The thing with youtube channels is many people perceive that people with lots of videos always know what they are talking about. No one knows everything. I watch Del's video's and many other video's too, but I have been a mechanic for 35+ years and at times there are some snippets of advice and methods on video's that are new to me,nobody knows everything... I can see the problem though, when you get a viewer who wants to do X on there bike without any previous mechanical experience and copy a certain method that could harm them, you have to take care here on KZbin and proceed with caution. Really Del should have thought before carrying out the coolant change method on the 'busa and thought also about the audience he is playing too.. We are all here to help each other, Matt pointing out an issue is not really a problem, and is right to highlight the potential dangers..

When a channel claims to produce material to help bike owners, ignores all the warnings given by automotive and materials engineers intended to safeguard against injury during maintenance. Advises viewers to ignore those safeguards, thereby putting his niaive and less aware viewers in danger of seriously hurting themselves, in order to earn some extra patreon money. Decides to remove the video from public view because a spotlight has been shone on a routine that undoubtedly will cause injury to someone at some point in the future. And finally uses the classic dirty politician distraction trick of blaming everyone else around him to avoid making a statement and an admission that on reflection, removing the radiator cap of very hot engine is a very stupid thing to do and goes against every piece of printed guidance. Removing the video and conducting a smear campaign has to be best possible way of losing the final shred of respect most normal level headed people had for him.

If Del did that coolant change vid when he first started youtube & was just in a shed with a crappy cam etc, he would still have had people pull him up over his stupidity, but most would just put it down to his naivety. But in this situation, he's in a nice shiny clean professional looking garage, that will give first-time viewers of his channel the impression that this is the guy to watch, he must know his stuff cos of all that gear he's got there so i'll just follow his tutorial on changing coolant while it's scalding hot. What could possibly go wrong?? As for "abuse", all i've seen in regards to his latest vid were people calling him out for how dangerous it was. I had a neighbor that lived across the street. He had just retired from the army and bought a brand new GMC dully with a huge diesel engine. A week later I come home and he has the hood open standing in front of his truck. He knew I had a degree in Automotive Systems Technology and would always bug me about anything car related. So he calls me over to ask me a question. When I go into his garage he had this hydrogen supplement kit that he was going to install for better fuel economy. I told him that he's wasting his time and that it wouldn't work. The kit came with a electrolysis tank with another tank for hydrogen storage? Immediately I had a bad feeling about it and told him he could use my tools but I was too busy to help him. The next day he was still outside working on the truck. When I walked over, he was installing a discrete solenoid on the hydrogen tube at the intake. Noticing the solenoid did not come with his kit I ask what it was for. He said to let the hydrogen build up faster. He ran and on/off switch to his cabin to control the solenoid. Test drive: After he was done, he drove up and down the road a few times, then he stopped. He yelled to me he was going for it. he held the brake until his turbo started to spool he stomped the gas and hit the button. To this day I still hit engine parts to this day every time mow the lawn. He couldn't feel his legs for a week after it happened. He ended up having to get percussion treatment at the hospital.

I've said it before and I'll say it again between people such as yourself and Craig at doghouse you have saved lives, injury and people's pennies. I decided to build a second bike a few years ago. Nothing special but the aim being to learn some mechanics and have something fun. My issue was KZbin sent me straight to Del and because he had loads of subscribers and good comments I thought he knew enough.......but he didn't. To my shame I spent money on things I shouldn't have and even picked up bad practices which you and a few others have corrected. I have since rebuilt said bike BTW. Keep up the good work credit where it's due and a calling out when it's due

Its sad that Del has to use others as an excuse to hide a video that was obviously dangerous. Passing the blame and not accepting he made a mistake just shows how little he takes his own responsibilities and possibly liabilities, seriously. There is too much passing the blame culture going on at the moment where everyone else is at fault and they have done nothing wrong, but hide what they have done anyway. Either admit you made a mistake or own it and keep it up on the channel. We all make mistakes and its our own moral strength that makes us admit it and either say sorry or correct that mistake. I recently found I had made a mistake with a fuel tank I had made, it was not a dangerous issue, but it needs to be corrected. I took advice from a guy wo has worked on many of those bikes and had been told that I could fill a hole in a plate that is actually clearance for a catch. I did not check with others and do more research myself so I have to admit its my fault. So I now have to make a change and fix that issue on the customers fuel tank for free after I make the changes and make up a new section to bond into place. My fuck up so my problem to deal with and not tell the customer he is wrong and he needs to "do what others do" when he wants to keep a standard part on his bike even though others have removed it due to it being a weak link. I have to work with the widest range of options but most of all I need to work with the original equipment being used where possible and if there is a change I need to let customers know or supply the parts to make those changes. The RG500 tank used an Aprilia cap because I cannot make it work with an original fuel cap, so I supply one and its associated parts. The fuel tank catch issue needs to be resolved OR I need to give the customer the parts he needs to make it work... I can't just blame others for my fuck up... Del needs to accept his failures and admit to them or if not he needs to be held liable for any injury or worse that someone suffers from the mistakes he makes in his "Tutorial".

I'm in the states. What a lot of ppl here disagree with Delboys on ( because I state what Delboys said re oil changes on Harleys in his video) is when he says drain the oil when it's cold. Harley manual states to drain when hot. Even the Harley techs say to drain when hot. It's a dry sump system. If your just checking the level, check when cold, ride it ( not idling) for 30 minutes and check again. By filling it cold n then riding it n checking again, you may have overfilled. Delboys needs to stay what the manual says. I like his videos because they are detailed. He seems to be in the only one showing how to purge the oil system and the proper oil level in the primary. The Harley videos here just assume you know n feel putting a quart in the primary brings you to the bottom of the clutch basket without showing the viewers. When I tell them about it, they get a little upset .

Hi Matt, maybe Del needs to understand that many of his subscribers like me only, became his subscribers because I watched your videos about his channels first. I’ve only commented on his channel a few times and nothing that could be seen as abuse. Like many of the comments I’ve read in his comments, just people saying what they think. As for the way you deliver your channel, is it the way I would do it ? No, is what you do it offensive No, not to me if you find it offensive then you have a choice not to watch it.
