@ripthereverb7 жыл бұрын
Absolutely brilliant and talented performance. Kenny and Deke are utilizing double neck guitar playing at its best. As one viewer wrote, this song was originally performed by Joe Maphis and a very young Larry Collins in the 1950's on double neck Mosrite guitars hand made by legend guitar luthier Semi Moseley. Kenny always reminds me of a young Hank Marvin of England's famous instrumental band "The Shadows". To play this difficult instrumental not only on national TV but with legend "Duane Eddy" sitting in the front row audience watching every finger movement would be nerve racking for most performers. A wonderful post. Thank you!

Jody Maphis, Joe's son. Went to jr. high with Jody in Atwater, California. Both of us played in the school band and both of us together got to play electric guitar with the band. Big deal back in those days. Awesome to see Kenny using Jody's Mosrite.

Real country artists don't go on stage looking like they stopped off at the venue on their way home from picking up dog food and frozen pizza at Walmart. Whenever I see some "country" artist in a T shirt and ball cap, I know its going to suck. (Yeah, I'm talking to you Luke Bryan.) This is actual country music, folks.

So sad to see you pretending to know something about the interwoven tight relationship between styles of music but not acutally having a clue.
@WgCdrLuddite5 ай бұрын
@@djavidianmx1832 I know a great deal about the various musical strands that wove together, even straddling the US racial divide, to produce Rockabilly. Both Western Swing and Bluegrass are part of that great tapestry. But all other 'Country' music is complete shite; utterly commercialised since at least the 40s to play on redneck radio for ad revenue. None of it is remotely related to the genuine article that country people used to play at home.

@@monerz1 No, Buck Owens was a - very good - rhythm guitarist. He started as a studio musician. Johnny Cash is - for sixty years - my favorite singer, I have seen him on stage many times throughout his career and I can say that Chet Atkins, Roy Clark, Campbell and others cannot say that they have been influenced by Cash.
