On direct examination, the attorney is not allowed to ask leading questions. On cross examination, the attorney is allowed to ask leading questions.

I'm not quite sure why he was the defenses "witness". How is his testimony helping the defense? It sounded like he acknowledged that Savanah didn't want to have anything to do with Will Lewis. She was afraid of him, and that whole "spy texting" thing was just a joke. I think he helped the prosecution.
