My wing dealer Phil and I were talking a month or two ago, and I asked him to send me random stuff to demo for fun. So he sent me the Cab H series H1200 and H1000 to give a try. This isn't a full review as I've done in the past, mostly a first impressions video after 3 sessions.
I filmed this over a month ago and I never got around to finishing the edit. I'm uploading it now cause I'm working on another project and kinda behind on my wing videos. More soon!
Check out Phil’s shop for all your wing or kite needs!

Sup Chris!! Feeling great here, full of stoke, hoping the same for you! I wish I could get on the water every day, and then have the time to demo demo demo other stuff. So it’s a dance, trying new gear and trying new wing stuff on my existing gear… all with like one or two sessions a week that my time allows. 🤪 Maybe winter is the time to demo around here cause I don’t try as much new stuff. I haven’t tried different foils in forever… so this is well overdue. And felt good. I just got on some FOne foils recently too, more on that soon. Weekends almost over here, so I wish you an awesome week bud! Thanks!!

Thanks for the info! I’ve been intrigued by the Cab foils but am happy with Armstrong and don’t really want to change. Nice to hear that your 925 still fills your needs. Cheers

Yeah same here. I wanna be blown away by something, see if there’s something out there that will take me farther. I just tried FOne recently and it’s nice but I still prefer my Armie setup! I wish you an awesome weekend Rob!!

Try the Axis ART series. I used a 1099 behind my boat and was blown away. Glide that is beyond belief and it still turns ok. I’d love to try out a 999. I bet both are unreal for winging.

The H800 is where the performance is hidden. Notice that the H1200, 1000, and 800 all have the same width. So AR increases as size decreases. The H800 has almost the same lift as the 1200, but better speed and glide. At 184lbs, I am using the H800 in sub 10mph winds and riding 8 foot waves in 25 mph with the same wing. I would agree the H1200 is pretty beginner friendly. The H800 is a bit trickier to get going in the light stuff, butt absolutely worth the effort.

Sup bud!! It’s funny, I shot and edited this video over a month ago, and since then we kinda chatted about how you moved to the H series. I totally value your opinions out here, and the fact you went from Armie to Cab made me thing hard about what I said in this video. I def wanna try the 800. I think my wing dealer has them, I just need to get down there. I bet it’s the best one. I had no idea the wingspan was the same! That’s really interesting. Hopefully I can get on one this winter in good conditions so I can rip with it!! Always great to hear from you bud, I wish you an awesome week!

This are great foils, some of the best of 2022, people is swapping the cab h stab for the new v-180 also from cabrinha and the kit becomes so alive on turns.

That’s awesome! I wish I had more options for the demo. I know quite a few people that rave about them and they rip the same or harder than I do! I bet a smaller stab or fuse would totally make a awesome upgrade.
@Jeroensurf
@Jeroensurf Жыл бұрын
I tried lots of foils and bought the H800-1000-1200 because they really suit my kind of riding/level. I think the stab is on the big side, but you can easily trim them down like the Armstrongs. With my foilparts fuse and KD Maui stab the H1200 is also a lot faster, tighter turning and looser. One thing I really like on the cabs is that they don,t create a crazy amount of extra lift on a wave but stay rather stable unlike some of my Sab foils and the Kujira,s I own as well.
@OCEANBOUND1
@OCEANBOUND1 Жыл бұрын
Sup bud! I can imagine trimming that stab down must make it fun. I take it the foilparts fuse is an aftermarket thing? That’s awesome and I bet the KD Maui stab makes it great. I def felt the pitch control was right on. The Armie stuff is good like that too, it doesn’t matter what speed I ride them at, I’m always in control and not trying to correct anything. I still wanna try the H800! I can see the potential. And a slightly shorter fuse would be sweet too. Im surprised they don’t provide those options but at least there’s aftermarket stuff.

