I really like how Love Theory actually also works in a more literal sense from Spamton's perspective: Hyper -> more than average, love is a strong emotion; Link -> love does connect people; Blocked -> referencing how he never got to experience love. It's both the literal meaning of the parts of "Hyper - Link -Blocked" meaning of being prevented from having a strong connection to others. Plus, what is a hyperlink in the computer terminology? A thing which connects one file or website to another. The link points to something else, allowing for the computer to go to that other location. And Spamton G. Spamton wants to have the freedom to do anything/go anywhere. Plus, it would match up with how much he hates the [Clown Around Town], Jevil. Jevil had his own "freedom", only to get himself locked up. He gave up his freedom, while Spamton wants it.

I feel like breaking down and exploring Kris and Noelle's romantic connection in the Snowgrave Route is sort of the opposite of shipping. It's possibly the most messed up relationship in the franchise. Spamton's encouragement of it only becomes his undoing. By the player's intervention Kris goes from a shy, weird, kinda creepy kid to a downright psychopath. The implications of this being the way to romance Noelle... it's alarming

It sadly makes sense. Noelle is young and naive, which makes her especially susceptible to manipulation and abuse tactics. I think it works very well in contrast with the normal route, where Noelle and Susie are learning about love in a normal teenager way. This makes me wonder as well about the theory that the story is about Susie. After all, the first chapter is all about the theme of not having choices and following a single plotline while the secret boss rejects those concepts. But while in that chapter the player can't make choices, Susie can since she is the main motor of change in the story. Interestingly, Snowgrave isn't just a genodice route, but also gives the player the choice to try and take away the theme from Susie: it's supposed to be where she discovers and explores her feelings for Noelle, but instead the player can push Kris onto her. I am very curious to see if this will be a theme with each chapter.

I used to write off any attempt to give [hyperlink blocked] any particular meaning, but “love” works so well in literally every situation it’s used that it would make less sense if [hyperlink blocked] didn’t mean love. While most other words suggested seem pretty forced in “soak in the X” and “a little bit of X in the morning” using “love” in those sentences makes them sound perfectly natural, like something people would say in real life. A crucial part I think you missed full analysis of was "You've been Making, haven't you?" This intransitive 'making' here, using it as a verb by itself without an object, is fascinating. It's also exactly what Queen said in her fountain monologue. "[The Knight] Coursed Its Will Into The Blade And Made". Nothing after that, the Knight just Made. I can't see these two unique uses of made as anything but connected. The Knight makes [Hyperlink Blocked]. On that note, [Call]/[A Call]/[Calls]/[The Calls] is an interesting idea. There's some jank around the edges (uploading calls to the disk? I suppose he could be bringing his records of his calls with the phone man), but it meaning both importance to people around you, choice, and specifically the calls he got from the phone man gives it flexibility and an interesting dimension. Kris wants calls, as they want to be important to their friends, and they want to be given more calls (choice) in their life. Spamton wants calls, as he wants the phone man back in his life after being abandoned by him. Making the Calls is certainly what Kris does during Snowgrave, and the Knight calls Queen. Maybe a bit more of an interesting as opposed to good idea. He does use the term Making the Calls unblocked already...

I'll condense my thought about this since I'm scared I'll forget them after finishing the video I was wondering why these specific words were chosen as a replacement for this concept, this thing. What if the hyperlink doesn't lead to a website, but leads to a game object? For example, when talking to a NPC they could say "oh, you have a in your inventory, let me reforge it" (the symbols are a spot where anything could be typed in). What if spamton is referencing a thing like that (for example, Level Of ViolEnce) that is missing from deltarune, and because the game doesn't know what to do with a uncompatible object it blocks it from corrupting the rest of the dialogue. Since it's a HYPERlink, it could be referencing a thing from a different program, like Undertale. I know this is a super meta theory, but I wanted to highlight that hyperlink doesn't just mean a link to a website. Maybe someone more experienced in lore than me could make some sense with this information? Also if this is mentioned later in the video I'll be very happy.

And thats how they will break their strings. This makes sense on the surface but I think you got the order of events wrong. This basically makes it seem like Spamtons plan was to become Neo and to then take Kris soul with his new power (smth he already tried to do in their first encounter but failed to defeat Kris). But that was never part of Spamtona plan. Spamton thought becoming Neo was enough to set him free. After transforming hes even surprised that he still has strings and how he still isnt "big" enough. Only then does he change plans and tries to take Kris soul to become even more powerful. And in snowgrave he also never mentions taking Kris soul. Hes just mad at Kris for getting "Hyperlink blocked" without him. I know this is only a small correction but still. Edit: Ok, so the mistake was just repeated during the control theory. No, Spamton never planed to fuse with Kris. The plan always was to become Neo. Fusing with Kris was a spontaneous decision. So Spamton offering that to Kris as a reward beforehand doesnt make sense. Edit 2: It was just repated again during happiness. At this point I will stop editing this and just say that claiming Spamton wanted to fuse with Kris from the beginning is a minor misunderstanding that leads to the actually kinda major effect of presenting multiple theories as more plausible than they actually are. I hope Jaru reads this.

