I used to make it often but lost my recipe and perhaps will try your way. Apples should be cut triangle to give texture after cooking.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I find the preferred shape to cut apples is a personal preference. I am also influenced by the apples. Some varieties cook down while others hold their structure.