H800 with the 276 fuse and the v-series 180 stab rips super tight turns ... This brings the stabilizer in about 4 inches closer from the stock setting.

yo bud! sorry I just saw this comment. rock on, I'd love to try that shorter fuse, I'm sure I'd totally love it and way closer to what I'm used to. I felt the carbon mast I used was super flexy... which one do you use? I need to see if my dealer has any of this other stuff to see if I can try it again. Thanks for these insights bud... Does anyone where u ride have Mike's Lab? If so, i hope u can try and talk about that experience. I got mine last month, the 800. I was getting bored with my prior set up (slingshot phantasm, and had multiple wings). After trying Mike's Lab and his board, I couldn't wait to get one. Couple weeks ago I also got Johnny Heineken's old board, around 85L, but super light. I enjoy winging like I never have before.

Totaly agree with you about the Cabrinhas. I was expecting some more perfromance than i received. A good and easy "performance" foil. But back on my HA's i know why i love them so much. Once you dial them in, what took me almost half a year to say that, the amount of performance you can crank out of them is amazing. 🤙

Yes bud! I haven’t tried many other foils in the past year or so. I wanna try something and have it blow me away and have it be better than the Armie stuff. The Cab didn’t really do it. And I just tried some FOne foils and the same thing. The better I get on Armie stuff the more I can make it do! Prolly the same with everything but I’m still happy with what I got. Have an awesome weekend bud!

@OCEANBOUND Really nice video ❤️. Thanks for that. I wish more videos like this one. keep it doing. I owned HA925 - HA1325 and HS1050 - HS1850 for now 8 month and sold all except the HA925/195. I tried the FOne 940s with the new 195 stab and I ordered it to replace the 925 in the future. I don't know, maybe I'm doing something wrong but the 925 feels to me slow, as something brake me up, as I had a plastic bag sticking on the foil. I tried it with the V200 and the HA195 tail but still the same feeling. Also with the blue and red shimms. After my last session few days ago and the first session with the new 940s, people came to me at the beach and asked me what I changed, because I was riding so fast. I could go that fast as the kitefoilers and windsurfers. Also the pitch control with the 940s/XXS seems to be like night and day difference vs the 925/60. I like the Armstrong Foils very much, top quality, and easy of handling and changing the wings. At this stage I think that the Armstrong foils are excellent for rides they don't care about the speed and they foiling mostly in waves where the speed doesn't matter. After this video I'll held the HA925 for a longer time to give another try to it, before I change it to something else. Thanks! 🤞

@@buenacloud sup bud! I was just on the FOnes for the first time this week, but not the 940. I was on the 1080 Phantom, and the 990 Eagle. I got them both to clock around 21mph but the Eagle felt smoother and faster. My recent sesh I got the 925 to go 27mph. 27! It felt so fast. And I know the 725 can go faster. I use the 195, red shim and 60fuse in pretty much all situations. To me, the 925 covers 90% of the waves and waves speeds we get around here, but I’ve def been outrun on it before and thus I purchased the 725. And it’s good to have. I’m not sure what the drag issue could have been, especially if you’ve tried the red shim. Were you on a super long mast? I tried the 100 mast recently and felt way more drag than the 72 I usually ride. I hope to try the smaller FOnes soon! And I tried the short and the xxs fuses, the xxs didn’t make it harder at all. And the flat 210 stab was my fav, I forget the other one I tried but it had a big curve to it. Both got me to 21mph but the 210 def felt faster.

@@OCEANBOUND1 Hi Jermy, thanks for your reply. 27 kts is very impressive with the 925. Maybe I'll wait to sell my 925 set as long as you try the F One 940s. I'm curious how you like it compared to the 925. I also rode the F One 1080 front wing, but for me it felt like the Armstrong 1550 v2 wing. Easy to ride but low speed. The difference between the 1080 and 940s is huuuge. I can imagine that the 725 is faster than the 925 but you need for sure much more wind to manage it. The advantage of the 940s is that you need less wind than for the 925 to get up and foil. At one of my spots, I watched two riders for a long time. One had 725s and the other 940s. Two with the same skills, the same weight and the same wings, and the rider on the 940s is always much faster than the rider on the 725. But maybe it's a one-time thing. I use the 85cm Armstrong mast in my set. 925/195/85/60. Hope, you have the chance to try the FOne 940S/195/85HM/XXS and you can compare them to the 925. 🙂

