@Nosirt7 жыл бұрын
Brovahkiin "make America great again" means to each of the voter a time when their belief WAS represented. It is a generic term that works so well. To conservatives it meant 1980s with Reagan, to racist it was before 1960s, for bussiness men was the gilded age of 1890s, and others was America before Obama. They don't need to know what it meant, it just needs to appeal to them

As a right leaning centrist I have an obvious bias towards the right and everything but social issues. But I'm much more willing to listen to one of these guys shit on the right if they're also willing to shit on the left. Jim has proven that he's actually out to find humor in all of politics unlike the leftist partisan hacks or the guys getting paid off to be hacks such as Trevor Noah, Steven Colbert, Samantha Bee, Seth Meyers, etc, etc. I always say that your criticisms are only valid if you're willing to criticize the other side as well. Jim has won my support for his show. Which wasn't hard anyways because I love his stand up. More over, Jim is over all a lot funnier to me than Trevor Noah or Stephen Colbert.

Politics are by definition boring. We need shows like this to make them entertaining. The problem is that entertaining candidates win votes even though voters are supposed to make up their minds based on their policy. You cannot combat that by making an even better policy, but that's what the democrats are trying to do because they care about actually doing a good job instead of only getting elected.

A Better Deal is actually a really clever slogan. It references the New Deal and also mocks Trump for claiming to be a great deal maker when he clearly isn't
@bobrolander43447 жыл бұрын
Except the New Deal really stood for policies. And those policies had a huge positive impact on the following 50 years. Voters who _would_ vote democrats, _know_ that "better deal" is a hollow mask for the Hillary-Schumer-Pelosi camp to further sell out to their donors interests.
@theeyehead34377 жыл бұрын
Just because a slogan isn't true doesn't make it bad. "Make America Great Again" isn't something Trump was even remotely capable of delivering on. I'm just saying that the slogan has some pretty clever references bundled up in it.

Problem with Democrats is that we try to appeal to people's sense of logic and fairness. The reality is that most people's political persuasions are based on feelings. We then use logic to try to justify the positions we take.
@drmantistobboggangonzodr39616 жыл бұрын
Roy Flores yep I think the democrats don’t rely on fearmongering nearly as much but both sides do and both sides have politicians that pretend to be wholesome god fearing jeebus-loving candidates who then are found out to be liars the difference I’ve seen recently is the democrats don’t blindly stand behind their candidates when they are found to be doing something morally reprehensible as much... some still do but just look at Roy Moore and then look at al Franken for resigning over a picture and the false equivalence there I’m not saying he did no wrong I’m just saying he did resign and not because he was trying to save face before someone threw him out of office which wasn’t an option I’m just saying many other politicians would’ve never resigned because if their ethics or morals or feelings I think he really felt he let people down even though he didn’t even touch this woman and she was a well known troll for the sltright apparently anyways both parties are guilty of putting their own greed before their constituents seek being and a two party system is doomed anyway.. Also with gerrymandering, the electoral college and lobbyists and campaign donors injecting tons of money into politics, the will of the majority of the people will continue to be ignored it seems unless a drastic change takes place. One good thing about trump is he has mobilized a lot of people who are paying attention whatever their views are to how they are being governed at least I hope they are and are not just falling for the divisive us vs them bs instead if hating your neighbors for their views beliefs and opinions, why don’t we all spend time educating ourselves on the issues, possible solutions, the stances of people running, etc? Rant over lol

A good slogan needs emotion, this has none and is completely forgettable. It's also clearly designed by committee.

I see a lot of anti-Libs on hear loving what Jim Jeffries is saying. "Finally, a show host bashing the left!" But it really seems like Jeffries is just mocking the right, specifically Trump supporters. Stop elaborating your ideas and beliefs and replace it with a catchy and vague slogan like "MAGA"? I feel like this is meant to be obvious and "the point," despite Jeffries fair point that Democrats have problems figuring out what exactly they stand for, but many people here are triggered democrats or not-so-bright conservatives. But the idea that people should shorten more elaborate and specific ideas for a mere catchy slogan is ridiculous.
@pamb4406 жыл бұрын
Teddy Westside Right on. It’s amazing to me that liberals would be up in arms about this but I’m not surprised that conservatives think he’s basing the liberals. It’s so obvious that he’s not. It’s Jim’s guide explaining that liberals need to grow a backbone ( not in a negative way ) so that it grabs the attention of the party and reminds them that they have to be stronger and fight, not just let the conservatives stand out more and use them like a dirty rug to wipe their feet on because that’s what’s been happening lately. They need a catchy slogan that will express that and stick with it and make it work for them like trump did with make American great again. It needs to be smart, powerful and to the point to represent what they stand for.
