so if i wanted to get janky and run an external power supply of a higher wattage, would a standard one work? this appears to be a standard 24-4 but i was hoping you could confirm that personally have a 7010 sff but they appear to be the same is this regard

replacing it with one that is an upgrade would be much better, really, after you take it out, being the same unit, its pretty easy to put back in. i have found adapters to replace the power supply in a TOWER but these SFF one have this weird elongated PS. i was looking to see if anyone has figured this problem out for the small ff.

hey man, was curious. if i were to take and upgrade my power supply to say a 400w from the dell stock one for this same layout/model of Optiplex 790 SFF what power supply would you recommend? i cant seem to find one that looks like out of the box will work with this

phil k You can probably upgrade to any psu with a higher wattage as long as it’s the same size, width etc as your original one. In terms of a gpu it really depends what you want it for. I’d do this upgrade for budget gaming so I’d buy a 500w variant of the psu I saw on eBay and replace it then buy a low profile 1660ti as it’s small and has a low power consumption so there’s no safety hazard and it will fit perfectly hope this helps

Normally psu bist light blink everytime you plug the computer. Right. But now , i plug no sign of light anymore. (Dell 3060 sff psu) Bro how do know the power supply is dead. I try to test my psu, only psu motherboard and processor are intact. My psu is BIST BUTTON FREE. I remove the 4pin 8pin connector from the motherboard , then plug the psu. The Bist light glow for 3 second, i put back again, it won't glow. No sign of light, I try also psu test using paper clip method jamper black and green the psu bist light glow and the fan is spinning Is my motherboard is dead or my psu?

@@mfrmgklsdmgmg5455 intersting astroboy ty..ive been looking all day for higher power sources than my measly 240 watt this 400 is a big upgrade...probably still not strong enough and doesnt look like it will even fit but the cords match up i guess thats all that matter..ill give you another task if you dont mind..;) anything higher than 400watss with the same hookups.....my 240 watts fries when i play scum.
