As someone who has anemia, I was excited to see this video. But you should know that just about 2% of iron from spinach can be absorbed by the body. I had to rely on an expert biologist/nutritionist to help me overcome severe anemia, and one of the first things she told me is that spinach is useless. Also, iron requires to be eaten away from calcium-rich foods, and to be eaten together with tons of Vitamin C, plus the B group. It's very tricky, iron is difficult to absorb, that's why even meat eaters can easily be low in iron.

Your anemic bc your thinking too hard. If you never knew any of this stuff, would you still be anemic? Anemic pple know all the crap doctors tell them about anemia, and yet they still anemic lololololol. Let her have her own video without your analysis

Yep, I find it hard to absorb iron too. There are so many things that get in the way of iron absorption that it can be a minefield trying to get enough iron. So now I take an iron supplement with vitamin C and B vitamins first thing in the morning, then I can eat normally the rest of the day and not worry about the iron!

@@cherusiderea1330 another thing my nutritionist told me it's to eat iron rich foods or supplements away from caffeine rich foods and calcium rich foods or supplements. Iron really is very tricky to absorb and experts estimate that 30% of human population is iron deficient. Even my brother who eats tons of meat and other people I know that rest meat have iron deficiency normally. But I feel much better now, thanks mostly to good quality German supplements, eating fish once or twice a week after being 99.9% vegetarian/vegan for 25+ years, and integrating other iron rich foods.. but again, vegetarian sources are not the best.

Miwa, I only have one can of tuna in the pantry today and want to save it for the Hijiki salad. So I just made the creamy vegetable soup with mushrooms and miso instead this time. So yummy ! I receive your newsletter and viewed your new tableware collection. Such beautiful and unique pieces, it is hard to decide which ones to start with🥰 !

Miwa it's been a while! I was coincidentally thinking about you today, as I was considering if I should make your cold tomato pasta salad this weekend, it's been so hot lately. It's funny how these things happen sometimes.

I remember them checking my iron in my pregnancy; luckily that was one of the only things that was good during my pregnancy, together with my sugar levels. Still eating these kind of foods is still a good idea. I love the spinach daikon salad. In winter I dry daikon myself so I always have it on hand. Hijiki is sometimes available here in the Netherlands you have to order it online though. I never eat it much as Hijiki is very high in iodine and I have to watch my intake of that. But my mother loves simmered hijiki with soy beans. Don't worry about your house, with children around a house is often a mess. I know mine is.

Whats the difference between hijiki and wakame seaweed?
@MiwasJapaneseCooking3 ай бұрын
Both are types of seaweed. Hijiki has a stronger seaweed smell than wakame and is also rich in iron. The texture and appearance are slightly different as well.
