His fill in vocals were probably the best ever recorded, such an incredible talent.

I LOVE Dennis Provisor. He truly added so much to the group. As far as I'm concerned it wouldn't be Grass Roots without him.

We love you Dennis! Every time the Grass Roots came on TV, my eyes were always on you! You just had the "it" factor...and the camera loved you, too!

I had the honor of performing with Mr. Provisor about eleven years ago. He was obviously a world-class musician, but he was also humble, engaging, and very kind to my family. He is a true professional and an authentic gentleman.

Dennis Provisor was really the secret weapon of the group in the '70. His soulful ad libs really put some of those hits over the top. Wish he'd had success after leaving. Interviewer didn't ask him about him returning to the group in '75-79 I believe. Always wanted to know if he was on Temptation Eyes since that was in the can for a year and a half before it was released & could've been before he joined.

That was nice to watch. I've wondered from time to time what he was doing. The first time I saw the Grass Roots in concert, in 1970, it was a benefit show in a high school gym (yeah, I know, right when they were playing arenas, but Ricky Coonce had grown up where I lived and so I guess that's how they ended up playing the show), and the way it was set up, the band was just on short risers, and the audience was able to sit right up to the stage, so I watched the show from the front row, sitting on the floor and leaning on the stage right at his feet. Great show. Even though it was a benefit, and small potatoes compared to the shows they were used to playing, they played a full set and acted like they were happy to be there. It was a great show.

One other thing: If I'm not mistaken, the shirt Mr. Provisor is wearing in this interview reflects the accomplishments of his son, a state champion wrestler.

The Grass Roots were not as good before or after Dennis left....He was paramount to their sound....He and Rob Grill were an awesome duo... .

I agree! Both of them made the group work the best! Besides that the girls all loved them both!

The 2 core members were Rob and Warren, but Dennis was definitely a runner up for the 3rd! The grass roots after 75 were an oldies act, so they don’t really count as the real GR except for Rob.

I was 16 when I 1st saw the Grass Roots at the Seattle Teen Fair in the summer of 1967. They sang Let's Live for Today. Made quite an impression and we covered it later when I had my own group. A class act. RIP Rob and Rick(Chuck).

Thanks for the great interview with Dennis! He is an outstanding musician and human being. I see him and The Hits every chance I get! Dennis has created a beautiful arrangement of "Where Were You When I Needed You" that leaves me in awe every time he sings it. That should definitely be on the cd!

I grew up listening to the Grass Roots. Great music. I don't blame Dennis for leaving LA and going to Wisconsin. I'm in Minnesota so I get it. I spent time in Southern California and it was nice, but not as kicked back as the midwest.

Such a great Voice Sir Dennis!! In the 1970 I bought my first vynil record of The Grassroots with Terry Furlong on the guitar. I thought I heard Tom Jones and other Motown voices!! I became a band member 1974-78 playing Bass and you were( still ) my influence! How is your music now????

When Dennis left the group, the album "Alotta' Mileage" (from May 1973) did NOT hit the Billboard Top 200 Album Charts. It peaked at # 222 (Bubbling Under The Top 200 Albums). The self - titled (1975), the late Rob Grill "Uprooted" (1979) & The Grass Roots final album "Runners Of The Night" (early 1982 & also their final appearance on "American Bandstand") also did NOT charted on Billboard Top 200 Album Charts.

When Dennis spoke about "they" erased him from that last album he participated on I wonder who "they" was. I hope it wasn't his bandmates.
