Over 60 years ago family used to have corn boils out at Rainbow Haven. What an interesting video it would be to see where Sydney Crosby grew up as that was a very depressed area back in the day. Yet I hear it has all gone very trendy and upscale. Goodness that's a huge switch if so. Eastern Passage used to be one blink and you missed it! Another cute town (village) that's close to Lunenburg and Mahone Bay is Chester. It's known for looking a lot like New England. There's also a world renowned sailboat race that happens there every summer called RaceWeek. People from out of country come to participate! If you like to golf there's a nice course across the water from Lunenburg which gives you a perfect view of the town (literally every picture of Lunenburg you've seen). Lot's of amazing restaurants there, but if you want something affordable AND delicious try The Knot. A charming little pub with a unique interior. It's a local favorite.

In Nova Scotia the latitude may not determine the weather. Cape Sable and Barrington and also Sable Island though the later no one goes or is miles out are far south for the province yet freezing cold. Sydney Cape Breton has far higher daily high temperatures in spring and summer as well as Cheticamp and Ingonish. Yet northern Nova Scotia is changeable and can get frost later at night while giving warm days. Yarmouth though not that cold and milder on average does not get as hot as the hottest days in Cape Breton will regardless to the averages even in March April and May -yet Cape Breton gets the odd March or April fluke snowfall that affects the averages and it can drop at night yet on warm days it climbs above coastal areas much further south. I can tell you that as I live in Nova Scotia and see what the weather does on the internet in different places over many years now.

Beaches along the Northumberland Straight are the best! Ties in to Tatamagouche as well as Pictou being great little towns around cottage country to visit and pick up a lot of the necessities. I grew up between the two towns and summers were the best at the beach ☀️

@@DelightfulTravellers The two most well known would be Rushton's near Tatamagouche and Waterside closer to Pictou. Two smaller ones that the locals and cottagers use would be MacDonald's Cove by Seafoam Campground (also near the Lavender Farm) and the beach at the Toney River wharf.

I grew up in the Annapolis Valley (former Apple Blossom Princess here!), I left for the West many many moons ago but never stopped missing the ocean. I bought a little house on the South shore in 2020 but haven’t been able to see it in person because of the shutdown. Hoping, hoping, hoping that I can come see it in August. 🤞 FYI: My favourite beach was Rissers Beach. 🏖 🌊

We so hope you can make it here and especially to your house. You should be able to by then and maybe even July with the reopening plan in place 🤞 - Anna