Surprised "Hope" (or "Hopes") isn't one of the main Single Concept Theories. For me it sounds like the obvious one. It pretty much fits every use of the term as long as you don't get stuck in grammar. Offering hope to Kris as a reward makes sense as a "you help me, I help you" contract (It's not a physical reward, but it doesn't have be one), and even the "every [hyperlink blocked]" line fits perfectly as a promise of offering Kris everything they want, whatever that may be. It also fits the idea of them being controlled possibly making them incapable of hoping for a different fate. As for the more odd cases, having the luxury of a little hope in the morning is a natural way of describing having a better life, Kris "making" hope in the Weird Route makes sense when you consider they're escaping the constraints of the prophecy, this creating the opportunity for the future to change (The next paragraph also not only fits, but in a pretty interesting way too. If [hyperlink blocked] is replacing the word "hope", then this would literally be Spamton spelling out the meaning of [hyperlink blocked] by listing said hopes) Spamton transferring his hopes into the disc fits perfectly with him putting the plan's execution in Kris' hands. The only instance it doesn't fit is "I'll become so", but that's just because of grammar, which Spamton isn't a fan of. Thematically it could easily fit there since that dialogue is all about his hopes for the future. If there's any counter argument I can think of for "hope", it'd be that the weird route specifically involves us forcing Kris to do things they hate a lot more than what we do in the normal route, so you could say it'd give them LESS hope, rather than more. But that's a pretty uncertain argument, since the weird route is less about forcing Kris to do things or making them suffer, and far more about going against the natural flow of the story, something that inherently creates room for hope if your current future seems hopeless. Also, Spamton constantly comparing Kris' wishes to his own doesn't necessarily mean Kris actually wants the same things he does, it could just be Spamton projecting and misjudging Kris' desires (their situations are clearly different after all, with Kris' ability to take off the SOUL and act on their own, as well as Spamton not being clearly puppeteered like Kris but instead seemingly just limited and constricted) For Spamton, breaking the mold might seem like the very definition of hope, which that could explain why he says it like he does in that route. "Hope" is unorthodox in how it'd fit Spamton's lines (probably why not many people think of it), but it works with the arguments for many of the other words at the same time (like "choices", "power", "control" and "happiness") while not really having any of the counter arguments for them. It's a broad word that you could argue wouldn't mean much, but it's one that fits perfectly in a thematic sense. (PS: You mentioned when talking about "power" that it'd be odd for Toby to replace a generic word with [hyperlink blocked], but I disagree on that since the point of doing so isn't necessarily to create mystery, it could also be to create atmosphere. The use of [hyperlink blocked] is a HUGE part of what makes Spamton terrifying and gives him such a high creepy factor, which is alone enough reason for Toby to do it. I'd also say hope is a lot less generic than power, as it has a much deeper meaning, not to mention Toby's already used it for important characters before) I really like the idea of "hope" because it makes [hyperlink blocked] not be some specific mystery thing separate from the other things Spamton talks about, but an encapsulation of all of them. It's important not for it's meaning necessarily, but for it's emotional impact, which makes more sense to me since Spamton's story is already concluded.

I have always had the theory of [Hyperlink Blocked] standing for "Darkness". As Darkness gives form to the Dark World, and by extension to all the Darkners, it would makes sense for Spamton to want more of it, or to have it all for himself, possibly using it to free himself from his strings. By transfering into the Disk, he basically gives his "essence" as a Darkner to Kris in order to be reborn in his Neo body. As to why Kris would want Darkness, I see two possibilities : - It could be a link with the end of the chapter, where Kris literally creates Darkness by opening up a Dark Fountain, (albeit, after sealing one, but it can't be known if Kris wants to have more Darkness, or just enough Darkness under control to have a new world to explore). It could also tie in with Spamton only wanting "a little Darkness", meaning he wants at least enough for his world to exist). - It could allude to Kris wanting to use Darkness to break the link betwen them and the player, which would mean that Darkness as a force isn't so much about quantity, but about quality. Upon realizing that the Darkness of Chapter 1 or 2 aren't strong enough to break the link (or enough "pure", being the term used to describe Ralsei's fountain), Kris would seal it, and then try elsewhere to find a more potent source of Darkness. As to why Spamton accuses Kris of making "Darkness" during the Snowgrave Route, either acts of violence allow Darkness to grow stronger, meaning Spamton Neo intended to commit atrocities to further his power, or Spamton obtains knowledge of Kris' motivation to create other Dark Fountains after sealing the one of Cyber World, and blames him for wanting to keep all the Darkness to himself despite their deal (and despite Spamton intending to do the same thing). Also, Spamton never uses the word "Darkness" to my knowledge, only referring to the word "Dark" three times, and only while in his Neo Form, in which he might be strong enough to circumvent a part of what's preventing him from saying it.

