12:35 I think you got confused the Outcasts with Eastcoast faction. The storyteller's comment about attacking raiders did not come from altruism was about the Outcasts, not the Eastcoast. By recruiting from the locals the Eastcoast became a major faction controlling Washington.
@charlie7mason Жыл бұрын
Yep, they definitely got confused. They didn't realize that a faction split OFF from the East Coast Brotherhood because the new faction thought the East Coasters were getting soft and helpful to the wasteland inhabitants and no longer zealots for pre-war tech.
@Undivided-X Жыл бұрын
The Eastern Brotherhood was also instrumental in helping the player character of Fallout 3 and the science team from Rivet City to implement a project to make clean water available to everyone in the DC Wasteland.

I will never understand why that was a problem in the first place. The West Coast never even had that problem, everyone and their mother's dog was capable of purifying water without having a special mcguffin. Hell, tribals are more capable of purifying water than the people in DC.

*fun fact about the bomb in the center of that town. When you get there, the citizens of the town talk about how that the bomb is still active, but one of them says they can pay you if you can disable it. (If you have the right skills that is.)* *However, there's this bar where you can find a guy in a suit, he'll try to persuade you into planting a gizmo in the bomb, enter this fancy building far enough from the town, and detonate it. Causing most of the townsfolk to die, with you losing a ton of Karma too.*

Because it is very far away in the series I wanted to tell you all that when Lyons died his daughter took over, then she died soon after and Arthur maxon, descendent of the founder of the brotherhood and fanatic in his own right, decided to merge the outcasts and regular brotherhood by bringing in wastelanders but still being about collecting and destroying technology instead of helping the people

After meeting the East coast brotherhood again in Fallout 4, you’re worry about what would happen after Lyons is no longer in charge is warranted.
@MandalorianRevan Жыл бұрын
Not really. The East Coast Brotherhood is still very different from the West Coast Brotherhood. Owen Lyons raised Arthur and only repealed enough of his policy to make the Outcasts come back. They still recruit wastelanders. Neither Danse nor Haylen are Steelborn for instance. All he did was revert the Brotherhood's mission to recovering tech over protecting civilians.

Liberty Prime is in Fallout 3 campaign, great game.
@bthsr7113 Жыл бұрын
While the Outcasts were cold to their fellow man and resentful of the protectors of the common folk who lived in the Citadel, the red stained brotherhood had one element of adaptation that kept them in the game, even as they skewed closer to the ways of an organization that declined on the west coast/in the Mojave. Their adoption of robot auxiliaries to supplement combat forces. Though of course, if Lyons had also adopted this idea along with protecting the little guy and taking people in as full members, the Outcasts would be thoroughly on the back foot, but there were more important foes to consider. For the people under Lyons and the man himself, it wasn't just propaganda. A real threat had come to fester in the capital, so he would see it routed. The Children they rescued from the Pitt would have died there, likely worked to death. Indeed, some adults they might have considered rescuing would likely have been dead men and women walking. And teaching kids how to stay safe in the wasteland is just good parenting Though while Lyons may have led one of the most moral factions in the setting, nothing lasts forever. That said, by the same token, The East Coast Brotherhood could one day become an even greater beacon of safety and enlightenment, founding something noble that could last for a good while. Only time will tell.
@flakes1972 Жыл бұрын
Just gotta clarify quickly! The East Coast Brotherhood under Lyons was very much into the humanitarian aspect of protecting the wasteland from threats and assisting the people. The outcasts, being those who deserted Lyons and forged their own group - Are the ones that took issue with Lyons valuing people over technology and formed the 'We're only doing it to further the cause' group called the outcasts.

The reason being all the FO1, and 2 fans complaining that the Brotherhood was supposed to be a bunch of future tech nazis, and they hated Lyons, and his Brotherhood for actually caring about the people of the Commonwealth.
@MandalorianRevan Жыл бұрын
@@yannym4605 Hardly Nazis. They don't hate people outside their group- but they do mistrust them. Which isn't unreasonable given some of the groups in the Wasteland. And even then, Maxon is a moderate who is every bit as practical as his ancestor. He didn't repeal all of Lyon's policies. They still recruit Wastelanders- something the Western Brotherhood rarely does. They just prioritize tech recovery over the human factor- which to be fair, given some of the groups out in the Wasteland- isn't the most unreasonable thing to do. Plus it appeals to the purists and traditionalists in the Brotherhood- bringing the Outcasts back into the fold. It was a compromise he needed to make.

@@MandalorianRevan Honestly Maxson's BOS is probably the best the BOS has been he combines the best elements of the western BOS with Lyon's BOS.
@lawrence5584 Жыл бұрын
They don't. The tragic irony is that after Lyan's daughter's death, the next "great leader" took the Brotherhood back to the old ways. While superficially he justified his actions by saying the Brotherhood was protecting the people of the wasteland from the trash, in reality this was a cover to justify their expansion into areas such as Boston, areas they had no legitimate claim to. Thus, they became a "softer" version of the Enclave.

Some people say that Liberty Prime hosts the soul and spirit of Lauri A Törni, better known in the US as Larry A Thorne, Soldier of 3 Armies. Finnish Defense Forces, German SS and the US Green Berets. Died in the US - Vietnman war and buried in Alrington with full honours, or so the official record sais. His "remains" were only discovered quite recently, but some say his death was just a cover story for an anti-communist super soldier, cryo genetically frozen inside Mount Cheyenne with a label "In case of a Communist surgency, break glass", but we all know the real story. His brain was obviously stored and uploaded into a giant murder mecha of Liberty Prime. This is a man that would fight Communism anywhere, anytime with anyone and in anyway possible, regardless of what the truth is from the official records. Maybe a little bit of a hyperbolic, but the true real life story behind the guy isn't all that much less strange, or epic to be honest.

Even the most traveled have only seen one continent after the bombs dropped. What Europe, Asia, South America, Africa, and Antarctica look like are unkowns. They may be doing better or worse than the wastes of America. But even the nearest would necessitate a long march though the wastes or a sailing expedition through changed waters.

Future tech nazi is a pretty dark shade of evil. Lyon’s Eastern Brotherhood was just as snobbish, and jealous over their tech as their western brothers, and the Outcasts, but they weren’t genocidal xenophobic nazis either. There was actual nuance in their mission beside being glorified hoarders.
