Could you guys please pray for me and my family? Our daughter has significant autism. She is very anxious and ridged and has behaviors. We go out to the park usually twice a day to help her stay regulated. It’s tough because we’re so focused of her it’s hard to interact with friends or family or even talk much between ourselves. Please pray for us so we find ways to keep from being isolated. I’m homeschooling both our kids and that’s going well. I recently joined a mom’s Rosary group. We’re trying.

I'll pray for you! Please pray for me in return. My adult son is arranged from me after I finally told him that the woman his father brought to his wedding is the woman his father chested on me with. His father lied of course. He is involved in woke transgender behaviors. He needs Jesus. This was a young man who was in the music ministry who now rejects Jesus and is an athious like his father

I wish I could find a way to avoid being isolated, but as a single woman in her mid-40s, I can't find much connection in my parish because everyone else my age is married and busy with their families, and I try to get involved, but it's either me and a bunch of 75-year-olds (which is sort of OK, but I need contact with peers) or I just don't fit with my peers because I don't have kids. There's also NOTHING in my entire diocese for singles who aren't young adults. Nothing. My family of origin is just about gone, old friends are now married and doing their thing, and I can't seem to find anyone who's got the interest or energy to make new friends at this age. And don't even get me started on the nightmare that dating is. I don't know how to get around it right now, and it's PAINFULLY exhausting being so alone. And I know some people will just say, "But all you need is God! Just turn to Him!", but I'd remind anyone tempted to say that that God created us for connection not just with Him, but with each other as well. It's not supposed to be that God is the only one we have, and I'm dying to have someone I can hug and sit down and have coffee with or do chores with or even argue with and be physically present with.

@@trish87563 You nailed it. I think there is over focus on marriage/family, or vocations, that there is hardly any support for single Catholics. And there are people who, either for a short time or a lifetime are not called to either marriage or a vocation. In fact, many see somebody outside of marriage or a vocation as somebody "having a problem". Those who think a single person "is having a problem" are committing the sins of wrong judgement, and worse, "playing God"

This is my biggest struggle. Not lust, substances, etc. isolation. I don’t know how to beat it right now. I’ve had a radical conversion and people at my (I suppose now former) church seemed no different than the people I was yoked up with in the world. In fact, many of them seem less genuine than many unbelievers I used to yoke with. I don’t know. They would call on the name of Jesus yet still watch porn. Call on the name of Christ yet still have more zeal and excitement speaking about Star Wars and sports. I long for the connection. I just don’t know if I can do church right now. I know I’m supposed to be better than this, and maybe help my brethren, but it’s hard to get past when I am excited about Christ and it’s clear that most people are just not. How can I find a common ground there?
@irishgirlintexasАй бұрын
@@michaellemmen this is something I've struggled with, as an introvert who converted from Protestant to Catholic a couple years ago and was confirmed at Easter last year. The churches my husband and I left weren't quite like yours, but it did seem they had their preferred version of Christianity that didn't involve showing love and grace to imperfect people like my husband, or to me when I chose to stay married to him. He has 3 felony convictions for drugs, but every year since there's been more and more signs he's not going back to that. There were more particular incidents that were my reasons for leaving, but going into those would take away from the real point of this response. You didn't specify if you're Catholic or not, but whenever I'm praying the Rosary, the people who hurt us before we left are who I think of when I come to the Fatima prayer. "Oh my Jesus, forgive us our sins. Lead all souls to Heaven, especially those in most need of your mercy." Whenever I encounter one of them, and they start on their anti-Catholic stuff, I sometimes have to fight to remember that. A couple other wonderful prayers are the Litany of Joy, Litany of Trust, Litany to the Sacred Heart, Litany of Humility, Litany of Divine Mercy . . . all of them are packed with nutrition for the lonely soul.
@irishgirlintexasАй бұрын
One final thought, I think the common ground you have with them (and that we all have, whether we're willing to admit it or not)is that how we act when we're seeking Jesus won't always look right to everyone else. I've given up trying to look perfect for all the people who don't live with me. Trying to please the Triune God is so much easier than trying to please everyone else, some of whom seem to think they're God.
@adlibriumАй бұрын
@michaellemmen I'm sorry that you feel so isolated. I would urge you to keep going to church and keep seeking. The church is made up of broken people, but they are in the right place to be healed and maybe you can be a missing piece for them.

I came back to Catholicism about 9 months ago. I use to be more disappointed about the lack of social connection I got at Mass but I really had to ask myself why I went to church. I am okay with Mass not leading to fun time social hour now. Anytime I start feeling lonely or isolated I try to use that as an opportunity to lean into God and the Saint's more.
@Christian-lm6qhАй бұрын
Don’t give up on Christ because people suck. Look at a crucifix and tell Jesus you want to give up because people suck. He went thru all that and more. Pray for holy friends and peel yourself off the wall. If there’s no coffee social at church start one. Start a men’s group. Get a Bible study guide and go thru Acts. People will always suck and you won’t be much better than them. Be humble and keep reaching out.

Jesus spoke more about demons than anyone else in the bible. We're in the church militant. This is war. The demons are our enemies. Realizing that helps us not be distracted into thinking humans are our enemies. It helps us focus more on love. This is why the conversation above was centred on love.
