The triumph emblem in gold on black would finish that off nicely. My partner is a nail tech and the uv curing gel polishes are amazing for that type of detail, easy to work with as well 👍🏻

My 2005 Triumph has metal badges with 2 stainless screws holding it on, and a rubber gasket. Triumph has been cheaping out more and more with each passing year. They might think nobody is noticing, but I'm noticing.

Much better! The only thing I would do differently would be to mask out the raised edges of the lettering, to give a similar effect as the black/silver on the head cooling fins. Would be a massive ballache to mask up mind you! Out of interest Del, what air compressor is that?
@Moonfleet41
@Moonfleet41 5 жыл бұрын
The main issue with doing that to a textured badge is that it will look really tatty and amateur unless its 100% flawless.. and will also be very prone to chip on the raw edge...so even if you get it flawless.. it's not gonna stay that way for long...

You've probably thought about this already and probably cliche but you know that reg/rec cover you made, which is really smart, what jumped out at me is an oval edged circle for a race number so you can change the look of the bike, have different body kits depending on your mood. Just a thought but probably already been said. Anyway take care, Jim x

Black and chrome, can't go wrong with that as long as there is a good tasteful balance between the two - not too much chrome, not too much black. Nothing worse than chromed out and/or all blacked out. For my money, the stock look reigns. But as you said, that's not what the customer wants. Did she consider 'hot pink' badges? (rhetorical question). BTW, excellent work on the badges.

@@Moonfleet41 Funny you should say that actually as I did a quick paint over the "denim" on my dyna just to get it through the winter here and yeah then went and spilled fuel and well needless to say its a bit of a mess now so once I've got myself settled in my new place that's on top of the list , the front and rear fenders held up alright guess I learned something. Mmm have to go through and find the video's you did on brakes too but that's another story laughs replaced the front wheel ya see anyway hopefully at this point you two are out for a day and relaxing .....I'm not sure if it's riding weather over there at the moment I've heard story's about Britain like maybe it's snow at the minute laughs.

Merry Christmas to you and Penny pit stop you didn't get rid of the pinstripe in that you had done to it did you.I was trying to see but I didn't I couldn't see and I didn't see the front fender that Good. that was a very nice-looking artwork you had done to it. I like to change the badge look on my Sportster but in 91 they use vinyl like lettering and a vinyl like sun thing with a number 5 on it and I'd like to change it one day.I like to get like another set of 2001 badges that had on my 1200 they were pretty cool-looking they were plastic chrome looking metal ones and I liked them better than the vinyl lettering I've got now. Again have a great Christmas and a Happy New year.

Hi Adrian, Thanks mate.. the filler cap came from TEC Bike Parts, and the screen was a random item second hand from eBay, not sure if the brand.. (i think it was from a Harley).

Hi Mike.. I am always thinking ahead to the next potential project, and you;re right, the big Dragstars make a wonderful donor bike for all sorts of changes.. so who knows, once the Hayabusa is finished, i will want a total change of scene, so you never know, it all hangs on what's available and how affordable it is.. have a wonderful Christmas mate, take care and keep in touch, all the very best to you and Jan, have a relaxing holiday break... Have you test ridden either of the new water cooled Bonnevilles? If you have, what's your opinion of them?
@Moonfleet41

I haven't Marc, don;t get out much these days, certainly not to test ride bikes.. next year i intend to spend a bit more time out and about..

Me too. Believe it or not, the new oil/air cooled Royal Enfield 650s appeal to me more than the latest Bonnevilles. Bargain pricing might have something to do with it. A generous three year warranty with roadside assistance doesn't hurt. To 60 and quarter mile performance data aren't available yet but I expect respectable times. In my humble opinion, the 48 hp 650 engine is prettier than my 2010 SE's 865. Other nice features include beautiful exhaust pipes and silencers, anti-lock brakes, progressive shocks and springs, fuel gauge, and tachometer.

@@marcswanson7066 Damn Marc, do you work for Enfield ?.. lol.. Seriously mate, i get all that you say.. i think over the last 19 years Triumph have in some ways allowed the simple and humble concept of the basic Bonneville platform to drift and get a little too "evolved" a little too fast.. they're now a shadow of their former self, and getting more like a regular road bike with a tiny bit of old school styling.. where as the Enfield is right back to basics and back where Triumph came in with the first Bonneville remake back on '09.. proving that maybe people actually like the humble quaint old school bike with all its uncomplicated charm and humble performance.. rather then "Rider modes" and "lean angle ABS' etc.... one thing that is impressive is the power of the Enfield for a 650.. 44bhp, and Triumph only managed 53 from a motor 200cc bigger .(but there's me comparing power like it matters in a bike like this).. I think the Enfield will prompt Triumph to rethink their take on "Retro" maybe, if not, then they'll wrest the market from them in less than 2 years and be number one in that genre..(if they're not already.! cheers mate, and happy new year.. Del.

A few years ago, before I had ever heard of the RE 650, I suggested in a Truimph Rat post called "My Ideal Bonneville" that they produce a lighter lower priced kick-start 650 model to supplement but, of course, not replace their current Bonneville line. I mentioned using an aluminum frame. Substantial weight reduction would translate into better handling, performance, and gas mileage each and every day without the need for expensive mods. It wasn't a stretch to assume that women, beginners, and even a few die-hard ex oil-in the-frame owners like myself would flock to the offering. The suggestion fell on deaf ears and they promptly sped off in the opposite direction. Whatever in the world made them think that changing the Triumph image from lean, mean, and bad boy to luxury and upscale was the way to go?
@Moonfleet41
@Moonfleet41 5 жыл бұрын
@@marcswanson7066 I'd buy one of those for sure.. it's estimated that 50kg + 50bhp on real terms, imagine how much fin a kick start 650 twin would be that weighs 130kg, and actually handles.. it'd be like riding a 350LC..(if yer old enough to have done that as a teenager..>:))))

Why not fit some to this Triumph...just to confuse people ?!
