I left Armstrong far behind after trying the H-Series foils. I was an absolute fanboy of Armstrong. Now I realize I was overcome by the hype. My riding took off and skills shot up when I started riding more Cabrinha gear. I was reluctant to give them a go, but then I saw both Harry and Gwen just killin it with these foils and the Mantis wings at Fort Pierce. The truth is in the progression. Glad you guys are locals, your influence changed my course yet again. Thanks to all three of ya for what you do!

Thanks to Gwen I picked up the 800 H. My favorite foil up till now was the Armstrong 1250HS. It has the same lift, same turning, better glide better upwind, and better speed. I'm very happy with it.

That is the best Damo and Harry video yet. Since i now have the legend's Sabfoil gear and if i ever get half as good using is as the him, looking forward to new Cabrinha foils.

Hi guys, I see that Harry is now riding a 1000 foil, coming from a 2000. I just ordered a 1080 Phantom carbon to replace my 1480 from F-One. I might feel the same as Harry, I will tell you guys. JM on the French Riviera

I demo-ed the H1200 for 2 weeks and love the foil! Very much how you guys discribe it. I ordered a 1200 and an 1000 wingset based on how good the 1200 was. The only point of attention is that for big guys like me ,in the 95kg range, is that lovely looking carbon mast. Its an work of art but for my weight its a bit soft and flexy in choppy conditions making it a more nervous ride as needed. I can get used to it/adapt but from experiences with other brands with the same problem I know that adding an stiff mast to an excellent set of foils is an huge performance upgrade. Luckily I have an Project Cedrus mast so with adding an adapter the foils are good to go. :)

Hi there Damo and Harry. You have got me hooked on Cabrinha Mantis wing and H Series foil. What is Harry’s go to wing and foil size for 15 to 20 knot winds. I am 68 years old so can relate to Harry when he says cognitive skills are not as sharp as a 28 year old. That said, he is killing it….

Harry would be on the 1000H series and a 6m Mantis for sure in those conditions. Maybe a 5m if the gusts are more.

Great review. Thanks. Would like to know what fuse length, Mast length, stab size volume legend Harry uses with the 1000 (for winging)? Any shims involved in the set-up? Thanks again.

80cm Mast standard back wing on the HA series and no shims.

Nice! How much does Harry weigh? I'm considering the H1200 but I'm afraid I won't fly in light wind. I'm riding a 105L board and do have a 7m wing. Will I fly in 12-13 knots?
@DamienLeroyYouTube2 жыл бұрын
If I were to guess Harry is 180 maybe. A guess. The 1200 has great LIFT. I think you would be just fine. 12-13 knots takes a lot of skill and not always will the foil or wing help no matter how perfect the size. Light conditions are tricky.

@@wing__foil how did you get on with the 1200. I am slightly lighter than you.
@wing__foil2 жыл бұрын
@@devonmike I demoed one but found it too loose for my liking. It was pretty windy so no problems getting up. But I think I would have a hard time in lighter wind. Went with a second hand F-one Phantom 1480 and 1280 and really liking that combo. Gonna purchase the higher aspect F-one SevenSeas later

Great video! How does Harry like Cabrinha HA’s for stuff like tacking to both sides or 360’s? I tried an ART 999 and as much as it was awesome for wave/swell riding and general pumping, it wasn’t quite as fun/nimble for upwind transitions. Curious what you guys think of Cabrinha HA’s for upwind moves?
@DamienLeroyYouTube2 жыл бұрын
It is the only foil Harry uses winging now so I believe he loves it for the upwind transitions.

I tried the H 1000 and everything you say rang true -- it's an amazingly user friendly foil with fantastic glide yet surprisingly good to push in the turns. It's too big for my conditions so I'm keen to try the 800. My one concern is the mast situation. We have big swell and chop and the 80 cm mast is too short for my liking. The aluminum 90 has enough length but weighs a ton and seems pretty oversized. Is there a 90 cm carbon mast in the works? timeframe?
@DamienLeroyYouTube2 жыл бұрын
Michael great to hear! All I am aware of is the 90 Aluminum.... Not sure what is in the works for the future! We will just have to wait and see.

I know there are new masts coming next year, but I dont know if its going to be bigger .They are making the masts lighter by hollowing them out a bit.

Hi guys... for the h1000 and a 5m wing, what do you think would be the minimum wind to properly wing for a 170lb guy? thanks
@DamienLeroyYouTube2 жыл бұрын
Rob, hard to answer as someone skilled at that weight can get up in 10mph but someone unskilled might need 17mph average minimum! Tricky to answer.

Hey guys, love the show, looking for a recommendation: I'm really torn between the H1000 and the H800 for my second foil, after learning on my X1600 (98L Macro). I'm 68kg, been kiting for 10 years, winging for a couple months. I can gybe but can't switch feet on foil yet. Will the H800 be too difficult for me to grow into? Too fast for our Canadian mostly wind swell, or small ground swell waves(low period)? Or just right? Will I outgrow the H1000? I am also torn between the a 68L or 78L board for my second board. I am starting to feel excessively stable on my 98L I think I could handle smaller, but without sacrificing light wind. Demo is not an option as I am in a remote area. Thanks!
@DamienLeroyYouTube2 жыл бұрын
Eric, All hard questions as everything has a positive. My thoughts simplified! You can not go wrong with the 1000HA does everything well. The 800HA can be a little harder to get up on foil on the low end, but then when up spectacular. Not sure how much you weight but Gwen and I have been both riding bigger on boards. How much do you weight?
@ericfernand2 жыл бұрын
@@DamienLeroyKZbin Awesome, thanks for the reply! I weigh around 145 lbs. I am leaning towards the 1000HA as I would not want to sacrifice too much light wind and it still looks fun, fast and efficient. Love the podcast too by the way, cheers.
@DamienLeroyYouTube2 жыл бұрын
@@ericfernand Gwen and I just had this chat yesterday and feel the 1000HA can do it all and you can get so much in light winds with it. You are smaller so the 800 would work for sure but I would lean to the 1000HA its awesome and who knows maybe you can ride in sub 10MPH! More days on the water! yewwww

@@ericfernand Hey man. I weigh around 65kg myself and let me tell you, the H1000 is great. I own both an H1000 and H800 and theyre both incredible foils. If you want to get only one I would recommend getting the H1000 as I can ride it comfortably in 8-10 knots and it doesnt really have a limit. The H800 is also great, but you probably need more wind (I havent tried it below 15 knots yet).
@ericfernand2 жыл бұрын
@@obvioustrash7833 Awesome, good info thanks. Yeah pretty set on getting the 1000 at this point. Curious since we're the same size, what's the smallest board volume you can handle without compromising light wind?
