Thank you, Matteo - I found it a good chassis to build. I don't think they gave us a very appropriate ESC, though.

Hi, Franky - it all works brilliantly with 2 locked diffs; there appears to be no disadvantage at all! I drove it like this and it was good, then I set up the ESC to be more "crawler-friendly" when travelling forwards and changed the tyres, and now it's really absolutely superb!

Been waiting to get this kit. Like for a LONG time. I have also been wanting my first Tamiya kit for even LONGER time. I fell in love with RC cars when I was about 8-9 (?) when I saw my first RC car in my neighborhood, which wasn't electric, but gas powered. It was a Dune VW Buggy ... it was awesome, and it's driver was awesome. He later came out with the "Monster Truck Lunch Box", from Tamiya, which was electric, and I was sold.... it's literally been 30 years, and now I have my first Tamiya kit, and it's a Unimog crawler, which is close enough to the "Lunch Box" I fell in love with to begin with. And I wanted to crawl/trail with the original to begin with anyways. The Unimog will be my "Trail/Hauler Queen" - tugging my Other crawler/Short Course/Rally/Buggy hauler! I can't wait to start it, and Get it running... and your owls in the background were a welcome sound.

Hello! Thanks for posting such a long comment. It's funny that the Lunch Box had such an effect upon "young you" - my first hobby-grade electric RC was a Midnight Pumpkin, which uses the same chassis (it's called the CW-01), and I remember it very fondly.

LOL “still on step one but im agraid we’re already in difficulty” LOL, im glad you found it even though you made your own, ive learned that when tamiya has made a mistake, its likely me LOL…. I enjoyed the view you used to run the truck, i also locked both diffs to start. Great video! I enjoyed building mine and run the hobbywing 1080 crawler esc

Very good work, these tamiya are always fun to ride. The test run is good and now I'm waiting to see the bodywork which in my opinion will be very rusty 😉

Hiya Del - love your videos, dude! Great to hear you chatting as we follow along, informative yet still in your own unique style! You are indeed a rebel, locking both diffs?!?!?! Watch out for the Tamiya Police! Great tip with the leaning shocks, plus the comment about the shaft, a firm grip and lubricant! Oh yeah, the tyres look good, and obviously, from your reaction, smell good. However, they probably won't work well when the going gets tough. Thoroughly enjoyed this one my friend, looking forward to the finished article. Take it easy, mate! 😁✌👍

Hello, Mark! ! Thank you very much for your comment - I did feel delightfully rebellious, disobeying a mighty corporation! In fact, this just isn't a remotely competitive scale crawler, but it is able to give a good account of itself as a trail truck. The shocks; I hope Phil watches this video so he sees what a dutiful student of his techniques takes away from one of his tutorials! I've ordered some more aggressive tyres - it's, a real shame as I'm convinced that the kit tyres would have been up to the job if they'd only been manufactured in a more appropriate compound. Still, as we'll see in the run vid, it's by no means completely devoid of traction!

Duke! Hello! This build was fun. I enjoyed defying Tamiya and building it with both diffs locked. Shame they supplied such hard-compound tyres, but it isn't bad at all off road.

Hi Del, loved watching this CC-02 build. Your video was full of most excellent tips and the finished chassis looks great! Looking forward to seeing what you do with the body. That sunshine looks great against the pouring rain outside while I am watching this video 😂👍🏻🙌🏻

Great work Del. Some really useful detail there. If I'm ever building a CC-02 I'll be back here. Although I've never considered the subject of shock absorbers in the context of an orgy before.
@Del350K42 жыл бұрын
Ha ha! I was a biker in the 1980s, and most of our parties turned into orgies eventually. Ah, great days! No shock absorbers were mistreated in any way! The CC-02 isn't the scale crawler I thought it was. It's a trail truck. The Team Associated CR-12, which has almost identical wheelbase and track, is a far better crawler. Having said that, the Unimog does do very well on the rocks, as will be seen in the upcoming run vid.

Hi Del, what a comprehensive build video this was - a great watch. I think it was a good call to lock both diffs as surely that would give a better performance when crawling. A great tip with the diff oil too, I will keep that one in mind. I'm really looking forward to seeing what you did with the shell, if those weathered and rusted wheels are anything to go by. For me, vehicles of this nature need to look......'well loved' - way more realistic. Lastly, is your cool thumbnail for this vid a painting ? If so it's great....👍🏻😁.
@Del350K42 жыл бұрын
Hello! Yes, the body's more 'weathered' than 'concours', & I knew what colour I was going to paint it when I found myself wondering what to do about a thumbnail. I did my best to draw a Unimog and used a kids' watercolor set to splodge colour around, as I didn't want the thumbnail to be just a photo of the chassis. I was dubious about using it, as the vehicle came out looking a bit too short-wheelbase, but now you've said that you like it, I'm glad that I decided to use it.

Del... that's why I made my second Video on the CC-02, EXPLAINING the Servo mounting options. Mounting the Servo horizontally gives you slightly more Steering... Mounting the Servo vertically, gives you less bump steer, if that concerns you. (It DOES me!) My latest Video, I give a tip for much stronger Propshafts, that costs next to NOTHING. 😉 Nice trick for bleeding Shocks! #MarkBryanRC has the best method!
@Del350K42 жыл бұрын
Ah...so that's why Tamiya allows us to choose whether to mount the steering servo vertically or horizontally. I hope you've locked both diffs?
@CarmineRC2 жыл бұрын
@@Del350K4 Don't need to... I've got a method of making the front Diff as tight as Positraction. Without reducing steering, like locking the front does.
