I can't claim this as an original idea, it was a senior Irishman that taught me to do this (and many other things)I have no doubt that he thought of it. Well worth the effort, has shown up missfires to me several times, and when you use the control row and echelon hook up method you can tell where the point of failure is by looking at which tubes have not fired, grab a spade (uhhhh) dig it up and fix it and fire the rest of the shot.

@@demolitiondavedrillandblast oh that’s epic. I hope to be as good as you and your teacher some day. Nice to hear a fellow Irish man had such an idea. Question: why did you need to have a seismograph and what was the limit?
@demolitiondavedrillandblast
@demolitiondavedrillandblast Жыл бұрын
The customer was very concerned about the effect of blast vibrations at neighboring properties, my blast was 2mm/s some distance away from the homes - probably less than 1mm/s at homes. The legal limit is 10mm/s

When you’re gathering up all the cord at the end is that check for miss fires,being eco and disposal in a special way, sum explosive handling requirement or can you sum how reuse sum of it
@demolitiondavedrillandblast
@demolitiondavedrillandblast Жыл бұрын
I'm recovering all of the plastic signal tube, not just for eco reasons but the surface delay clips have "Danger Explosive" written on them and this has cased some problems when they are found lying around on a job site by pesky neighbors who were always apposed to the site development. The neighbor calls the police, pretending that they have found explosives lying around on a construction site, seeing this find as a vindictive way to cause problems for the developer and blaster. At first glance anybody who picks up a used surface delay clip can determine that it has already gone bang and thus is not going to do it a second time - no need to trigger a big turn out of multiple emergency services, bomb squad, Work Safe Vic etc. No, none of this stuff is reusable other that the plastic signal tube that you can use in a line trimmer or whipper snipper.

Hi Keith, we no longer have any NG products in Australia. When we did the standard product was 60%, there was also 75% and a product called ANDG95 that was 95%! The emulsion product that we use now is supposed to be equivalent to the 60% but probably more like 50%. It is very insensitive, I have been told that nothing less than 22-250 impact will set it off.

Dave, how long does it take for you to drill a 6ft hole (1.5") with the hydraulic drill. Also how often do you have to replace a bit? I'm still chipping away at the little garden project you helped me with. Did an initial pour with the expansive grout (Dexpan) before it got too cold here and it honestly blew my mind . I had low expectations and could only get in about 5 proper holes with (1.5" down to 2 feet) with the corded Bosch but after 48 hours it ripped the @rse out of the boulder. Really impressive and the plan is to go back in and do about 9 more 2 ft holes in the Spring. Love the latest video. Thanks for sharing!

I have a heap of blast mats Denis, but I need to bring them to the job on a truck which costs money, the soil is already there and I can do much bigger shots than I would if I only used blast mats. The soil also gives a higher level of protection and cuts the noise down drastically where the mats do little for the noise. The blast noise brings complaints and spectators that I don't need. Another bonus of using soil is that I no longer spend my weekends repairing blast mats.

Heck yeah, not so much when you are using non electric, signal tube detonators, but still stop works if storm approaching.

For the mic idea, a lapel mic as you could put on your lovely interloper could probably be put into a piece of close-fitting metal tube. Bondo the tube to the rock, get your audio and the mic back.

Had to use the expanding chemical on the rocks out front because this is government land and we would need their approval to blast and this can take some time.

We quit using that expansion crap many years ago we now drill a hole fill it with water and gelatin solution take a 12ga shell empty the shot and fill with gun powder and boom you can stand about 20 foot away and be safe it does take a special plate but shouldn't be hard to find..

@butchphillips873 no viedo we use to buy the shells from a South African country then we started making are own instead of shot add powder and what set it off was a special cylinder with a plate and we would just set a rock on the top of the thing and it had a string and you would back off 20 foot or so and pull the string and I've split rocks so big I had a hard time moving the rock around with a d10 if your really interested the co. You can look up was called edict & watt drilling and blasting out of so. Cal
