As someone who plays roller often, I’m embarrassed by these, lol. But, truthfully, this is really about all that ever happens in them. Since it’s not allowed, guys won’t ever have a chance to square up before someone jumps in. Not to mention you often have full cages, and I ain’t punching it without gloves on. I’ve been in plenty of these, and only a couple of times was there ever opportunities to throw real punches, but they had to be body shots. Which, if you don’t know, can hurt like hell especially without a chest protector like ice. Still cool to see, and actually pretty laughable how relatable the fights are, lol. Also reminded me of HS ice hockey, where it isn’t allowed either… just a lot more wrestling and body slams

Yeah in my elder years fights are mostly started because the refs are kids or D1 players that dont think anything is a penalty. So things slowly escalate, until one side has just had enough.

I would play roller in the summer to keep my legs strong while my rink would work on and repair the normal stuff. Almost all of the fights in games I played were roller. Those guys live for getting scrappy for no reason. I can’t tell you how many times the police had to be called. Swinging sticks at people, body slamming refs, going into the other teams locker room to fight, nothing was off limits. I was so fortunate to play with a chill group that didn’t often get into trouble

Worked at a combo roller/ice rink. Roller fights always came off the rink, and still fighting. Ice, for the most part stayed out on the ice.

been playing roller my whole life and its always been treated like ice hockey in travel / semi and pro games. It's very frowned upon in house leagues tho in my experience. if you fight then your kicked out the league, possibly for good. But I remember plenty of fights in travel roller and watching semi pro games.

I remember when I was in high school we did roller hockey games in the gym, and there were always assholes who wanted to fight like this and it basically ruined the game for the rest of us who just wanted to play. I remember before I hurt my ankle and stopped playing there was this one guy, wore number 99 who started a big brawl and tried fighting me. Everyone was pushing and shoving and yelling and I finally had enough. After taking a stick to the face I threw off my gloves and started punching, I got 99 in the face a few times. His dad got into the rink and started telling me off, so I popped him in the nose and fought him. When the school asked why I did it I said, "He walked into my rink during a fight to tell me off, he wanted it.
