Bride coordinates with husband siblings and partners to throw the parents a vow renewal wedding, and reverse uno all the crap they did right back on them. During first dance, all 8 siblings and partners or SOs crowd the dance floor and take over the spotlight. Anything like that, including a SpongeBob themed wedding cake.

16:49 as someone who’s worked in a bridal store, one of the first tips they told me about interacting with a future bride is to *always ask the bride how SHE FEELS in the dress before getting & giving feedback* !! Don’t ask the people who she came with until after she gives her input and we were told we could interrupt them (politely) to let the bride finish her train of thought. The bride is going to be experiencing a lot of different emotions at once about dress shopping and it’s our job to be the supportive “big sister/best friend” to the BRIDE. She will look to you for advice because as the bridal consultant, I’m supposed to be the expert and know how and if the dress looks good. My feedback made more of a difference than I realized. While you’re helping her put the dress on, you need to listen and watch her body language because she could try being a people pleaser by saying one thing but her body is saying she hates the dress. I always told my brides “at the end of the day, this is YOUR BODY this dress has to go on. It’s YOUR money to spend however you choose. I will support any decision you make today.” Even if the dress was being purchased by someone else, it’s a gift for the bride so let her choose the damn dress she wants. I know I would get invested in my brides because I am an older sister and would treat my brides like I would treat my own sisters 🩷🫶🏽 The amount of times I cried was why I didn’t wear much makeup to work lol

I felt that way, at first. Then I started seeing everything she was doing. Like moving half her family into their apartment that my son paid for. None of her family members paid for anything. Or getting numerous pets, letting them do their business all over the floors, then making my son clean it up when he got off work. Also making him cook every single night when he got off work. Oh and not only take care of their baby, but also her sisters children that she let move in all after he got off work. Btw he was the only one working, 12 hrs plus daily, the only one paying any bills. Basically the only one doing anything. Then I found out after they split up that she had filled child support on him literally right after their daughter was born. With him living in the house passing for everything! They didn't split up until she was 2 yes old and he just couldn't handle it anymore. Be careful thinking the dil is always right. Sometimes your child is the one in the right.
@t-and-p4 ай бұрын
OP - I think you have a fabulous perspective! It's not about taking sides, is it, whether that's your child or their partner? It's about not letting the love you have for your child cloud your judgement. Using your morals and principles to determine what is right and what is wrong, just as you would in any other situation, being aware or any bias that may creep in and countering it. People like you are the absolute best family members to have around, especially for those who are young and learning to navigate life, because both of your grandchild's parents (&, no matter what, they will both be in your family now with that title, even if they move on) can come to you for advice and know that they will receive an honest, non-biased take. That's priceless. Also, if your son is still young and you are seeing issues, then getting on well with your son's partner means that, if something happens in their relationship, you will never be stopped from seeing your grandchild - because the mother knows she can trust you. And that is the absolute best gift you can give your grandbaby - an amazing and loving bond with a grandparent who loves them to the moon and back 💖 Wishing you all the very best 💕

Fwiw regarding bridal dress shopping: if the bride asks for your honest opinion about how dresses look on her, tell her that she’s beautiful in every dress, BUT, tell her which ones flattering her and which ones don’t. If she’s already bought her dress, your job is just to tell her that she’s beautiful and will be stunning on the day of the wedding. That’s the assignment.
@melrobertson27434 ай бұрын
And maybe a gentle reminder that while you look fabulous are you going to be able to sit eat or dance comfortably in the dress?? If that's not important then go for it. Sometimes they get distracted by how they look, they forget the other parts of the wedding
@callysto114 ай бұрын
I only brought my mom. I didn't want all that attention. I was jumping in and out of dresses pretty quickly. I got down to the final two and picked the most comfortable one. I've been married for 33 years, so maybe it's just me, but stop bringing all of these people with you 🤷♀️ jmo
@rebeccajesse46044 ай бұрын
Yes, also, just because a dress isn’t flattering on a person doesn’t make the dress or person any less beautiful. It’s just not the right match. Saying a dress the bride picked out is ugly is an insult to her taste. If the bride wants your honest opinion be kind and thoughtful: Just say (during the try on phase): it’s a beautiful dress, you look a bit uncomfortable in it (if she does, I often will try things on and I think they look good but I feel “off” and that’s what settles it)/is there anything you would change to make it perfect?” If she has nothing she would change then that’s that. Shut your mouth. If she has a few small things, maybe venture what you would change to see how she feels about it (if they are also small things). Match her tone and enthusiasm. It should be a conversation focused on how she feels/what she likes. Not a critique on how she looks or her taste.

23:27 YES! THIS!!! People, PARENTS, PLEASE DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE the influence of TOXIC relatives. 😢 I value family SO FREAKIN MUCH! That's why most of mine got cut OUT. I value my children above all. The toxicity that damaged me I put up with, because a large part was the undermining of my own self-worth. My CHILDREN, however, I *WILL MOVE MOUNTAINS FOR!* Seeing the damage in my preachoolers, having my own grandmother tell me TO MY FACE "I don't CARE how that little boy's head works. I do NOT WANT to understand!" (He is on spectrum, with the full package of challenges) ... having THAT happen was the absolute last straw, and I should've moved on before then. They are RELATIVES. They will never again be "Family" unless they choose to grow A LOT. MAYBE, maybe then. I've been conflicted on this, and was mulling choices a year ago. I chatted about some things with kiddos and my son couldn't quite place who I was talking about (daughter doesnt remember at all). When he figured out WHO I was talking about he said... well.... "OHHHHHH... THAT (expletive)????" Enough said.

Her husband was on the look out for it but every individual thing was small. The final straw was after they had 3 out of 4 of their children it became obvious that MIL had picked a favorite grandchild and excluded the others. When they found their 2nd baby crying and saying Grandma didn't like him, that was it. I'm so happy for them, she was insane. Another tidbit was with every baby/pregnancy the In-laws always asked my friend "how dark will the babies come out?" 👀 My friend is African American....so the babies are decently melanined ✨ perfect mix of mom and dad ✨

I have a son (first born) and a daughter. (2nd kiddo) I love my kids more than anything in the world and I could NEVER in any lifetime or universe imagine acting even a little bit like these nut jobs. What is the end game here for them? Like, you want to act disgusting and hurtful to the point your “precious baby” doesn’t want to have a single thing to do with you? Cause congratulations that’s what’s happening. They’re literally insane to the point they should be institutionalized! The things they said were so far from okay and honestly incestuous, their behavior was scummy, unhinged, and unacceptable. I literally will never understand how they can see this type of behavior as something that is okay. Whether or not they like who their child is marrying.. THEY CANNOT BEHAVE THIS WAY ! Their children are grown and they don’t get to tell them what to do anymore and if they want to have a relationship with their adult sons they need to accept their partners even if it’s just being cordial and being respectful, AS ADULTS DO! it’s disturbing and infuriating to hear stories like this. I cannot Fathom ever doing anything like this to my kids. It’s despicable, embarrassing, and absolutely going to end up with you never seeing your child again and for good reason. Ugh I could ramble on for days about how angry these stories make me haha I cannot believe this shit is real!!!
