Bleak is the first song I heard from Opeth and the one that hooked me. It has both death and clean vocals, and the middle section with the high droning notes are ...transcendental and sublime.

Hi Lauren. Thank you for reacting to more Opeth. I have been a fan from when the first album Orchid was released. The band are just brilliant. I really love Mikael's vocals...growls and cleans.... All the albums since Watershed are without growls...but they are still brilliant. On the poll for Deliverance you listed The Moon Above The Sun Below...this is a brilliant track and well worth a listen. I really enjoy your channel and love your reactions...I really like the pauses because you can actually talk about what you have just heard... especially when a song could be over 10 mins long as the case a lot with Opeth👍😆. Looking forward to your next reaction Take care, stay safe. Peace and love from Liverpool UK 👍✌️🤘☮️

I'm honestly conflicted, lol. On one hand I'm sort of glad that my question about you disliking a song enough to not post it came to fruition. However I'm sad that it was with the band I introduced you to as they are awesome. I'm so happy that your channel is growing and yes cats are weird. That's why we love them. :)

@@markblaauw4961 Also few pieces from Damnation would be nice for reacting. They are in style quite different from new Opeth. Not as progressive, but more soothing great songs. Mix of both couple Damnation pieces and then newer Opeth where there are lots of different kinds of songs to react.

When you want to listen to growlless Opeth try The Wild Flowers, Cusp Of Eternity or Sorceress. But when you choose Sorceress please, please make sure you react to The live registration on Red Rocks. The sound from that recording sounds way better than the poor produced album version. I admit that I love the old Opeth (with growls) a bit more, but the clean singing Mikael is also a gem. The music from their later albums is as you may know by now different (more progrock/progmetal with more room for keyboardguy. Cheers again 🤘🍺

Lauren, you mentioned if the whole song was like that first cleaner section, you'd love it? You should check out some of Porcupine Tree's music. Their singer/songwriter, Stephen Wilson, produced the records that most of the Opeth songs you've listened to were from, and he does clean vocals on some of those songs too - Bleak is one. "Arriving Somewhere But Not Here" and "Anesthetize" are great songs to start on.
@bobbyanderson71333 жыл бұрын
Also, you would LOVE "Isolation Years" by Opeth. No death vocals. It's beautiful and probably the closest thing to pop you will hear from Opeth.

Thanks for reacting to Opeth, please do more and often but let me give you some information about some songs and records, the Deliverance record has got a lot of black metal influences that it might be not suitable for anyone, even the vocals from Mikael is black metal types in this record, but after all of these growls Mikael himself just said in the interview that after a while listening to his old records and growling he didn't want to do growls anymore and he was tired of it so Opeth started to produce much more of progressive Metal, Rock type and if you want to listen to the non growling but beautiful songs try (Damnation( witch death whispered lullaby was in this record) , Sorceress, In cauda venenum , Pale communion , Heritage) and the last thing if you read my comment as well i'll be glad if you react to the ( Heart in Hand kzbin.info/www/bejne/oH2WiHSanqajqdk ) or ( Face of melinda kzbin.info/www/bejne/r2m7qpukgNOteKM ) or this one i highly highly recommend to watch as an Opeth fan ( Universal truth kzbin.info/www/bejne/r6HHnXSDja6pea8 ) thanks again ....

I believe the song in part is about some of Mikael the lead singer's friends who were kidnapped or held hostage, I can't remember the exact story but the song is half about that blended with another theme.

I apologize if this is lengthy. The Damnation album and the Deliverance albums came out a few months apart, in my opinion, if you were to look at the album titles as their impression from their fans reactions, with Damnation being completely soft songs and Deliverance being more aligned to the path from Blackwater Park. I love this song, and this album, it's the first time I saw them live. But Damnation is so fucking good, and it does get overlooked, with songs like Windowpane, Closure, Hope Leaves, they are incredible, but also I can see the band viewing it as its reception from their fans and bringing it back around with Deliverance. A great reaction, thank you, this is truly one of their best.
@netragtulb3 жыл бұрын
I agree that Damnation is great. I'm a Blackwater Park person myself and I'd take Damnation over Deliverance any day. I believe Lauren also liked both the songs she did so far (Death Whispered Lullaby and Windowpane), so she would probably agree.

Yep Opeth are in a totally different league, you're right there. If you want to get around your Blackwater Park issue then the answer is (now you know the song) to react to the live version. Here's the link to them playing it live in 2010 at the Royal Albert Hall in London, it's taken from the dvd so the quality is good and I have seen other reactors use this version so there shouldn't be any blocking issues either. Loving your reactions :) kzbin.info/www/bejne/qZW6c2pjqrFmnKc
