Jessie, I am so glad that you are alright! The fact that summer is now synonymous with "fire season" here in CA is real and quite unfortunate. It is crazy how much the climate has changed since I was a kid!

I just want to hang out with you and your family one full day and spend it foraging and cooking. I am a forager deep in my soul and never had the opportunity to experience such a beautiful adventure. So, instead I watch you and your family and I am always excited about what you all find. Keep up the good foraging. 😊😊😊

I am a fan too! They are great in a Cesar salad or to enhance the flavor of the sauce in a clam linguini! That said, the fresh ones were way more subtle in flavor. It was really interesting.

Dr. Kevin, congratulations! You might remember me, our paths crossed a few times doing field work. Anyway, really dig your channel! I’m retired now up on the North Coast. If you and Martijn (and /or other crew) are near Fort Bragg stop and be friendly! I have a little floor space or 3 acres to camp on in the redwoods. Backs up to Jackson St. Forest. Lots of mushrooms! Take care, Sean.

I am putting together my website this week. I will start in the next few weeks and will lead regular guided shellfish foraging tours, poke poling eels, mushroom hunts, wild berry foraging... and yes, spearfishing and other freediving-acquired seafood, in addition to survival skills, bushcraft (bow and arrow making, stone tool making, friction fire, etc.). If you are located in the Bay Area or near by, please stay tuned!

You would likely have a bit of skin an tendon still holding it together, but they are adapted to go right through mussel shell and clam shell, so going through a human phalanx would be nothing for them.
