@@eugene8498 🤣🤣🤣 Coincidentally, I have a Master's in Classical Studies. The word for vagina, _cunnus_ , was considered vulgar, so "scabbard/sheath" (same word) was one of countless euphemisms. It was first used as the proper anatomical term in the 17th century. But Romans didn't perceive it any differently than we perceive "beaver". Similarly, the male genitalia, _uerpa_ or _mentula_ , was euphemized as a _penis_ "tail", although it became strongly associated with the new meaning much earlier than "sheath".

The irony is even the show mocks the design. Everyone is shocked when he does it and many times in battle his blade jams or snap. He even says himself its to tear and cause more pain but he doesnt understand that its actually making it worse for him. Probably another reason he cant understand why the others are ahead of him in skill because their blades actually function as intended. He is also far more predictable because he cant use thrusts or certain other attacks due to his blades shape
@schmity0072 ай бұрын
I always thought it was implied he originally found some swords, and kept using them even after chipping and dulling them, because he didn't know anything about actually using swords. And then he just kept doing it because it was what he used to.

it’s got to be 100% only to inflict more pain and suffering on his enemies. So they can feel the pain he felt when his loved ones were killed. I think Inosuke's idea for shaping the blades like that isn't so he can slice his enemies, but so he can rip them apart with his own strengh. I think he wants his blades to intentionally get caught so that when he pulls the swords out, he rends flesh from bone. It's the same concept of using a bowie knife.
@FortressWolf972 ай бұрын
It's a very dumb idea considering there are much better weapons out there for ripping than a serated sword, but it makes sense for Inosuke's character since he's often described as fighting like a wild animal.

I actually think Inosuke's concept could have been better fleshed out. The point of turning his flat singular sharpen edge into serrated saw teeth with the express purpose of "sawing off an opponent's head" is the opposite of Zenitsu's "perfect edge alignment draw cut" which takes an immense amount of practice of form and skill.

I think it just goes with inosuke character style and mindset. Not just because he's far from civilisation and he shouldn't have an civilised/clean/sharp katana. Thing is, he's stronger and faster than most people. He lived in a world without tools, where teeth do the job. So sharp katana may be better, but that's not the kind of weapon system he trained and mastered. And above all, he uses a special attack that is litteraly "sawing" the neck of demons, that you couldn't cut otherwise. Too bad you didn't test it, on a piece of meat for example. So it makes it an uncommon and niche weapon, for an uncommon and niche character. And so, somehow, it works for me.

Seeing this video, and watching Inosuke's techniques with his sword, he actually has a method of maximizing the cutting and tearing properties of his blades. And he does in fact sharpen the serrations. What he does is angle his slashes to only be specific degrees of attack, preferring to either Dig the sword in, or slash entirely through with jagged tearing as well. It's shown when you slash either vertically or horizontally, that you don't actually get much cutting ability, but inosuke never usually attempts to go for horizontal or vertical cuts.
