I had this laptop for 2 years now and I'm a hardcore gamer with thousands of hours played, I'm typing now from the laptop, its a very good laptop still working perfect no hinge issues like people we're afraid, I flew 10 times with him in my backpack never had any issues. Yes it does get very very hot and fans are blasting but you can tell its a good quality laptop otherwise at 80+ degrees 5-8 hours a day I m honestly surprised it didn't melt anything inside this summer and I've only changed termal paste once. idk if its worth atm or even is still selling but yea if you looking to buy it don't worry it s an awesome laptop.

From here I can tell that heat solution is insuficient, just like the G5 SE from last year. A gaming laptop in 2020 should have 4 vents, 2 pointing to the back and 2 pointing to the sides. Also the vents holes down under seem small to let air in.

I work for best buy and the dell rep told me that they are currently depleting their 60hz panels and they plan on adding 120hz screen to the base model in the fall. We shall see!

My only complaint with this is the centre-torqued hinge, they tend to fail, it's just a consequence of the physics of the design. A traditional hinge design is more durable, and looks better in my opinion.

Looks like the wrong AMD software version. The 20.7.xx are for most AMD laptops. The 20.10.10 are for the G5 SE laptops. The G5 SE has it's own specific AMD software separate from others. Additionally, the BIOS should be 1.3.0, which I assume is what you're on.

AMD finally is competitive to Intel in laptops but to be honest these AMD constructions are a little too fresh on the market. It needs to become more common and available with all their technologies. Maybe in next year are going to be really interesting laptops with AMD parts inside

then dont go for it . If you worry about heat issue then go for Lenovo Legion 5, Acer nitro 5 (AMD version ofc) or MSI bravo 15 (best cooling system and not too heavy) The Dell G5 15 SE has lots of problem tbh.... 1/Heat ,it is obivous that 2 vents are not enough to cool a 6GB vram graphic card. 2/Bad build quality. It made of cheap plastic, old design and bad balance 3/too heavy for a 15" laptop (2.5kg compare to only 1.9kg from Bravo 15 or 2.2kg from others) The only reason why this laptop become "a hit" is the RX5600M with cheap price

The two USB 2.0 ports don't bother me. I'd rather have that and end up with three USB A ports than have just one or two USB 3.0 ports. At least there's one USB 3.0 port, and that will work just fine with my DisplayLink stuff.

Great video, just bought open box for 749.. still on the fence on gaming performance though, seems a bit sluggish, crashed on Skyrim, my Lenova Yoga with less processing power with a ryzen 5, blew it away in performance. time will tell,, At this price, I'm willing to wait it out.

Good review. Unfortunately, I have to say that I had a very bad experience with the laptop. I've had to send it in for repair 3 times. twice because the bluetooth and wifi connection was extremely poor, once because of bluscreen, which was due to components on the motherboard burning out. The latter was probably because the laptop gets extremely warm, even just while text production. I'm fighting with the horrible customer support to return the laptop because the Bluetooth is still disconnecting (despite having let them replaced the card), the battery performance is terrible (after 1 hour of Word and Chrome, the battery is exhausted) and because as soon as the PC goes into power-saving mode, it just shuts down instead, even though I haven't set it to do so. When you have to boot the PC from power-saving mode, there is no wifi. Only after shutting it down and starting it up again does it work again. It's a pain in the ass. Never buying dell again.

When im getting great thermals CPU always below 85 and Gpu 75 max. Imagine having the laptop and still relying on some clown from Down Under to tell your what fps you get. Get in the bin mate.
