Well, let's address the elephant in the room! Leadership is there for simple purpose - to make the company more efficient. You may be loved by people, but if the bottom line is always questionable, such leadership has little value. Leaders aren't there to be loved or entertain people. Leadership is often a reflection of many things. When a situation is difficult you may have to make tough decisions. That won't get you loved, but they have to be made all the same. Under more pleasant circumstances you don't have to push people, so it's much easier to be liked this way.
