I can't quite tell, but this looks like a Genesis-first game that's been ported across the SNES. It doesn't play fully to the SNES' strengths, but seems to be pretty par for the course on Genesis in terms of taking advantage of most of the features and capabilities you would expect for a game like this there. In other words, I think they did about as well as you would expect with the Genesis version, but the SNES version falls quite a bit short of what's truly possible on that system. 49:05 This is also a good example to demonstrate how all 320x224 Genesis games are in fact slightly squashed horizontally when viewed in the standard 4:3 display aspect ratio from back in the day, and how all 256x224 SNES games are slightly stretched horizontally when viewed in the same display aspect ratio (and indeed all 256x224 Genesis games too, of which there are maybe a couple of hundred). You can see how Stallone's head is the same width when each version is respectively squashed and stretched to fit on the same 4:3 display, yet it's slightly fat when viewed in the 1:1 pixel aspect ratio on Genesis, and it's slightly skinny when viewed at the 1:1 pixel aspect ratio on SNES.

The colors on the SNES version are better in my opinion, along with transparences. For example, it has the spotlight in Stage 1, and clouds in Stage 7 and 9, also the Genesis/Sega CD versions use a lot of vertical-style dithering, while the SNES version has none of that. The Genesis/Sega CD versions are also darker, which I can see some people preferring. It's a matter of preference. However, I think that's really the only advantage the SNES version brings to the table, aside from that exclusive ending screen, which pales in comparison to the FMV in the Sega CD and 3DO versions. The SNES version is cropped horizontally as usual, but the SNES version has way worse slowdown, especially in the top-down stages. Also, the music in the SNES version could've sounded better. It's way too muffled. It sounds like the music was made for the Genesis first, and the SNES version was an afterthought. A shame considering games like Earthworm Jim 2 sounded great on both. Same with the voices. The Genesis/Sega CD versions are also faster overall, disregarding the slowdown. Again, you can chalk that up to personal preference. I've never played this game at all, but if I had to play it, the Genesis and Sega CD version seems like the way to go. I really have nothing to say about the 3DO version: it looks completely uninteresting to me.
