So, fun fact regarding orcs, kobolds, and other fantasy staples in Japanese media... A lot of classic fantasy media in Japan was inspired by the game Wizardry, which has had the effect of giving Japanese fantasy anime and games a distinct flavor from Western fantasy. For example, orcs are generally depicted as being based on pigs, kobolds on dogs, etc.

I remember playing Wizardry in high school. The quest to defeat Werdna

Funny thing, the Japanese Kobolds adhere to their original description in Dungeons & Dragons, which has been changed since then. We are talking about first edition or so. Just as the Gnolls were the at first Gnoles and looked differently.

The little Orcs & they're juvenile patterns like wild piglets.❤

Yeah, Japanese interpretations of Kobalds after the original D&D manual emphasized the canine traits while American interpretations went a more reptilian direction. It's a fascinating outcome, almost like the difference between eastern & western dragons. You should look up a video about it, as it might give you DM ideas.

Food generally has two large connotations; the first - as you saw in this episode - is community. It brings people together and can help reach a point of mutual understanding; no matter how different any two people are, we all have to eat, it’s something we have in common. The second, I’ll make mention of later.

First, I was so intrigued by your first reaction to this show that I ended up binging it. My fellow wizard, It only gets better moving forward. Both narrative wise and food dishes. Second, Senshi is the kind of character that I always wanted to aspire to in a d&d campaign. I would like to be a wizard but instead of casting practical magic, My real power is in cooking. Third, The use of the golems as a vegetable patch is ingenious as you can Gain good supply of food in the dungeon itself.

When reading the manga free online the golem chapter is what made decide fo go and fully buy the volumes. I’m a huge Druid player since dnd 3.5e. When I got the Eberron campaign setting book there is a race called Warforged which are sentient golems that became on their own after a war in that world. Their bodies are made of metal and Druid rules is no metal worn but warforged had unique feats to customize their chassis, limbs and special runes which includes ironwood (wood as strong as iron) body to become druids. So I was able to make a druid warforged with ironwood body with his origins is after the war he was left for dead in the woods but druids found him, restore his core and created a wooden body for him. Oh and his animal companion is a squirrel which it made a home inside his wooden body.

Love the orc designs in Delicious in Dungeon, the green waagh tusked orcs are a bit overdone, glad to see Ryoko Kui getting into the classic designs with a hint of pig in the designs.

It also serves a special purpose, which the Manga readers would know :D It'll come up in season 2!

Per usual your attention to detail makes your analysis' very enjoyable to listen to. There's so much racial clash within this show, yes it's typical for there to be orc conflict, but there's much more between even the races of the main team, so much delicious worldbuilding to come

So, fun fact about Chilchuck, but the reason he seems so salty and just grumpy is because even though he looks like a child, for his race he's basically a middle-aged man, so he's very Danny Glover "I'm too old for this ish" because he's basically in his 40s.

I enjoyed watching the show the first time but watching again along with you is just hilarious! Senshi is also my fave character. Marceille annoyed me so much at first LOL! Love your reaction!

Orcs that are Green and have tusks. Honestly, it was a 50/50 split between Warhammer 40K and Warcraft. Fun fact: this entire season is only half of the manga.
@dungeonmaster16Ай бұрын
Hm… half is a stretch. I need go double check as I get home but s1 end around vol.9 out of 14 volumes. If don’t include the side chapters (which im sad they won’t adapt) then I can kinda see it.
@thegrumple5862Ай бұрын
@@dungeonmaster16 the season stops at chapter 52, there's 97 chapters. that's pretty close to half