@@buenacloud thanks bud!! Just to be clear, I got the 925 to 27mph, not knots. So only like 23 knots. I’m gonna make it a priority to get on that 940, and I’ll try to do a back to back comparison. I can’t think of two better contenders for the ultimate wing foil!! Btw you saw 195 tail… you mean 210? I don’t see a 195 in their lineup but maybe I’m missing something. Man I hop I can make this happen in the next month or so! More soon. In the meantime, I wish you an awesome week bud!

Hey !! Just wanted to ask that how long after removal of your k wires did you start bearing weight on that foot. Coz i also just had lisfranc injury and have k wires inserted
@OCEANBOUND1
@OCEANBOUND1 Жыл бұрын
Hey bud! First off, I’m sorry to hear about your injury! I’m not sure what the extent of yours is, mine was the 3, 4, 5, metatarsals. But if you got k wires, that means you probably didn’t get fusion surgery, so that’s the most ideal. But it sucks. The wires aren’t terrible but they are uncomfortable and it feels a lot better when they are out. I was starting to bear weight right after their removal, around 8 weeks out. As soon as the skin healed, I was out kite foiling with a boot on. Then I really got into winging, cause I felt like it was the safest thing for it cause your center of balance is more over the board, the board floats (if on a beginner board), your weight is partially hanging under the wing, and you could always jump off. So I started with the boot, soon went to a brace. Mostly just so I didn’t re-injure myself, cause it felt pretty good when I was out there. For whatever it’s worth, I still feel it in my foot when get up in the mornings sometimes, but it doesn’t effect my activities. I just ran about 100km at a race a few weeks ago! So I hope yours isn’t too bad and I really hope it heals fast. If I have one regret is that I was probably too easy on it after the wires came out and I wish I did more active things on it even earlier. Listen to your physical trainer or doctor, listen to your body, but push it. I wish you an great recovery dude, let me know if you have any other questions.

@@OCEANBOUND1 I live inland where the wind quality is terrible, 8kt-15kt with 34kt gusts is normal. I have the 1500R and 2200R. I mostly use the 2200, even under power (w/6m) during a heavy gust it holds up, nearly never stalls - you can sort of hover there if you go right upwind and recover which is sort of a neat trick. I have it paired with a 72cm aluminum fuse/mast and its very stiff. I am happy with it, feels extremely stable though keen on trying one of their MA foils with a more traditional foil profile. I know they came out with a large line of HA/MA this year.

If possible, it would be super cool if you could review some HA foils from "high-end" manufacturers and "lower-end" manufacturers. It would be interesting to see how much is hype. Perhaps do a "blind" test by covering the logos with tape and have someone put them on the same board. Sounds like a lot of work though. lol
@OCEANBOUND1
@OCEANBOUND1 Жыл бұрын
Sup bud! Great idea. My wing dealer and I have talked about different waya of doing this. To make it real, you'd kinda have to have multiple wings set up on the same boards, and then like have people try them blind and kinda promise not to look at the wings. So you'd need a boat or a place with a dock or something. Def a lot of work. but back-to-back is still a good way to compare things. The problem I have, is IMO my wing dealer doesn't really carry any lower end manufacturers. Unless you go calling some of the main brands like Slingshot a lower-end.
@jeromesurffoil7033
@jeromesurffoil7033 Жыл бұрын
@@OCEANBOUND1 Maybe I shouldn't phrase it as "high end" and "low end" because it's not the quality that I'm trying to find the difference in. It seems to me most foils nowadays are decent quality (probably manufactured in the same factories in China). What I would like to know is if HA expensive foils (Armstrong, Axis...) perform vastly different from budget friendly (Gong, Slingshot...) models.
