The worst horror of GBM is the fact that it traps a perfectly healthy mind inside a body that no longer works. Despite how it may appear, that poor girl may well be completely conscious. She may be using the slightest bit of control she has left over her body to communicate with her family and caregivers. In her place, I would hope I would be granted the mercy of belief in what limited abilities I possessed.

sooo I had to point this out because it made me really mad. In the first couple of seconds the nurses were just trying to get the girl on to the bed and the father was helping like any father would. out of no where one of the nurses told the father to just not touch the girl and back off. like no! the father had the right to help, it’s his daughter for god sake. now thinking of it, it’s making my eyes water because of the way that lady acted towards the father. all he is trying to do is be their for his girl. the lady could have stated it way better than just that. so rude !

The nurses need space to do what they need to do to save a patient's life. A hovering parent only makes things harder and makes them take longer when seconds can be the determining factor if somebody lives or dies. They could have been a little nicer but it's their job to care for the patient.
@amalyoj46 жыл бұрын
i understand how it kind of hurts but this is their job they did the same for my aunt she wasn't allowed to see her son in icu and when something urgent comes like the heartbeating is low or something loke that they scream at her face but yah this is what are they supposed to do anyways if that was their reaction it means that they care for the life their saving

Yes she sure was. Those are her parents. Atleast treat them respectfully, there is a certain manner that you should address someone especially as a health care provider. If you would prefer the parents to sit so u can do your work faster ask delicately. Remember this is a fragile time for them as they feel that at any time they could lose her and it is in a parents instinct to help their child. Especially since im sure that they have been trained in her special care needs and have been doing it for quite some time now. Rude people should not work in jobs that require them to interact with others. I would have made sure to file a complaint and had the nurse switched. To be honest the first thing that popped into my mind was, if she is showing lack of compassion and care for the parents, how would she treat her defenseless patient when she becomes angry or frustrated. This is how abuse starts in hospitals and nursing homes.

Dear all For those who empathise with the parents Have anyone thought of the girl feelings ? My late Wife was exactly the same as the girl. Brain tumor to brain cancer. It is hard to let go. However , to see one’s love one to suffer and being torture. It is beyond one’s comprehen unless you really been through it. Brain cancer have no cure. Chemo and radiotherapy can only prolong the life to live and suffer. When the doctor told me that to let go my Wife and let her end her suffering. Though very very hard to let go..I let her go and passed away in my arms.

Thank you for saying this. The parents are mistaking her reflexes for communication. This is terrible that they are dragging this out like that. She has lived 3 years only because of life sustaining measures but what kind of life does she have? My aunt is dying from brain cancer right now. Stage 4 glioblastoma means you will die. My Aunt chose to have quality over quantity and not do anymore treatments. I just can't imagine her dragging it out. She wants to spend what time she has left coherent and aware for as long or short as she has. To each their own. I am so so so sorry about your wife. God rest her soul. ♥️

My sincere condolences to you. I cannot imagine losing my husband in such a difficult way. I respect your opinion, and you have every right to feel the way you do, but respectfully, so do Sing Yu’s parents. They are caring for her well, and that’s how they are dealing with their personal tragedy. You aren’t wrong, and neither are they. I watched my mother lose her battle with pancreatic cancer far too young, and I myself almost died several times this year from bone disease, so I do have some understanding of the devastating choices you have to make at the end of life. It’s never easy, and it is always painful. I do disagree with those who say Sing Yu is not conscious. She responds to commands and attempts to communicate. When the young nurse tells her to relax her hand while she is bathing her, she does so immediately. You can see her moving her mouth while listening to her boyfriend on the phone, you can see her respond purposefully to her father doing range of motion exercises for her. She may be helpless and unable to speak, but I do not believe she’s in a vegetative state. She may still have wants and needs. As her parents said, we know GBM is a death sentence, much like my mom’s Stage IV pancreatic cancer was, but choosing how and when to give up fighting is the patient’s and family’s personal decision. I’m very sorry you lost your wife; I can’t imagine the suffering you still endure. I do wish you find happiness and healing.

This is my mother's story. 😢 A vey healthy 65 year old female. Suddenly dizzy spells, and severe headaches. The doctors told my mother there wasn't anything wrong with her for about a year. Then one day her speech was slurred...they told her it was stage 4 brain cancer. She was operated on, and came out ok. She was healthy again. Then in a few months the doctors told her the tumor came back, and they operated again. She had a stroke, did chemo and radiation, and died six months later. Her six children loved her, and took very good care of her, but it wasn't enough. 💔

I hope this is what SHE wants, though I don't know. She responds when the nurse tells her to relax her hand, so maybe she's aware. But I'm not sure if that's good or bad. Watching family members taking care of their loved ones because of cancer truly break my heart Coz the same happened with my dad. He was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer after two monthe at the hospital, we were told by the doctors to move to palliative care. It was really hard, i felt everything was falling apart. Day by day my father just becomes weaker and weaker to the point he cant talk and just sleeps. My father was like the strongest and healthiest man ever and to see him in such a state only God knows how i felt.... Sadly my dad succumb to his illness in the early morning of 30th April 2019 at his home. I didnt screamed but i just cried silently at the corner. It is really hard for us for both my mum and i to this day. Sometimes i wonder why God take him that early but i have no choice but to accept that it was his time. Its just that, my mum and i really love him so much 😞

If you look in the dictionary for the meaning of the word "suffering", it is the state of a person or thing that suffers. But in their situation, I see such spirit and drive to push on with life.
