I don't know if I read the book before or after I saw The Last Man on Earth, probably after as that was a Vincent Price movie I caught on the Saturday Afternoon matinee on TV. But the book is part of why I did not care for Omega Man, even with Anthony Zerbe and Charlton Heston in it. The lead realizing that the survivors of the plague are still human, just different, was an incredible revelation. Wish the one with Will Smith had left the recognition in. I might pay to see the movie. The final scene of The Thing is actually the way the original story ends. Essentially: Who Goes There? Completely ambiguous.
