intention of a fictional story carrying something that can be applied to the real world. Even children aspiring to be superheroes can gain something positive from it. Not only is this disrespectful to creators but also defeats their purpose of defending fictional characters.

What confuses me the most is the fact that they pick Captain Marvel to prop up as the face of the MCU and the perfect example of a strong, independent female character. Why her? She is literally the worst choice to pick for that. You can pick literally any other female character in the MCU and any of them would be a better choice. Black Widow, Scarlet Witch, Gamora, Nebula, The Wasp, hell even Mantis! All of those characters are really good female characters that are actually like-able and well written, and would be a way better choice to pick for the best example of a strong female character in the MCU, but instead they decide to pick Captain Marvel, a psychopathic bully who solves everything with violence and aggression. And it doesn’t help that she’s played by Brie Larson, whose acting ability is equivalent to stale bread, and has also said many iffy things in regards to identity politics and sexism. I wouldn’t exactly call her character a good role model or hero, unlike the other women I listed earlier.
@FastForwardPlans
@FastForwardPlans 5 жыл бұрын
I kind of expected Scarlet witch to pick up that role, she is potentinally the most powerful character to show up so far. In the comics thanks to a tragic event she makes mutants cease to exist in multiple different universes. It would be cool if, as a consaquence to all the pain she has gone through in these movies, her powers go into overdrive like in the comic, and she makes mutants, to explain how they will suddently appear in the MCU now that Disney bought the rights. That would make a badass movie, and would make a great introduction to her having powers closer to how strong her comic counterpart is. She, (if you don't count captain marvel) is also perhaps the most mature character left in the team at this point, and with all the stuff she went through, has plenty of experinces to use as a baseline to become a leader, and female face for the mcu if they need that.

Whether it's a punch, a slap, a twist of the wrist of total obliteration is irrelevant, if it is a situation in which violence is not called for then it is unacceptable to respond with violence of any degree, no matter how minor or major, especially if you want to be regarded as a heroic or morally righteous individual.
