An excellent discussion all around. Tons of great information directly applicable to anyone running or playing any ttrpg. The importance of trust between the referee and players can't be understated and is on full display here, week after week. Casting aside the idea of the adversarial DM and explicitly telling the players you are rooting for them (while still upholding the role of referee, e.g. never fudging the dice) is such a profoundly positive stance to take in the name of creativity and the shared experience of the game.

Thank you guys for giving us such a great story. I agree with all of you guys and the things discussed. Jon many props to you about keeping track of all that stuff! Jeez, so much going on. Can we all agree that maybe this is the time to take a floor for the AV club?!?

The occasional catastrophe makes for a better story. IMO things had been going pretty well for the AV club since they all reunited and made good with the goblins. It was a tense couple episodes and as a listener/viewer, I was riveted. Mike's point about failing 3 die rolls, while frustrating, maybe translate into an interesting story arc for his character. Why did he fail? How does the assassin feel about both failing his first assassination attempt and the sequence of failures resulting in the death of a comrade?

Loved this Detox session...Matt's question about when AV is going to get some "good ones" was classic! I am still not sure I agree with the Club's decision to stay the course with their plans once they realized that Trefko was not alone but I completely understand their commitment to the plan and set up. Unfortunately, they caught the downside of all the rolls. Looking forward to what the Club does next (do they save the cloak and other magical gear that was stripped from Darius or Darius?). Thanks as always for the great entertainment. You have inspired me to attempt to set up an open play of Arden Vul at my local library's RPG night!

Look on the bright side. You didn't lose Jost or Avaricios. What is Leril's cloak compared to either of them?

At end of the day, It was a good attempt to finish this storyline with Gerrillad. Funny thing is that by failing you've just opened the door even more for his retaliation against the AV club and its repercussions. For now only the baboons, some of the Setites and the dragon hate you, but maybe Gerrillad is trying to spread around the word that you're bad news. Which is gonna be fun to see as you move through the dungeon. Granted, Sir Sorrow didn't think Gerrillad was a big deal in the ecosystem of the halls. So who knows how influential he could really be...

I would be so entertained watching Mike play XCOM 2, the whole stream would just be Mike cursing the RNG and leaving his chair to walk it off lol XCOM turns your brain from, I have a 95% chance to hit to: no my friend you only have a 5% to miss that's all you have.