It's a single concept theory guys! Acutally, it's (word referring to two concepts) ! That aside, I think LOVE theory works pretty well, but I prefer a multiconcept with LOVE, Will (as in force of will, identity), and some other related words. My main hangup is that youd think for Spamton to transfer their LOVE, they would need to have some already, which... well either Spamton killed someone, or they're being randomly poetic/affectionate in a way they otherwise never do. You could argue Spamton is emotional due to Kris' success, but idk unless calling someone a [funky] little [worm] is high praise, I still read "THEN WE WILL TRANSFER MY [[Hyperlink Blocked]]" as referring to something central to Spamton's very existence. Even if Spamton does have LV (or I guess if 0 LV exists enough to call it theirs), it still feels odd that they'd call it out in this line to me. Are we to infer that saying you'll transfer your LV is tantamount to saying you'll transfer your entire being? It's just one or two numbers, depending on if EXP is part of it or not, surely there's more then like eight bytes being written to that disk. I digress. "I'LL GET SO. LOVE" also reads strangely to me. "I'LL GET SO. MUCH LOVE"? "I'LL GET SO. HIGH LV"? But then it's not just one word anymore! My current reading, then, is that Spamton uses [[Hyperlink Blocked]] to talk about multiple properties if SOULs that are (for some reason?) forbidden to discuss. LOVE can be done, Determination ("I'LL GET SO. DETERMINED"? another, maybe Will/Identity/Being for the transfer line. This is technically multiple concept but they're all related properties so to me it still works. LOVE and Determination are both symptoms of having a lot of Willpower, and are closely tied to the SOUL, so using these words interchangably or having the same oppressive force censor all of them makes like a little sense. Maybe [[Hyperlink Blocked]] occurs when Spamton wants to say something in this category, but phrases it in a way that whatever/whoever is censoring them notices and forbids.

I believe that, at least during the snowgrave route, spamton is talking to the player rather than kris. Snowgrave to me has always felt more like the players attempt to reinforce their control over kris, completely separate from anything they would ever want, this idea being suggested by the fact that kris acts extremely different in snowgrave than in any other route and in fact seems to have their voice completely replaced by the player's at some point if Noelle's dialogue about hearing a "terrifying voice" is to be believed. You mentioned that it's hard to believe that snowgrave has anything to do with kris's freedom and I absolutely agree, I believe snowgrave is a roundabout method of the player gaining complete freedom and control over kris's actions, thoughts, and behavior and this effect will only get worse and worse if more routes similar to snowgrave are included in future chapters. For this reason i believe hyperlink blocked is likely related in some way to the concept of control, or forcing your will on others, as it's easy to believe that kris AND the player want this sort of control. So i would have to disagree that the snowgrave route use of hyperlink blocked is a weakspot for the control theory, with this interpretation it's actually something that strengthens it.

Some more fuel for Love Theory is that in Undertale, 'love' and 'LOVE' are case sensitive, which would explain the need to obscure it with [Hyperlink Blocked], so that players don't pick up on when Spamton is saying what version of the word.

I was strongly in the "control" camp due to its narrative significance- for my own part I think Gaster's experiment is trying to see if a Determined soul can create control in conditions where it shouldn't be possible- but I think you've got me convinced with this. It fits with ch2 bringing back other elements from Undertale, not only Determination but also the title music in a very upfront way in "Before the Story". On top of that, the Weird route is pretty blatantly geared to make you feel filthy with its mixed motifs of romance and manipulation, and it definitely shouldn't be overlooked that the accusatory "Making (Love)" furthers that as well as the LV connection at the same time.

Personally, I’ve always subscribed to the “LOVE/LV” theory, with the weird route’s uncomfortable romantic undertones, the power granted by LV, along with everything else. It all made so much sense to me. I was fully prepared coming into this video for you to crush the idea of love theory working, and with it, all my hopes and dreams of being right.
