I am so glad I watched this! I’m in the process right now of building an accumulator and I only have 18-1/2 inches betweeen! Believe before I go any further I’m going to move everything over… I might build a grapple just like yours next, thanks for putting these videos together. Liked every one of them

With how good it looks on my end, I would say build one a month, sell on Craigslist. For what you have in it, should be able to double your money. (If you paint one green then you can charge 3x as much)
@DennysCountryLife7 жыл бұрын
Lol! Green with yellow hooks, I'll bet JD owners in the market for one would be thrilled! Thanks for the compliment. If I sold one of these a month, I could almost quit my job!

I'm gathering parts to attempt this build myself What is the stroke of the cylinder? I know you said that you would use a 2 1/2" bore. Also, the square tube that your forks are mounted, are they pivoting in a round hole? Or was something round welded on the square at pivot points?
@crslyrn7 жыл бұрын
The finished grapple looks great. I can't wait to see how well it works in the field. Good luck with the seal project. I don't care how big or small the tractor is, it's never that much fun to split one. You'll have to build a set of brackets to mount onto the tractor so it'll be a little easier doing the split process. Stay safe.

Yes, it'll probably throw me some challenges and I'm not really looking forward to it. It will be something to learn from though! Thanks a lot for watching bud, I always look forward to seeing what you have to say. Take good care!

I think it looks awesome. Will be a huge time amd back saver...your back will thank you later in life. Tools that save you time and labor is what I always look for. Good job sir.

I bought a new 10 bale for 2600, going to use it as a pattern for the 2nd one so I can have one in the field and one at the shed for next season. Should be a good winter project to play around with in the shop. Glad yours turned out great, the hardest part is done , now you can tweak it if you see something that you think can improve it. But it works, and that was the main idea.
@DennysCountryLife4 жыл бұрын
Awesome! You will really enjoy that setup. Have fun with the build. Having two would definitely be ideal. Thanks for watching Mark!

Fantastic build! Thank you for also showing the price info. From what I've seen, when you do factor the hours spent, it's not a huge savings, but you've got the skill and pride of a tool you made with a few improvements over market versions. And as you said, you enjoyed it and had time to use! But certainly if you can simply make them and sell them and pay yourself the labor you could quit your job!
@DennysCountryLife6 жыл бұрын
Thanks Doug! That's something I wouldn't mind making happen one day. It's always been a thought in the back of my head, starting a fab shop. I would definitely need some better equipment though! Lol. Thanks for watching, I really appreciate it.

Turned out great nice idea on the spacers should work out fine. The true test comes when it haying time. If you deside to try and sell them just use yours as a idea and take orders for what size they want that way you won't get stuck with it. Keep up the great video's
@DennysCountryLife7 жыл бұрын
That's a really good idea Kenny, thanks! Not having the overhead would be great. Maybe have half the total as a deposit and half when delivered. I think the spacers will be fine, but it's not as beefy as I'd like it to be. We'll see how it goes in a few months! Have a good one man!

I have question of how they bearings work. How they were installed? Can you do a video with a closeup of them. Thank you
@DennysCountryLife2 жыл бұрын
I tapped 5/16-18 threads into the frame, and bored through holes through the UHMW, and just bolted them on. Going on many seasons now, and it has worked fantastic! Moved thousands of bales without issues.

Which bearing did you use for the rotating square tubes?Do you have possibly a dimension or a plan to rebuild them?
@DennysCountryLife Жыл бұрын
I used 1/2" thick UHMW and a hole saw to bore out a hole the same size as the outer dimensions of the square tube (measured corner to corner). I drilled 11/32 through holes for the 5/16-18 bolts that I used to mount them to the C-channel.

After watching your build process I have started to build my own. I don't think my welds are as good as yours. I have spent $2000 and not done yet.
@DennysCountryLife4 жыл бұрын
I glad my videos inspired you to do so! It doesn't matter what the welds look like, just as long as the penetration is good. Prices on everything have gone up, and not by a little. Its all worth it though. Have fun!

Awesome job! I'm looking to build a 10 bale. How did you get your initial measurements and dimensions? Do you have a build sheet, material list, etc. It would be greatly appreciated if you wanted to share that info. Thanks! Keep up the cool videos.
@DennysCountryLife6 жыл бұрын
Thank you very much! I got all my measurements from hay bales. I let the product determine how I engineered it. I got the initial concept from the Maxilator obviously, but I didn't copy any materials or measurements, or have a build sheet. I did some horrible hand drawn prints just so I wouldn't forget dimensions as I went, but I'm not sure I have them anymore. Sorry I'm not much help in that respect! I appreciate you watching, and hope you have fun building your own! Make sure to watch my follow up 1000 bale review. There's some details there that might help you make one better than what I did here.

Ok good deal! Yeah I actually watched it this morning before I decided to reach out. I know steel prices have gone up alittle so even if it cost $2k or less I’m still a head of the game. Thanks again. Take care!

Hey Denny, I’m in works building my 10 bale accumagrapple. Where in the world did you find 1-1/4” square u bolts to attach the actuating mechanism to the hay hook shafts?? I found a place that would make them but wow$$$.
