Love the way you held the nut in place on the battery, many thanks for sharing

Most welcome Ian, it's actually to lift it up so that the screw can reach it, because you know what it's like, when you stack a couple of tabs on the terminal, sometimes the screw won't reach down to the nut !

Awesome looking bike. Cool little trick putting some tube on the battery terminals to aid fitting! Great video.

Thanks buddy, the tube just lifts the nuts up a little higher for when you stack a few tabs up for battery tenders and heated grips etc., and the screws become too short to reach the nuts! Glad it helped, all the best...

It's nice that the master cyls. and levers were on their own on the bars. So much easier than say Harley where the whole unit is mated to the with the switch housing on the bars like a puzzle. Great look now without those "Pots". Really cleans the lines of the bars up. Great vid, thanks.

You're right mate, Harley do like to make things complicated on what are probably the simplest bikes in the world! But then they have quite smart reservoir pots as standard, so you wouldn't need to change them aye?! Glad you enjoyed, getting nearer, next video online Friday night!!

Love your videos, it might just be me with OCD but your brake banjos would look better on an angle where they are bolted to the master cylinder just like the banjo coming off the clutch master cylinder so it goes behind the front fairing a lot higher.
@Moonfleet41
@Moonfleet41 5 жыл бұрын
Hi Mark, that would restrict the amount of travel I have in the forks as the clutch side goes directly inside the forks and then down in to the fork tube off to the clutch, whereas the brakes go down under the bottom yoke to the calipers, so whilst you're right, it might look a little better, that would then put an unnecessary bend in the hoses and shorten their available reach... but I did consider it, as like you, I like things tidy!

So the rubber hose under the battery nuts was to bring them up higher because the extra ring terminals shortened the reach of the battery lead bolts. Nice! I will have to remember that, had the same problem, but bought longer bolts instead.
@Moonfleet41
@Moonfleet41 5 жыл бұрын
Exactly that in every way mate, I've seen people use folded up bits of card, but they just get soggy! The loinger screws are ok, as long as if you reduce the amount of tabs you change the screw back to a shorter one so it doesn't hit the bottom and hit the battery terminal!

Great video. I'm nowhere close to rebuilding a bike but I do like the coffin reservoirs more than the plastic tub I have on my zx6-r. I do have a question though, as I have bolt on handlebars does it make a difference in being able to fit a different reservoir and the comment you made about having twin discs and 2 reservoirs, I only have one but do have twin discs. Is there something I'm missing here? Best wishes to Penny and yourself.:)
@Moonfleet41
@Moonfleet41 5 жыл бұрын
Hi Patricia, these reservoirs would work for you as long as your bars would hold them in a flat position, doesn't have to be exactly flat, but somewhere close would be favourable and what I said about the brake reservoir was tat it is a reservoir/master cylinder rated for twin discs... you only have one master cylinder to feed two discs, it's just a little bigger internally than a single disc rated master cylinder... if what you have in mind is changing to these, and you have twin discs, then just get the twin disc master cylinder, as I've listed in the link in the description under the video... great to hear from you, keep well and keep in touch, all the very best, D&Px

lithium battery is lighter but my experience is they are not good for cold weather riders or storage / non-maintenance type people will have issues they always need a maintenance charge. love ya take care and God bless. Oh yeah that cycle is looking spot on
@Moonfleet41
@Moonfleet41 5 жыл бұрын
Thanks buddy, yeah I have a couple of complaints on the litium battery, it does drain over time, even when not plugged in to anything, the worst thing of all is when the battery drains down to 50%, just like your power tools, it stops dead and won't even fire the ignition, let alone turn the bike over, I don't know if it's a protection mode or what, but a regular battery slows down as it drains, giving you a warning to charge it, or check it, but lithium batteries will spin the bike over at full speed, like they are perfectly healthy, then they fall a fraction below 50% and they stop dead with no warning, just like a drill! So the bike will have to live on an optimiser... still may change it for a Motobatt yet, not sure !!

bars lovely and neat, front cowl looks very well too! I'd swap out the screws in the reservoirs or anti sieze them at least, I've had to drill out so many sets it's not even funny, ones that have only ever seen JIS drivers and had all the care in the world.
@Moonfleet41
@Moonfleet41 5 жыл бұрын
Yeah, ive swapped them for stainless ones in the past and they rattle loose.. so yep, the best solution ive found is to dab a spot of anti seize on them.. works for me.. but i dont promote it because all the short attention span brigade deride it..!

Good job, i share your disliking of the plastic pot reservoirs. New Kwak Z900 RS, in my opinion the best looking new bike on the market, let down by those bloody horrible things. Front end looks great.
@Moonfleet41
@Moonfleet41 5 жыл бұрын
Yes, I noticed that, and what a shame, but then the whole story of the 900RS has been a devastating disappointment... when I picked up an email from Kawasaki about 18 months ago with some pictures of the concept bike, I was damn well ready to lay my money down there and then... they had spoke wheels with a 6" rear rim 200 section trye, 2" longer than the bike is now, 4 pipes (2 either side), fat upside down forks and the tank was a 60/40 proportion to the seat unit, rather than 50/50 as it is... it looked like brutal msucle, not only that, they originally pitched it with a big old air cooled motor that looked like a Zephyr 11 engine and a radiator that showed it was still water cooled... I simply wanted one, no matter what it took to get one, it wasn't possible to put deposits down based on the concept, nobody was prepared to take my money and guarantee me anything... But when the bike turned up, oh what a disappointment! At a squint, it looks more like a Zephyr 550, the exhaust makes it look impotent, and it just doesn't seem to be any of the 'theatre' that such a mighty icon should have come back with... but it's a capable bike I guess, and ok, retro lookey-likey, and based on a ZX10, it's gonna be a hoot to ride, but what a shame that Kawasaki missed a chance to create an icon... Look what Yamaha did with the V-Max 1700, they took an icon and put it on steroids and made it an outrageous bike that everyone wants to have a play on! But will a Z900RS ever do that, sadly not... and what I fear most is that they'll never hold their money... I've seen GSX1400's for sale recently at £1500 and, sadly, the £10k 900RS will go the same way... which is a real shame for those who have laid out their hard earned money for one.... you're right too on the piss pots, they even have the cast master cylinders available on other bikes they could have used... but who knows what goes on in the heads of motorcycle designers... Take it easy buddy, thanks for your feedback!

@@hartley383 Aha, the venerable XJR, I have to admit, they are probably the prettiest muscle bike on the road... I do miss the turbo, but it served a purpose and it was great fun to ride... I felt a bit like you when I had a CB1300, in fact I had two of them I liked them that much, did the usual thing of sell it, then regret it, so went out and bought another one, then still sold that! ...take care buddy, and have a great weekend!
