Delike New Moon 2 Unboxing and First Impressions

Hi Garry. Congratulations on passing your 550 target. I have a few Delike pens but not this one. That Dark Rose is gorgeous but my only concern is the small size of the pen. I think an ink like 'Black Swan in English Roses' would be another good match.

Thank you. It's nice to see the channel grow. The size was one of my concerns but once posted its a really nice size. I have the Black Swan inks on my list to buy but have been getting a bit hooked on Diamine inks at the moment.

I love the Dark Rose colour. I haven't got a Delike, but I bought a Moonman M100 in this colour. I didn't hide it from my wife but I gave it to her when I saw how much she liked it and got some good husband points. :) She uses a purple Parker Quink ink with it. TWSBI have got a limited edition called Draco in this colour.

My wife likes the Moonman M800 in Purple - so tends not to be bothered by other pens too much, although I have so many lying around that she could take one and I'd hardly notice. That's one of the dangers of pens from China being so cheap - I end up with multiples of each!. My Draco arrived last week. I am working on a first impressions video for it at the moment, and I do bring this pen into that for a quick visual comparison. The video should be out in the next couple of weeks.

I got the blue marble one in the EF bent nib. It works well unposted for me and that particular nib is smooth and somewhat interesting. A good, nice-looking and economical pen, though I'm not sure I would buy it again.

I'm looking to get some more of these in the future, just not a present. I would like to try the bent nib as I am exploring how different nibs affect my handwriting at the moment.

Another nice review, Garry. I like the rhythm and the conciseness of you reviews. My wife and I usually have different preferences in pens, but every now and then a pen appeals to both of us, a dangerous situation.

I have this pen and 3 other colours of the model as well. They can also come with a bent nib choice which is an interesting alternative. I usually ink my Dark Rose pen with Diamine Syrah. Thanks for the review Garry.

The Syrah arrived after I'd inked this pen, but I like the suggestion and will use this when I next fill it. I am hoping to get some of the other colours later - have such a long list of pens to buy, the hardest part is getting my wife permission to buy them.

Definitely enjoy these pen video reviews Gary. I noticed you enjoy the Hongdian pens, wich I really like and have a couple myself. Would you consider reviewing the Hongdian 6016 fountain pen or the Monteverde Regatta abalone fountain pen. Thanks!

Thank you. I have just added both of those pens to my To Buy list. Unfortunately that list is growing quite quickly at the moment so it may be a while before I can get them.

I read the Chinese like finer nibs due to drawing the Chinese characters. So it makes sense for pens planned for the Chinese market.

Nice pen. I can see the comparisons with the other pens you mentioned. To me, though, it immediately seemed 'inspired by' the TWSBI Draco. My cash flow has not been so good recently, so I missed out on that one. Having seen that this is available from China, I'll at least be able to get something looking a little similar.

Gotta agree, the acrylic looks very similar to that of the Draco - it's a cartridge converter rather than a piston filler, though, and quite a bit cheaper. Might have to think about this one!

@@bigdhav Given the NewMoon was released a long time before the Draco I would think they are pleased that TWSBI has imitated their colourings. The NewMoon is, I believe, inspired by a Sailor Pro Gear Slim, but without having both pens I am not able to compare them. The Sailor is on my list of pens to eventually buy, when I do I'll do a video comparing the two of them.
