It's a great scene and Glenn is a great actor. I started watching Always Sunny back when I was like twelve or something and didn't understand any of what was really going on. I was recently rewatching it with my sister and just realized that Dennis is a perfect representation of barely-nonviolent psychopathy. He's preemptively aggressive with the people he's close with, who he has do daily tasks for him because he gets bored and can't set realistic long-term goals. I think my favorite scene is where he and Dee are in his apartment and he's trying to get her to peel an apple. Of course, Dee has absolutely no interest in this and refuses on the grounds that she's not Mac. But apparently, Mac does this every day, maybe multiple times a day. Dennis, normally cold and rational, immediately breaks into some old Gaelic curse bullshit and starts screaming about how he's "not allowed." Honestly, I think he's the best character in the show. If Always Sunny was made twenty years ago, Dennis would have been the main character of the show and all of his predatory fishing behavior would be passed off as a young libertine with difficulty committing, I.E. Seinfeld; fitting as Jerry is definitely not fun in real life.

IASIP is one of the few shows that can portray such dark and morbid things without being/coming off as depressing. They are masters at dark comedy. I mean, for instance, we just saw (or off screen) at least a couple kids die in the latest season. Black kid shot, unconscious kid drowned, Frank recalling using child corpses in soup while in Vietnam, etc etc. So why? Because it's so potentially fucked up that the inverse dark humor of it could be hilarious. And unforgettable, not many shows end with everyone dying...
