I would argue the deleted scenes in ROTS being made into an extended cut would be more impactful than the extended of the LOTR trilogy story wise. Pacing would be drastically improved, scenes they left in that didn’t really make sense would suddenly make all the cents. The timeline would be easier to follow and maybe most importantly Anakin would make alot more sense. Im just messing with creation at this point but it would have been really nice to see Anakin and Obi wan in battles on separate planets to recall them to Coruscant. Showing us while still good friend and brothers, the war has ripped them apart and put distance between them both physically and metaphorically. It would also make the transition to Anakins different look make more sense, as well as the scar. Anakin has been fighting a war mostly on his own with his clones, his way, to great success and is a hero of the republic at this point. That should have really been hammered into our heads, not alluded to.

I wouldn't necessarily agree. I think the deleted scenes in a lot of the OT also enhanced those movies, just like PT. Yes we did and in the end it ended up being a mistake from Palpatine. He thought the Death Star would be more than enough to keep everyone in line with fear and terror. But thanks to the Force and Luke that thing was destroyed and the rebellion showed there's still a chance to end the sith tyranny. We see the rebellion grow in the material that takes place between the original trilogy movies and become very relevant and even 'threatening' to the Empire and to Palpatine. Threatening enough for him to form that plan that takes place in The Return Of The Jedi where he lures all the important rebel alliance members into one place by making himself look 'vulnerable'.

This was what made Andor so awesome, and certainly the best Star Wars has ever been on TV. You had on the one hand Mon Mothma politicking and making out she's putting it all on the line over who goes to which dinner party and getting worried over how she's channelling money - on the other hand you have Luthen Rael giving this whole overview over the true nature of Rebellion. How its not just a bunch of guys doing space battles - how its really dirty and he's getting his hands really dirty doing whatever it takes. And then on the ground you had Andor and his heist mission where one TIE fighter was an existential threat.
@cquba2 ай бұрын
I think it's simpler than that - Andor, unlike every other Disney Star Wars property before it, was willing and eager to engage in the politics behind the Star Wars themselves. It was willing to engage in what made Star Wars feel *real*. And behold, it uplifted the production entirely, even if it comes across as too preachy for its own good.
@garrym56822 ай бұрын
@ I don’t disagree. Andor is the only Star Wars to do politics - but also the only one to properly examine the reality of the Empire. My favourite arc in the show was Dedra and Syril showing the what it was like to work in the empire. The other shows have either got things wrong or lost their way. Mandolor started as a western and turned into a full time Easter Egg hunt. Boba Fett appears to have had no idea what story it was trying to tell. Ahsoka was just a total clown show with the title character becoming an extra in her own show so they could make Sabine Wren happen no matter what

This is how Caesar Augustus dismantled the Roman Republic
@KaiCrossАй бұрын
Ehhhhh idk about that
@rorschach1985ify8 күн бұрын
Not really. Caesar only did what previous dictators like Sulla started but he was honestly way too kind in forgiving his enemies hence why he ended up being killed. Agustus is more like Palpatine and he was specifically in retaliation to the corrupt senate who had shown itself to be too eager to kill anyone they did not like, The Gracchi brothers showed this almost a century before Caesar's own death. Agustus essentially followed Caesar but just dumped most of the mercy and gave the senators who disliked him what they feared Caesar would be but never was.

It’s very interesting how Lucas used historical references/inspiration in his stories. Palpatine used his govt enforcers behind the scenes for influence and created wars to enable the building of the republic army. Reminds me of the Ukraine situation. Covid was also a way for certain states/cities to enact insane controls over people, which we now know was paid for and researched by our own govt. The governors in Star Wars were also later installed by palpatine. The people didn’t get to vote for those positions. Always interesting to see how real life is injected into science fiction.

What is really interesting is that in The Mandalorian we are greeted with the notion that maybe The Rebellion are not the good guys after all. This reflects life all too well. So many people out there think they are fighting the good fight against what they hate, little knowing that they are manipulated into fighting FOR what they despise. Those at the top always have very sinister ways with powerful tools to keep hold of power, and know exactly how to play the masses.

That is simply not the case. It’s as plain as knowing whats right and whats wrong, whats good and whats bad “for the people”. After 9/11, as George Bush (Jr.) government started to come up with ways of sacrificing freedom in the name of security, then orchestrated the invasion of Iraq with no justification, mass protests broke out all over. He gave his famous anti-democracy speech "if you are not with us, you are against us" while this movie was in production. The whole movie theater broke out laughing when Anakin made a throwback to that line, and ObiWan basically called the US president a sith lord.

1:31 that idea makes little sense. That is like saying that if one general dies then the whole thing is over. That’s not how it happens. Another will rise to take his place. It is up to the side that lost that leader to determine whether or not to continue a fight. You carry on a war until there is decisive victory or failure.
@AManNamedHawk2 ай бұрын
You are correct, but you can’t deny the blow to the war effort that Austrian painter’s assassination would have had (as an example). Or Mao or Genghis Khan. When the ones fighting are doing so based on the faith in their leader, taking out a key figure can break their back because it can cause a power vacuum and civil war. In Star Wars, killing the Chancellor would have demonized the Jedi for some time but they would have ultimately been able to consolidate that power as the peacekeeping force while a new Chancellor is elected.
@maciejpietrzak61462 ай бұрын
Not on that case. After Count Dooku's death, the Separatists were already over. Senators wanted to negotiate terms of peace, yet Palpatine declared that this War willbe over after the destruction od Grievous. So, after that Palpatine would be forces to give up his emergency powers, and that could be over for him. He possibly wouldnt be able to execute order 66, as he woudnt be a highest commander of the Clone Army.
