So the car must have been in the driveway in the heat... Poor babies! He didn't know what he was doing, poor man. A tragedy all around! My father passed away from alzheimer's some years ago and both my mom and I took care of him. What a truly hideous disease all around!

Bless her heart! So very sad for her. May she find comfort knowing she is doing her best and tragedies happen anyway. Please thank her for sharing. It may save lives of other animals- may even save the life of a dementia loved one. They themselves could get in a car and not remember how to get out. Blessings on this complicated journey. 🙏🏻💗

What a horrible tragedy! I’m in tears and i couldn’t imagine the grief she’s going through. There’s no way one can prevent all things that could happen.

The phone could go into a " faraday bag " for when your trying to get things done and you don't have any help. In my opinion.

Everyone is assuming he put the dogs in the car in the heat. Is that what happened? or did he do something else? My husband has alzheimers and sometime I get frightened .

That's my thoughts too! And did he mean harm to the dogs. He should not have been left alone like that.

Any dementia. We don't know if he did it on purpose to hurt them or if he put them in and forgot. But all dementias are the brain dying and that can make people do all kinds of dangerous things. It's so sad. That poor woman. 😢

Maybe he was angry about not being able to drive the car and lashed out. My Dad is irrationally obsessed about not giving up driving. This story is a scary illustration of a damaged brain that acts in deadly ways. A sober reminder of how serious this disease can be. Sending love to your student.
