It isn't quite so simple since most testing is in response to symptoms or being in close contact with someone who has COVID. The breakthrough rate among those who are vaccinated in the United States has been about 13,000 out of 160 million. which is similar to the reinfection rate for those who've already had it. And resistance after infection is also waning. Not to mention there have been only a few dozen fatal events due to the vaccine compared to Millions from the disease. Not to mention the amputations. This is a disease you don't get lifetime resistance to. Likewise measles vaccines are only 97% effective and yellow fever 99%. This is enough to prevent and end epidemics.

One is still in rehab now in late october and can't walk without assistance. That's what getting this disease does to you. Dr. Campbell, many thanks for your informative summaries. May I offer a small correction to your illustration of neutralizing antibody that binds to the spike protein. The 'RBD'-domain of the spike is about 220 amino acids in length and an antigenic epitope (the binding site of an antibody) is only about 5-10 amino acids. So instead of one huge immunoglobulin, there can be several antibodies binding simultaneously to the RBD of the spike protein.

10:45. Though neutralizing antibodies have previously bound to the spike protein, isn't it possible the mutated virus could be bound by enhancing antibodies (or possibly in future mutations)? This would presume to be one of the mechanism of antibody dependent enhancement which has been an ongoing worry due to the shortened animal trials. Please let me know if I am misunderstanding how enhancing antibodies work when they result in increasing infection spread instead of providing the helpful neutralizing antibodies! Work against ADE dates back to MERS prefusion form spike protein stabilization which avoids the generation of non-useful postfusion ABs. The discovery there transfered nicely to SARS-2 vacines. Spike based ADE however is theoretically possible with natural infection (although too many other variables are different to say anything)

Yes, despite the media (e.g., idiots like Don Lemon) in the USA trying to label every person with vaccine hesitancy as a knuckle-dragging anti-vax, Trump-voting nutter, the fact is that these drugs were not given the usual full vetting with accompanying data collection. I was hoping to wait for the Novavax product, which uses an older, more proven technology, but just today news came that it appears they have hit another snag, so I will likely soon go for the J&J, which I don't consider much more safe (since it was another rushed novel drug) - we are basically running a massive Phase 3 & 4 trial right now. The current vaccines just seem so damn mediocre.
@jonnynice83663 жыл бұрын
@@Spiun666 I've never heard that pre-fusion spike had anything to do specifically with avoiding the production of enhancing/non-neutralizing antibodies. What I believed the reasoning was was either that it's less likely to cause problems like blood clots or that it will produce more types of antibodies by exposing more parts of the spike. But I'm by no means an expert, so you could be right. Do you have any documentation to back up your claim?

@@jamesbennett1202 is that totally surprising? The vaccinated in the UK are pensioners (so at risk to varying extents) and people of working age who are going back to normal more and more with office meetings etc. Children are largely still unvaccinated so the virus is going crazy in schools, yet the kids are thankfully largely unaffected, but coming home and spreading it to parents who then spread it at work. Grandparents are all relaxed as they are jabbed yet the protection has wained. Vaccinated adults are at 80%. So with the larger proportion of people with the most exposure being jabbed, and now we know the vaccines aren't as good as we thought at preventing spread, it follows that jabbed people will be the larger number infected. And that isn't a problem - the vaccine does still offer protection against serious illness. What you need is the number of jabbed dying from the virus vs the number of unjabbed dying from it. Not sure we have that info? We do know 20% of ICU patients that are in ICU due to Covid are pregnant women that refused the jab. Not sayig anything about their choice but that is a high incidence rate of seriously ill people.

The US isn't really even doing variant-specific testing (unlike say the UK). But they just take a small portion of the PCR tests submitted around the country (less than 1 of every 1000 tests conducted) and do genomic testing. That's how they get a general picture of what's being spread in various communities. That's why you've never heard of it. All you have to do to figure out which variant you have/had is to look up which variant(s) were the dominant ones on the specific date you first tested positive. If you are in the US and it was in the last calender year, it was a 90%+ chance that it was either the UK/Alpha variant or the India/Delta variant.

Thanks for all your excellent work John. My question is if the vaccines are so efficacious asyou stated why are cases hospitalisations and deaths increasing and would natural immunity work better for new variants?
@marknorris37693 жыл бұрын
i agree , the vaccine strategy seems significantly problematic , i wish we had more answers , this vaccine project is so huge with so much inertia , changing strategy seems impossible , or in slow motion

More Boosters and more $$$$$ John still has not discussed Obesity! It is a common, serious, and costly chronic disease. Having obesity puts people at risk for many other serious chronic diseases and increases the risk of severe illness from COVID-19.

True. It also affects vitamin d absorption as fat cells take it up before it spills over into the blood.

So what is new that they’ve incorporated into the boosters, or is it more of the same, failing, waning stuff that is currently driving the evolution of escaping variants? Just in time for winter’s experiment to help generate a new, ‘better’ variant! kzbin.info/www/bejne/fpa2e4p9iNOBbqM

He’s talked about obesity many times. That’s one reason so many Americans are dying. We are a very fat country

John knows they are lying about ivrmctin, but he continues to push the vaxine. John is the Pied Piper. He knows better, but he acts naive, and keeps doing their bidding. John is worse than the average person, because he can see the lies.

This. Will. Never. End. I just can’t anymore. I am over this pandemic, vaccine passports, masks, restrictions, and the fear-mongering. I am officially out of fucks.

Watched cov19 Q and A, with A and V today, Raccionello was quite adamant that boosters are not required, and in a final question, basically trashed Dr John for his information, by discussing IVM.. It is fascinating to watch how their questions are moderated within an inch of their lives, and I think he only addressed a question about aspiration because it was offered with a payment. He used the answer as an excuse to trash Dr John, not to discuss the subject. I am a member of a fairly big guitar forum here ( UK), which has a section on 'discussing' coronavirus related information, and the mere mention of aspiration, in a thread by somebody anxious about getting his first vaccination, saw me banned from that area of the forum. There is clearly some high level instructions going on to bury the subject. Very Dark times indeed, when the truth and facts dare not be mentioned.

Thank you once again for a very informative and concise update.Concerned about the new lockdowns, shrinking supplies of food, fuel and basic living costs rising to unaffordable levels, news media spreading panic levels of fear.
