hello, i know this is 2yrs already but can you please list the MAX support for this pc? I have a personal reason for doing it instead of just selling it whole and buying a better hardware that offers better upgrade path.

Thanks, I suddenly thought about upgrading it today. I found it rather slow and saw your video, it looks easy. If this works, I can do my other PC. Then I can put Windows 11 on it, now there is 10 on it.

Its weird how a ton of these optiplexes were thrown away by companies when dell optiplex system are rigid, well made, and still has expansion for them to keep using it. Just by upgrading the SSD alone i got 144fps and can still surf the web with atleast 10-15 tabs open on windows10 pro

The 790 Sff has space for an ssd and a hdd so you can have 2 modes of storage and much spaces, don remove the hdd, use the ssd for the OS and hdd for storage

you've never mentioned the size of RAM you are upgrading. What is the max of RAM allowed on this model?

32 GB of DDR3 1333 MHz

Officially it's 16gb, but you can go far as 32gb.

Yes a core i7-2600 will run well on an optiplex 790.

You can also run Sandy Bridge Xeon processors (E3-1220 to E3-1290; but not v2, v3 etc which are later generations). Versions ending with a 5 have integrated graphics, but those with 0 do not, so you need a dedicated low-profile GPU.

yes sure, 2 SSDs will fit. a better low profile graphiccard will definitely give you a better gaming experience

If you have a 790 sff, you can, because the power has 2 power sources for the storage and this pc has 4 sata connections
