I would argue the deleted scenes in ROTS being made into an extended cut would be more impactful than the extended of the LOTR trilogy story wise. Pacing would be drastically improved, scenes they left in that didn’t really make sense would suddenly make all the cents. The timeline would be easier to follow and maybe most importantly Anakin would make alot more sense. Im just messing with creation at this point but it would have been really nice to see Anakin and Obi wan in battles on separate planets to recall them to Coruscant. Showing us while still good friend and brothers, the war has ripped them apart and put distance between them both physically and metaphorically. It would also make the transition to Anakins different look make more sense, as well as the scar. Anakin has been fighting a war mostly on his own with his clones, his way, to great success and is a hero of the republic at this point. That should have really been hammered into our heads, not alluded to.

Yes we did and in the end it ended up being a mistake from Palpatine. He thought the Death Star would be more than enough to keep everyone in line with fear and terror. But thanks to the Force and Luke that thing was destroyed and the rebellion showed there's still a chance to end the sith tyranny. We see the rebellion grow in the material that takes place between the original trilogy movies and become very relevant and even 'threatening' to the Empire and to Palpatine. Threatening enough for him to form that plan that takes place in The Return Of The Jedi where he lures all the important rebel alliance members into one place by making himself look 'vulnerable'.

This was what made Andor so awesome, and certainly the best Star Wars has ever been on TV. You had on the one hand Mon Mothma politicking and making out she's putting it all on the line over who goes to which dinner party and getting worried over how she's channelling money - on the other hand you have Luthen Rael giving this whole overview over the true nature of Rebellion. How its not just a bunch of guys doing space battles - how its really dirty and he's getting his hands really dirty doing whatever it takes. And then on the ground you had Andor and his heist mission where one TIE fighter was an existential threat.
@cquba24 күн бұрын
I think it's simpler than that - Andor, unlike every other Disney Star Wars property before it, was willing and eager to engage in the politics behind the Star Wars themselves. It was willing to engage in what made Star Wars feel *real*. And behold, it uplifted the production entirely, even if it comes across as too preachy for its own good.
@garrym568224 күн бұрын
@ I don’t disagree. Andor is the only Star Wars to do politics - but also the only one to properly examine the reality of the Empire. My favourite arc in the show was Dedra and Syril showing the what it was like to work in the empire. The other shows have either got things wrong or lost their way. Mandolor started as a western and turned into a full time Easter Egg hunt. Boba Fett appears to have had no idea what story it was trying to tell. Ahsoka was just a total clown show with the title character becoming an extra in her own show so they could make Sabine Wren happen no matter what

One of the problems with the prequels is the whole force language starts to sound idiotic. Any fool can see that the chancellor is moving to consolidate power. It doesn’t take Jedi clairvoyance to see that and yet the Jedi are blind or inept or both throughout their chess match with Palpatine. That includes Yoda.

This movie is actually full of political statements that fit it's time. After 9/11, as George Bush (Jr.) government started to come up with ways of sacrificing freedom in the name of security, then orchestrated the invasion of Iraq with no justification, mass protests broke out all over. He gave his famous anti-democracy speech "if you are not with us, you are against us" while this movie was in production. The whole movie theater broke out laughing when Anakin made a throwback to that line, and ObiWan basically called the US president a sith lord.

It’s very interesting how Lucas used historical references/inspiration in his stories. Palpatine used his govt enforcers behind the scenes for influence and created wars to enable the building of the republic army. Reminds me of the Ukraine situation. Covid was also a way for certain states/cities to enact insane controls over people, which we now know was paid for and researched by our own govt. The governors in Star Wars were also later installed by palpatine. The people didn’t get to vote for those positions. Always interesting to see how real life is injected into science fiction.

This is why I‘ve always loved the prequels- they show how dictators rise to power (minus the force). Use an existing crisis or create one, then promise to solve it, get military support -> seize political power. Look at Julius Caesar, Napoleon, Hitler- they used the same pattern.

First step toward this in reality is the Supreme Court Verdict made earlier this year. All presidents past, present, and future have "Absolute Immunity to Official Acts, Assumed immunity to Other acts 🥴, and No Immunity To Unofficial Acts. One may take comfort in the unofficial acts. So much comfort that they not use natural assumption toward what they think an unofficial act is instead of looking further into to see what the Supreme Court considers an Unofficial Act. The reality is that defined absolutely nothing as an unofficial act and said that responsiblity isn't theirs

The controversy with the Sector Governors,later Moffs,was the fact that they had direct control/authority over the systems they administered, unlike the Senate who left authority to the local systems. The Sector Governors were the 1st step in the eventual replacement of the Senate as Palpatine still needed the bureaucracy of the Senate. The reason why Palpatine was able to seemingly rewrite the Republic constitution at will was because he had a supermajority in the Senate,which allowed him to pass any type of legislation he wished without much opposition

@@youarepredictable And just like Palpatine used the system to destroy the system, so will the democrats use the constitution to destroy it... cos when Trump wins the election, they will use the 14th amendment to refuse to ratify his win - the reason why they have been pushing the Jan 6th narrative is that the 14th amendment says that no person who has taken part in an insurrection can take any office in the US, including the Presidency. Of course there was no charges, convictions or anything official... but the MSM is the kangaroo court they are using... and when civil war breaks out like the separatists rebel, then the powers that be - like Palpatine will call for emergency powers, declare martial law, and enforce the stormtroopers to his bidding...
